They may not be our favorite tasks to take on, but once they’re done, you can relax and enjoy those end of year holidays even more. Come on - what are you waiting for!
Once a month, my kids receive something very special in the mail. Each one of them receives a Highlights magazine, geared toward their age group. My grandmother began subscribing to Highlights for B when he was in preschool, and it's something he has looked forward to receiving every month ever since. Baby S receives a toddler version of Highlights, called Hello magazine, featuring reinforced pages that can't be ripped apart. S very much loves her little magazines, filled with stories, games, songs, etc. Since they're so thin, they're perfect for us to take along with us everywhere we go.

Thank you to Buddy Fruits for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.
When it comes to healthy snacks for my kids, I always seek out the very best: the best taste, quality, value, and of course, products that my kids will actually want to eat. My kids are total opposites when it comes to what they like to eat. B is incredibly picky about what he'll eat, and Baby S is very adventurous and loves to try new foods. One thing that they do have in common, is that they both love fruit. They take after their momma, who also loves fruit. Fruit is such a wonderful, healthy snack, but it's not always easy to take with us or pack in a lunch box with out a bunch of prep beforehand.
When you become a parent, I don’t think that there is anything that you wouldn’t do for your children. From bringing them back to somewhere safe to live, to providing them will all of the love, attention, and products that they need to help them grow and thrive. Many parents will say when you ask them what they want for their children, that they want their children to be happy. But what we do as we raise them can and does have an impact. So how can we ensure that we are raising happy and well-adjusted children, that can go on to thrive later in life? Here are some steps you can take, that are backed by science, that will help your children learn to be happy as they learn and grow.
The girls started the 2017-2018 school year on Monday! This morning, I took a picture to commemorate the "half-way through the first week" mark. I've had a few days to get used to having one in 5th grade and one in Kindergarten, and it's getting a little bit easier.
This is the time of year where everyone is looking for great deals on a multitude of different purchases. Kids are getting ready to head back to school, and it's pretty amazing how quickly the items they need for school can add up and put a strain on your wallet. From classroom supplies to new backpacks, lunch boxes, and new clothes, parents usually wind up sending hundreds of dollars on back to school shopping. There's a way to shop smarter and save more money, though, and I'm excited to share some great tips on saving with Goupon Coupons.

As Baby S grows, I often try to remember what my son B was like at the different ages and stages S has recently gone through. S is 16 months old, and she is such a hoot! She and B are completely different. S is wild, whereas B is very cautious. They do share many similarities, though, especially their love for exploration. At this toddler stage of S' life, we're having a lot of fun playing and learning through play. We're discovering some (new to S) old friends and favorite characters, and there is one lovable furry red friend that stands out above the rest.

Aiden eats popcorn almost every day and loves to take it in his lunchbox. I had never heard of The Little Kernel snacks and was excited to check them out. It is perfect for those back to school lunches and snacks.
I am all about saving time and money, as I'm sure you are too! I've never been one to jump on the meal prep train, but after making my lunch for this week, I could be converted!
Lately, money has been tight in our house. My supervisor caught me eating plain macaroni at my desk last week while working through my lunch break. Rather than giving me a raise (ha), she suggested I add some cheap, delicious, and good-for-you ingredients to my pasta to make myself a yummy pasta salad. For less than $6, I now have a healthy, delicious lunch for the entire week!
There’s nothing quite like looking around your home and loving your décor. The lounge has been fully furnished and repainted. The entrance hall literally makes an entrance with soft lighting and a bureau for keys and letters. The kitchen has had its shiny new worktops installed and the ability to stand back and look at all the handiwork is the satisfying feeling you’ve been waiting for. The thing is, no matter how much you like the ‘shell’ of each room, with its furnishings, colours and beautifully tailored curtains, there are still changes that can be made.
Dogs are pretty restless beings especially when they are little. It is in their nature to be carefree and playful. However this is something that is common for all the animals.
As they grow up, they become a part of biggest structure, bigger hierarchy where like wolves, they have a pack leader. It is a natural state of being for these animals.
Unlike the wild where one individual asserts control, in human world this control becomes loose after a while. This is precisely why some dogs become stubborn and undisciplined. And also why dog attention training in particular are so important for a pet and your relationship with him.
I received Magnolia and Vine product from Theresa in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Hello friends! I am so excited to introduce you to my new friend, Theresa Piontkowski. Theresa is an Independent Style Consultant with Magnolia and Vine. I had never heard of Magnolia and Vine and was very anxious to check it out and learn more about it. I was blown away by what Theresa sent to me. My dog is a part of our family and I love this book with yummy recipes just for him. We try not to give Bolt table food, but sometimes it's really hard because he has the cutest little face. Doggy Desserts is the way to his little doggy heart!
We hear it all the time as parents, teachers, and caregivers- affirming a child is vitally important to their personal growth and self-esteem. As someone who grew up singing or speaking in front of people, I also became used to being affirmed. Through the years, I have prayed fervently to maintain a humble heart. Everything that I do is an offering- an outpouring of myself, as one of the only ways I know how to give back and show my thanks and appreciation for the spiritual gifts that God has given me. I don't take the acceptance of those gifts lightly, and try my very best not to ever take them for granted.
You never know what's going to happen when you start a family. One of the many blessings of starting our little Mommy's Block Party family a few years ago is that is has grown! We've been so blessed to have such wonderful contributors to our site through the years, and today, we're officially welcoming three beautiful ladies to our talented team. We're so excited to have them come aboard, and we're looking forward to the fact that you'll get to know them through the wonderful stories they'll be sharing with you down the road.
I spend so much time at work, that all of the people there have become family. Saturday was our family fun day function and normally I would sit out but I decided it was important to go. It will be the last hurrah for Ethan before he starts his junior year of high school and my home family gets to see who I spend my days with.
Having the occasional treat in terms of food is fine. However, if you’re eating processed junk most of the time, you’re not going to be doing your health any favors at all. You may consider junk food to be things like chocolate and sweets, but it’s also things like microwave meals and some frozen foods. Something may not seem like junk, but the more ingredients it has, the more processed it usually is. Why should you make an effort to eat less of this junk?
Happy Saturday! This is our last weekend of summer vacation and the girls will be starting school on Monday! As much as I am dreading the end of summer, I am kind of looking forward to the routine that will come along with it. I need structure as much as the kids do!
Thank you to Kinzd for supplying products for me to review. All thoughts are my own.
I will admit that I like wallets and bags. I have more wallets and bags than I could ever possibly use. I always purchase another one in hopes that I'll find the perfect wallet or bag to fit my needs. Bags are easy for me, but wallets? Every store has a customer card and I can't carry all of them in a standard wallet. That is why I love Kinzd slim wallets!
Thank you to 5W PR for the samples. All thoughts are my own.
We're officially back to school, and are trying our darndest our get back into the 'school year routine.' I have to say, it hasn't been easy reverting back to a set schedule. We were pretty lax with things over the summer, and I did not miss packing lunches. Now that school has started, I am back to packing two lunch boxes every night- one for B (age 6), and one for my hubby (age 32). I usually pack lunches as I am cleaning up our dinner dishes, so that the kitchen is 100% ready to go for the next morning. Both my son and husband are picky eaters, so packing a lunch box isn't always as easy as tossing this and that into the lunch box, zipping it up, and then being done with it.

The garage has historically been the most under appreciated room in the home. But after a revival kick-started by makeover shows and an increased value placed upon them by prospective buyers, garages are now a major focal point. One of the ways to make your home the hottest property on the block is to renovate your garage, and one of the best ways to do that is to make it green.

Now that summer is setling down and school has started, we're getting back to basics as a family. What I mean by 'back to basics,' is no screen time after dinner, and more focused attention from me and my husband on making sure we have family time on the nights that we're both home with the kids. On Friday nights, we like to stay in and make our own pizzas and then enjoy family game night. Family game night was a family tradition for my family when I was growing up. I loved it- it was one of the only nights of the week that we were all home together and we had such fun laughing as we snacked and played games. Being able to share a similar tradition with my hubby and kids gives me all the feels!
If you've got children, of course you’re going to want all of you to feel happy, be healthy, and remain close knit for years to come. However, there are a few things you’ll need to do if you want that to be a reality. Here, we talk about some of the key things you’ll need to do!
Thank you to Andy & Evan for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts shared are my own.
This summer, we've enjoyed visiting so many beautiful and fun places. It really has been the 'summer of us.' We had a major bucket list cross-off event this year, and it's been such a blessing to have those experiences with our children. Through all of our travels, we've done a lot of packing and a lot of laundry. On our second trip of the summer, I wised up and decided that I was going to stop packing so many outfits for each child. When I pack for myself, I pack different tops that I can mix and match with different bottoms. It saves a ton of space, and as long as I have access to a laundry facility, I don't have to worry about those 'what if we have spills' thoughts that all moms have while traveling.
Those of you that are avid readers of this blog will know I’ve spoken about being healthy many times before. There are lots of things that come together to decide whether or not you’re healthy. One of those this is naturally going to be the issues and problems you might have going on inside your body. Do you have any illnesses or conditions that are affecting your health?
You may answer no to this, with which I’ll respond, are you sure? You see, there are plenty of hidden health problems you might have without even knowing about them. Bearing that in mind, I’m going to talk about the most common ones to help you figure out if you indeed have any hidden issues.

We're getting ready to wrap up the month of August in a few days, and it'll be time for Baby S to go to Day School. My sweet little girl will go to school for three hours a day, two days a week, and I'll admit... it's going to be a tough transition for the both of us. As we think through some of the items we need for sending her off to school, we're trying to get her to feel comfortable with a sippy cup that she actually likes and wants to drink from.

When it comes to home improvements, a lot of the time, it can be very easy to get caught up with the big jobs. Things like extensions, renovations, and room conversions are the kinds of home improvements that people tend to think about most. There's nothing wrong with this of course. However, it does mean that people often end up neglecting other home improvement jobs that could have a fantastic impact on their home simply because they aren't quite as significant overall. However, it's important not to ignore the smaller improvements to your home because many of them can make a big difference. With that in mind, here are some tiny improvements that you should try out in your home right now.
Thank you to Susan Jackson, Independent Tupperware Consultant, for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.
Last week was my son's first week back to school. He started on Wednesday, which means that I have already packed three school lunches. B was able to pick out a new lunch box this year (last year's lunch box barely survived the school year), which he was really excited about. The lunch box has a Marvel character theme, which B loves... but recently, he's been totally into Batman. My husband loves Batman, so it's no surprise that B is starting to love him, too. When I looked through new back to school products from Tupperware a few weeks ago, I was excited to see a cool lunch box set that I knew my little Batman fan would go crazy over.
Thank you to Recipe Table for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.
I love to cook for my family but like so many others, I find myself so busy that it's just easier to grab something on the way home. My goal for this new school year is to be better prepared and pre-plan our meals. I think the wonderful recipes from Recipe Table will be very helpful with my planning.
Thank you to Ventev for providing me products for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.
In 2014 we welcomed a beautiful baby boy, one that was opinionated and stubborn from day one. As new parents, to this colicky baby, we learned very quickly that we needed time alone to be rejuvenated. My husband wanted to go camping at his favorite spot in the Great Smoky Mountains, I knew he needed to get away and our son was five months old so of course, I could handle things. Then our little boy got really sick and I couldn't reach my husband. His signal was low on his cell phone which had caused his battery to lose power quickly. Without access to electricity, his phone died and he only knew that something was wrong but had no way to charge his phone. How I wish we would have had the powercell 3015c by Ventev back then!
Sometimes, we are our own biggest critic. We are quick to pick out our shortcomings, and even identify ourselves with them; "I can't make friends easily, I'm too shy", "I can't run a business, I don't have enough focus", "I wouldn't be a good athlete, I am not strong enough".
As we become wives and mothers, we can sometimes forget to do things for ourselves. We forget to put on our makeup and we struggle with making the day to day decisions that will impact not only ourselves but those that we care for. The one thing we should not forget is that we are someone other than mom, wife, or any other title. We are women. We are individuals and we have interests and hobbies that do not have to stop when we take on our titles. There are things you need to do for you.

Thank you to Playgro and ZIPIT for providing products for me to review. All opinions are 100% my own.
It's that time of year when everything gets hectic. Going back to school is so exciting and oh so stressful! My husband and I are both teachers so trying to get our classrooms ready and our children ready is a lot of stress. We are in the car a lot and the preschooler constantly wants another toy, marker, action figure or dinosaur handed to him and our (nearly) two month old is awake more and wants to be entertained. The ZIPIT Beast Box makes it easy to meet the toddler's needs while Playgro's Dingly Dangly Clip Clop has plenty to satisfy our curious baby girl's developmental needs.

This is it for me!! I love a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese....lots of cream cheese!
I do eat this for breakfast occasionally but I think I could have it every morning and never get tired of it. Creamy cheese on a warm, toasted bagel. If I had some, I would have one right now! My mouth is watering. What about you?

This summer has gone by in such a flash! We've been on the road, and have also had down time at home for a few weeks here and there. My little guy actually just started school this week, and we've spent a good deal of time getting ready to be focused on learning in the classroom by learning through play at home this summer. Since B was a baby/toddler, I have spent a lot of time and energy working with him on reading, math, and overall early childhood development. I started a homeschool preschool program with him when he was just shy of three years old, and haven't looked back since, supplementing what he's working on in school at home. I aim to do the same thing with Baby S, who is now 16 months old.
Today, my little dude started back to school for the 2017-2018 school year. I officially have a first grader in my house. How did this happen so quickly? It seems like only yesterday that we were prepping him for his first day of preschool, and now he's in a whole new school with new teachers and friends! I am so grateful that he's in such a safe, loving, Christian environment and loves his school.
