A Very Special Palm Sunday #Acts of Kindness

Coptic church in Aswan, Egypt

While catching up on the news on Palm Sunday, Ray and I learned about the horrific terror attack on two Coptic churches in Egypt, killing at least 47 people. Our family is Catholic, but we felt moved to go to the local Coptic church to show our support.

We went in with hopes that we would be welcome, but to be honest, I had no idea what to expect. The Coptic religion is one of the oldest, and has remained mostly unadulterated. The service was very different then what we are used to and absolutely beautiful!  Though most of the service was in languages I don't understand, the had screens set up to translate. The men of the church took turns reading the scripture aloud, and even asked Ray if he would like to read also. They sang about the greatness of God's love.

When the service ended, many people came over to greet us and were overjoyed that we came to visit. They invited us to join then for their Holy week celebrations, and introduced our daughters to the other children who were just as welcoming as their parents. It felt like we took a time-machine back in time where church was more simple, and truly about loving God and being part of a community.

Our family truly appreciates the kindness we were shown that day. After the experience Ray and I felt closer to God and to each other. It also showed us that among the hustle and bustle of the DMV area there are still sanctuaries where people break bread together and enjoy the word of God.

Lull Your Baby to Sleep with HoMedics Sound Machine #review

Thank you to HoMedics for the sample. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

HoMedics creates a variety of products for relaxation and rejuvenation. For this review, I was lucky to receive the MyBaby Deep Sleep SoundSpa. It has six different sounds, a variety of volumes, and a timer if you don't want it on constantly.

We have had a tough time getting our little one to sleep on his own and more through the night. Hendrix's favorite song is "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" so he'll turn it on himself. He appreciates the background noise, especially since it is his favorite lullaby. I personally enjoy the nature sounds if I need to relax a little.

Weekends with the Wigglesworths- Happy Earth Day 2017!

The weekend has FINALLY arrived! I spent the week volunteering at the girls' school for the book fair, so I am still feeling pretty worn out, but I am so excited about the day.

It'll be just me and the girls today, and I have ideas for our own Earth day celebration. First, we'll go out to the yard and pick up any trash that we see. Next, we'll check out the seeds they received for Easter and see which ones we can start planting; I'm hopeful that one of the girls has a green thumb, because their Mom certainly does not. Last, we'll likely just spend some time getting fresh air and checking out some of the books that we got from the book fair*.

I hope you enjoy your Saturday (and Sunday too!).

*Sidenote: If you love books, have a bunch of them, and probably shouldn't buy more, do NOT volunteer at the school book fair. If for some reason you do, be sure to leave your debit card at home!

Treat Mom's Feet with Therafit Sandals for Mother's Day + Rose Sandals #Giveaway

Thank you to Therafit for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

As a mom, what do I really want for Mother's Day? I want to be able to spend time with my kids, without being in pain. 10+ years after a bad knee injury, I am finding myself in almost constant pain from my knee. Walking around, playing on the floor, and normal everyday activities for a mom with two little ones are less than enjoyable when dealing with knee pain. Over the years, I have tried lots of different shoes and sandals to help give me an extra little boost of support, but most have failed to be comfortable or fashionable.

Meet Infra the Robot from The Young Scientists Club #review

Thank you to The Young Scientists Club for providing me with product in exchange for my review. All thoughts are my own.

Aiden is very excited to share his experience with Infra the Robot. This was a fun project that Aiden and his Daddy worked on together.  Infra is a build your own robot from the Funtastic Robot series.  We thought Infra would be fun because you use any remote control in your home to control her.  Infra uses the infrared signal to move.  Aiden worked with his Daddy to put her together and the instructions that were included were very easy to read and understand.  Once she was together, it was fun watching Aiden use our TV remote and Infra would scoot across the floor.  Bolt, our little dog, also enjoyed her.

I'm Dreaming of Summer Break and a Family Vacation to Florida

Happy Friday friends! I've been volunteering at the book fair at the girls' school all week, and let me tell you 2 things-
1. Teachers (most of them) are SAINTS in disguise
2. I am so so ready for Summer!
We had quite a few snow days this year, so our last day of school went from a tentative date of June 9th to June 21st! I am having a hard time dealing with it, especially because both girls are in school and I go a little stir crazy when I am home alone (hence the reason I jumped at the chance to work the book fair all week this week).

Kids Shine this Spring in Bold Basics by Primary + $50.00 Gift Card Giveaway

Thank you to Primary for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review.

If you're like me, you want your kids to be stylish, yet comfortable. You probably also don't want to spend an arm and a leg on clothes that they're going to grow out of in just a few weeks or months. B is six years old, and he is growing so fast! I was prepared for Baby S to grow out of clothes quickly, but B is just a weed, and every time I turn around, he's had another growth spurt. The kid likes what he likes, and he's not one to wear uncomfortable clothes at home, school, to church or for everyday play. Over the years, I feel like I have spent a small fortune on clothes for him. I finally found a kids clothing brand that caters to kids of all ages and offers quality, affordable basics for all.

Easy Pizza Roll-Ups Your Kids will Actually Eat

What do you do when your kid is starving and begging for pizza, but you have no frozen pizzas, and you don't want to order one? You make Pizza Roll-ups, of course! All you need are three ingredients, and I would venture to guess that you probably keep all three of them in stock at all times... I know I do. If you have a can of refrigerated crescent rolls, tomato sauce, and Mozzarella cheese, you can have a yummy pizza lunch or dinner ready in about 15 minutes. Now that's what I call easy, and delicious! Continue reading for the recipe and directions.

The Secret Art Of Home Comfort

Something that you can’t argue with is that we all want to be as comfortable as possible in our own homes. No matter what your home is like, or who you live with or how many, there is a definite need to be as comfortable as you can get it. The truth is, many people really struggle with actually making their home as comfortable as possible, and the reason for that is because it is surprisingly difficult to marry all of the separate elements into one. To be able to do it, the first essential step is to know what the separate elements are so that you can make each one work for you. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how you can achieve a greater level of comfort in your home with a few simple changes.

Calling all kids of the 80's & 90's! If you grew up in either of these decades, more than likely, you were a fan of RUGRATS. Vacation Prep 101: Everything You Need For A Fantastic Family Holiday

If you’re a parent, you may feel like everything you do turns into a military-style operation. It can often be a mission just to get out of the door even if you only need to pop down to the shop for a carton of milk or a loaf of bread. When it comes to planning a vacation, the logistics can be tricky, but don’t let that put you off. If you’re organized, and you plan ahead, there’s nothing to stop you from having a fantastic family holiday.

Wordless Wednesday- Exploring Your Own "Backyard"

Last week, we took a quick trip to Southford Falls, here in Connecticut. I am kicking myself for not bringing my "real" camera, but I was feeling a little overwhelmed that day and I just didn't feel like having to worry about something else. The weather was not as nice as we had hoped for, so our trip was brief, but the scenery and fresh air were well worth it. We cannot wait to go back for a picnic soon!

Cream Cheese Mints #tastytuesday

I saw this recipe on a friend's Facebook page and thought these mints looked delicious!  Mints are one of my most favorite things and there is a little local store here that has pulled Butter Mints at Christmas and I always go buy some.  These look like them so I had to try them out.  The recipe I used and that I am sharing with you came from Trish on the Mom on Timeout blog.  I did find many of these recipes on Pinterest and they were all about the same.

Celebrate All the Birthdays #MondayMotivation

With the whirlwind weekend came a beautiful Easter celebration, and we also had a celebration for my dad's birthday. April has been a fun month, because Baby S turned one a couple of weeks ago, and my dad's birthday has always been a big to-do. We love birthdays and celebrations! This year, we were pretty exhausted from Easter services and Holy Week, so we kept it low-key for the birthday celebration for my dad.

Weekends with the Wigglesworths- Spring Break is Winding Down

Happy Saturday! I'm sad to report that our Spring break is just about over, already. Even though it went by entirely too fast, as "vacations" tend to do, we had a lot of great fun and enjoyed checking things off of our "Spring Break Bucket List".

Bunny Munch: A Yummy Easter Treat!

Easter is just a couple of days away, and my family is looking forward to getting together to celebrate. First, we'll gather to color Easter eggs on Good Friday. It's a family tradition, one that four generations participate in and enjoy. Grands and cousins will all converge and share their best designs on their eggs. While we work, we like to have snacks to munch on. B asked if we could make a special Easter snack to take over for the special event, and we decided on a quick and easy Bunny Munch snack mix. No one's going to be able to resist this yummy mix of treats!

Dreaming of Disney

This summer, my family and I are heading south. That's right, we're going to Florida. I am excited to be going to the 2017 BlogHer Conference in Orlando, and the entire family is tagging along. We'll be staying at a fun condo community in Kissimmee, and of course I have promised a very sweet little boy that we can spend a day at Disney World. As soon as I mentioned the possibility of going to Disney, his eyes lit up, and he began counting down to our trip.

Shoplet and Avery Ultra Tabs...Get Organized! #review

My friends at Shoplet must have seen my desk at school and home because they sent me these awesome Avery Ultra Tabs and boy do I need them.  I have so many notebooks for different things and they all need to be organized.  So far, I have gotten my Summer Camp notebook organized by camp week.  I love these tabs from Avery.  They stick right to my page and I can write on them and they are smudge proof.  These little guys will be in all my notebooks just as soon as I have time to go through them and figure out what I have.  That's a job in itself!  I love Shoplet.  They have everything you could possibly need for your office or schools.  Take some time to check them out.  You will find all that you need.

Easter Basket Book Picks from DK Publishing #MBPEGG17

Thank you to DK Publishing for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts ahred are my own.

Peter Cottontail will soon be hopping down the bunny trail. Yes, Easter is on its way, and my kids are ready. Peter Cottontail, however, still needs a few good ideas for filling those Easter baskets! As kids, we love these holiday characters and see them as magical friends who bring treats to boys and girls all over the world. As adults, we often lose that child-like wonder and excitement, because we actually have to become the Easter Bunny, Santa, the Tooth Fairy, etc. Playing the Easter Bunny doesn't have to be tough. Keeping Easter baskets simple makes it fun and enjoyable for the whole family.

My Last Baby is Five

Last Picture as a 4 Year Old

Last night was a pretty big milestone. My last baby, my youngest girl, spent her last night as a 4 year old. It didn't really bother me (too much) during the day yesterday, but this morning, it hit me HARD.

Crispy Rice Eggs for Your Easter Celebration

Looking for a quick and easy activity/snack that you can make with your kids for Easter? My six-year-old son has been begging to make Easter treats this week, and it just so happens that we're getting together with family on Friday to dye Easter eggs. Since the treats can be taken over to the celebration, and don't have to sit in my house, I gave in and told him that we could make a couple of snacks. B is a big fan of Crispy Rice Cereal Treats, and we decided to go off-road this time, and make them festive for Easter by making Crispy Rice Easter Eggs.

God Loves Mommy & Me: A Perfect Board Book for Easter

Thank you to FrontGate Network for providing product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

My sweet little girl is gearing up for her very first Easter celebration. Looking back through old photos, one of my favorite pictures is of my own first Easter. The photo shows me and my dad, at my grandmother's kitchen table, and an enormous Easter basket in front of me, with a huge chocolate bunny in the center. I was one year old in that photo. While I may not be putting chocolate bunnies in my baby girl's first Easter basket, I do want to give her some sweet gifts that she will enjoy. Among the little things that I have chosen for her basket are baby toys, baby crayons, puff snacks, and a couple of sweet books.

Make Time for Easter Memories

It's Spring Break for this little dude! I was really worried that having both kids at home with me this week would be maddening, but I have been pleasantly surprised. B can sometimes have a bit of an attitude problem (as we all can), but he has been so patient, helpful, and kind this week. We started the week off by visiting Dan Nicholas Park on Sunday afternoon. It's one of the premier parks in our area, and has everything from paddle boats and hiking trails to a wildlife adventure and carousel.

Build a Better Easter Basket with LEGO BATMAN Goodies!

Thank you to LEGO for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

Easter is just around the corner, and I am so excited to put together the Easter baskets for my family. I love Easter, and love seeing their faces when they find their Easter baskets after church on Easter Sunday! I have always made up an Easter basket for my husband, and I have loved putting together an Easter basket for my son these past five years. B has a lot of loves in his life, but his love for LEGO knows no bounds. Just the other day we were shopping, and just had to stop into the LEGO store to see what was new.

Easy Baby Food Prep & Tips #TastyTuesday

Our little girl has begun the adventure of real food this month!
This month, our little one turned half a year old! It is amazing how quickly time has gone by, yet I am reminded that someone once told me that "time passes so quickly because we were made for eternity!" I have spent a lot of the last six months in awe of how perfectly designed little humans are.  God made us all so intricately and it is just amazing to watch how we develop into the full-size humans we are to become! One day, we are little squishes who hate tummy time and just face plant into the blanket, and in the blink of an eye, we can roll over and sit up on our own!

Why Your Kids Need A Summer Den

Warmer weather brings lighter evenings and with that brings lazy summers spent in the garden. When the kids are off school and you’re stuck for project ideas, getting them in the great outdoors is usually favored option in the heat. Kids get easily bored during the long summer vacation and trying to find ways to entertain them can get boring!

What better way to start the summer by asking the kids what kind of den they would like, then allowing them to help you build it? Every child should have an outdoor house or tree house in the garden where they can use their imagination and play.

Adorable Pals for Their Easter Baskets from Aurora + Miyoni Tots Lamb Plush #Giveaway #MBPEGG17

Thank you to Aurora for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

Who's ready for Easter? It's not far off, and this year, I am so excited to be able to put together not one, but two cute Easter baskets. I love my sweet kids, and love being able to present them with adorable toys and plush pals that they'll enjoy playing with. I also plan to make a little Easter basket for my sweet neice, M. Easter is a special time for our family. In the past years, my husband has always traveled to Washington DC to play an Easter Sunday gig at the army base (Ft. Myer). Since he's always away on Easter, I like to make it extra special for the kiddos. This is the first year that hubby will actually be in town (found a gig much closer to home), and it'll be the first Easter that he spends with both kids. I am excited to have his help putting the Easter baskets together!

Family's First Trip: Keeping It Stress-Free

Traveling with all the gang as a family for the very first time can be both exciting and nerve wracking. Most parents imagine a whole myriad of things going wrong - you could end up stuck in traffic jams, your flight might be delayed, and your kids could get sick while abroad. But it doesn’t have to end up in disaster. In fact, spending some time away from home is a great way to hang out with your favorite people!

To make sure your trip isn’t fraught with stress and anxiety, here are some awesome tips that will help you keep your cool!

Personalized Chalkboards for Your Next Celebration + Birthday Chalkboard Digital File #Giveaway

Thank you to M & M Chalkboards for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts shared are my own.

One of the things that I have enjoyed when party planning in the past, is finding a way to include cute little facts and information about my kids. Bein able to share about their milestones, and the things they like. Baby S has a strong personality, and she has grown so much in the past year- from a tiny little bean to a beautiful (now) toddler. Her first year of life went by so quickly... I want to be able to capture all of those special moments so I will remember them, always!

Try Something New #motivationmonday

Well, I remained inconsistent with my workout schedule in March. I was sick for part of the month as well as Hendrix and Jon, so that didn't help much. I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't lost any either.

Perfect Party Banners from Emmy J Creations

Thank you to Emmy J Creations for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

When I began looking for party decor to match a purple butterfly theme for Baby S' first birthday party, I knew that I wanted to incorporate a few different colors. Shades of purple, white, silver, and gold seemed to fit the festive bill. I was certain that I would never find exactly what I wanted as far as birthday banners went. If you know me, you know that I am a stickler for details, and I want perfection when it comes to the parties I host. This was a very special party, and I wanted the very best for my sweet girl.

Acts of Kindness- The Kids Are Watching

Sorry for the grainy photo, I snapped it quickly a few days ago, but it fit in well with today's post and I wanted to use it.

I have 2 daughters. They are at the ages now (9 and 4/almost 5) where a lot of the times the youngest wants nothing more than to be with her sister and the oldest wants nothing more than space from her sister.

Weekends with the Wigglesworths- Our Spring Recess Bucket List

Happy Saturday! Yesterday afternoon was the kick off to our Spring vacation. The girls will be off from school for the next 9 days. Although we aren't going anywhere for this particular vacation, we did take the time to make a "Spring Recess Bucket List" to help us enjoy our time a little more purposefully.

The first thing on our list is heading to the movies. Since the girls are both really excited to see The Boss Baby and Smurfs: The Lost Village, a trip to the movie theater was a definite thing to add to our list.

Keeping Your Family Healthy And Happy With Food

Food is one of the most important things we use to keep us healthy. When used properly, it can make us pretty happy too. If we spend all of our time eating junk food, we’re going to feel rubbish. The food might taste good at first, but afterward, you can bet you’re going to feel sluggish and gross. If we eat whole, natural foods most of the time, we’re going to feel far more energized and happy. This doesn’t mean you only eat ‘rabbit food’ and starve. It means you eat enough of the right foods. Here are some tips you can use to keep your family healthy and happy with food!

OxyLED Motion Sensor-A Light for Everywhere #review

Thank you to OxyLED for the Motion Sensor. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was lucky enough to review an OxyLED nightlight previously. This time I am fortunate enough to review their motion sensor light.

The most difficult thing for me was to decide where to use it! Since I couldn't decide on one location, I chose a few to try.

Get a Good Night's Sleep with Mediflow Gel Memory Pillow #review #giveaway

I am a horrible sleeper.  I have spent lots of money on trying different pillows that promise this and that.  I have had some that have worked but they just don't seem to last.  I have been using the Mediflow Memory Foam Waterbase Pillow for two weeks and I have noticed a huge difference in my sleep. his is such a comfy pillow.  I filled mine with water to make it firm.  You can fill the pillow to the degree of firmness that you prefer.  My pillow is heavy because I put 4 quarts of water in it.  It was very easy to get the water in the pillow.

Bone Booster: Strengthen Kids' Bones With These Amazing Tips

Kids are often boisterous and full of beans, and they’re are often making plenty of mischief when they are outside running after each other. And all that activity will mean that they are likely to suffer a few bumps and grazes while they are playing. But what if one of their smaller injuries actually caused something a lot more serious, such as a broken bone? Well, thankfully, that isn’t something you need to worry about too much if you ensure that your child’s bones develop strongly.

4-7-8 #Fitness Friday

4-7-8 Breathing Method

I'm not going to lie, being a stay at home mom is stressful! My younger daughter just turned 2 and is becoming quite mischievous and my older daughter HATES to sleep. I would honestly like to spend a week alone on a far away island but can't even go to the bathroom by myself most days!

I decided to research some natural stress relieving techniques and discovered the 4-7-8 method. It's easy to do almost anywhere and has come in handy when I feel myself losing patience.
