Weekends with the Wigglesworths- Going to School on the Weekend

Happy Saturday!

Our week was pretty hectic, but we made it to the weekend, and I am so glad about it. This weekend, both D and I will be heading to school. I'll be taking a Coupon Class at a local middle school today and D will be heading to her school for an all-day play rehearsal tomorrow.

I am hoping that at some point during our weekend, we will be able to rearrange the living room a bit. We are still working on moving our old entertainment center. We have no idea what we are doing with it (since it is so large), so it has just been sitting in the same spot, even though the television has long been moved to its new spot. I do have an idea for the space, once it is moved, so I hope it happens sooner rather than later!

IKEA hack! Billy bookcases turned cubbies!:
Matt's cousin, the ridiculously talented Suzanne, used Billy Bookcases from IKEA to set up these awesome cubbies. I have been pretty much OBSESSED with the idea since I saw her picture.

Meet Your Child's New Favorite Treat: TEDDY Soft Bakes! #MBPEGG17

Thank you to TEDDY for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

What kinds of snacks do your kids like? My son has inherited his mom's sweet tooth, and at the moment, he's like a bottomless pit. When he gets home from school, he wants a snack... and then maybe one or two more until dinner is ready. He's a growing boy, and he's the tallest kid in his kindergarten class. I want to give him wholesome snacks that are made with real ingredients, and that he'll really enjoy.

Travel Tips [wanted]

My husband, daughter and I will be taking our first family of three vacation together in May of this year! Our little girl will be 8 months old when we go on our trip, so I know I will need to be prepared in all kinds of ways! Because, let's face it... she's super cute but girlfriend is needy! (And do I ever love being her mommy and providing for all those needs!!)
Our Super Cute Girl

We have decided to travel to Washington DC for a couple of reasons.  First of all, it has been on our list for a while because my husband has not been since he was a child.  Secondly, I feel like it is a great place to travel with a baby because there are a lot of things to do for free! And if an afternoon goes south in a hurry due to a nap protesting 8-month old, we don't have to feel bad, or like we wasted any money on buying tickets to whatever we have planned!

The White House, Washington DC
So, not having ever traveled with a baby, we would love some advice! What are the must bring essentials to make baby and momma and daddy's trip enjoyable?

I know for certain I will have my breast pump, Tula baby carrier, stroller, and diapers.  We usually cloth diaper, however I think we will use disposables for our trip.

Being able to wear Ruby in our Tula will be really convenient walking around DC!

Breast Pump = Must Take

As you can tell, by my extensive list of 4 items, I am super prepared for this upcoming adventure! This is why I am coming to Mommy's Block Party to ask for some guidance! Any help would be much appreciated! I would also love to hear about your favorite things to do in Washington DC!

Washington DC

So help a momma out in the comments below!

I will write about our adventures and let you all know how it goes after our trip in May! Thanks for your help!

*All photos except the second (super cute baby shot) are NOT my originals and were found on Google*

Renovation Revelations: Things To Be Aware of When Restoring a Property

Looking to achieve your dream home? Buying a cheap, run down property which has potential and then doing it up yourself is a good way to go about it. You can transform it into anything you want, and have a say over everything from the layout to the finishes. It’s far cheaper than buying a house that’s ‘move in ready’ so you’ll get more for your money. Or perhaps you’re looking to get in property, ‘flipping houses’ can be very lucrative, and done well can seriously line your pockets. However, renovating isn’t without its risks. Not only do you need to have patience and creative vision when working on transforming a home, but properties (especially older ones can) contain all kinds of hidden secrets. These issues than can put a dent in your budget or even cause you to lose money overall. Here are some of the common issues to watch out for when you’re renovating a property.

Extend the Life of Your Batteries with Batteroo #review

Do you feel like there is always something that needs new batteries?  I sure do.  I am so excited to learn about Batteroo and try them out in my house.  This could be a game changer for us! Batteroo is a battery booster.  Batteroo is a reusable sleeve for your disposable batteries.  It will extend the life of your battery.  It seems like the battery in the Xbox controls dies every other week, so I am super excited to see how long they last with the Batteroo sleeve on them.  I am also using Batteroo on all of our TV remotes.  I received a package of AA and AAA Batteroos.  They have been on my disposable batteries for a little over a week, so I will update you on the success of them.  However, I did read some other reviews on them and I hope I have the same success that I read about.

Wordless Wednesday- 15 Years Later

Today, Matt and I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary! I cannot believe it has already been 15 years and I don't know where I'd be without him. He is my best friend and sometimes the biggest pain in the rear and I'm sure he'd tell you the same about me.

Gooey Crock Pot Chicken & Noodles #Recipe

Last week, I was desperate for a quick meal that I could make in my trusty crock pot. I rely on the crock pot at least once a week for a meal that I really don't have to think about, and that I can leave cooking at home when we're going to be home late. I didn't have time to go grocery shopping for additional ingredients and needed to use what I had in the pantry and fridge. I grabbed some chicken, and a few other simple food staples, and concocted a deliciously creamy, cheesy chicken and noodle dish that the whole family loved!

Shop Smart & Save When You Buy Visa Gift Cards at Participating Retailers! #ahold15off

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

These days, we're all looking for ways to save a little money- or maybe even a lot of money. It's springtime, and that means that summertime is next up to bat. Everyone looks forward to taking their families on vacation during the summertime, but it can be difficult to find ways to save and make those family vacation dreams a reality. Having a few tricks up your sleeve for saving the most money possible is one of the best ways to ensure that you'll get to take that family vacation you so desire, after all.

Sound the Alarm- it's Spring!

So, it's Monday again, and I am struggling. The weekend was filled with its usual Witt Family craziness, and I stayed out past my mommy curfew two nights in a row! My behind is dragging today, even more so because I overslept, which I never do! My son sauntered into my bedroom at 7:05 this morning to say, 'Mommy, it's 7 o'clock! It's time to get up for school!' I jumped out of bed in a panic. If our morning schedule is off by just a few minutes, I fear that the rest of the day will be way out of sync.

Monday Motivation- Awesome Day Ahead

Today will be an absolutely amazing day, all because you are a part of it! You are one kick butt Mama and even Monday is no match for you!

Why Gardens Can Be Much More Than A Play Area For Kids

We are always looking for ways for our children to learn when they are at our home. After all, it’s just as much our responsibility to teach our kids as it is their teachers. And it’s letting them down if they spend every evening and weekend in front of the TV or laptop. Therefore, we need to find fun but educational things for them to do while they are at the humble abode. And one thing you should consider is heading outside in the garden with the kids. While a lot of people will think this means their children will just spend hours playing out in the yard, they are wrong. There is so much to do and see in the garden that makes it a great learning experience for kids. In fact, you might be surprised how many skills they pick up from the yard. Therefore, here are some reasons why gardens can be much more than a play area for children.

Acts of Kindness: Don't Forget To Be Kind to Yourself

This post is going to be short and sweet but it is going to be real.

I am a nurturer. I come from a long line of women who "fix." It is in the nature of women to be this way. We give to others. We lend a hand, a heart, an ear to another who needs it. We give so much of ourselves every single day, that we have little left in which to care for ourselves.

Weekends with the Wigglesworths- Party Time!

Happy Saturday! This weekend the Wigglesworth crew will be celebrating the birthdays of some of our favorite people. The girls' cousin, "Baby A" is turning 1 on Monday, so we will be celebrating with him today. Tomorrow, R and I will be heading to Chuck E. Cheese (I am already feeling a sensory overload) to celebrate with her classmate "B", who just turned 5 this past Wednesday. D will be staying home with Matt, since she has been dying to get some Dad and Daughter video game time in.

Save Up to 11% on Gift Cards with #CardOffer317 + $100 Amazon GC #Giveaway

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

How many times a year do you find yourself buying gift cards? For a long time, I stopped buying gift cards as gifts, because I felt like it wasn't personal enough. After becoming a mom, I realized that when it comes to giving gifts, it's the thought that counts. My time is precious, and as much as I love to give gifts, I also love spending time with my family as opposed to spending my time running from store to store to hunt for the 'perfect gift.'

New Turtle Shelter Exhibit at SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord is Worth a Visit! #SeaLifeCC

Thank you to SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord for providing us with complimentary tickets for a visit, in exchange for this feature. All thoughts shared are my own.

One of the best things about living in the Piedmont of North Carolina, is being nestled in the middle of the tri-ad area. The tri-ad consists of Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. Charlotte-Concord is booming with shops, restaurants and attractions, and it's only about a 25-30 mile distance from my house. One of our favorite places to visit on the weekend is Concord Mills, which is home to SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord. SEA LIFE is our favorite local aquarium, and we recently visited to check out their new Turtle Shelter Exhibit!

Calling All Divas: Get Your Bling On with Paparazzi by Penny #MBPSSG17

Thank you to Paparazzi by Penny for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

My husband and I were recently discussing his addiction to outerwear. He has so many coats, jackets, and vests that I can hardly weed through them all to get to one of my coats when I need one. He then pointed out all of my jewelry, and I have to admit- he had me there. I do love jewelry of all shapes, colors, and sizes. It's easy to get a little carried away when you find a jewelry company that you truly love, and that's what I've found in Paparazzi Accessories.

Life is a Little Brighter with FamilyTraditions

I grew up in a very different household. My parents separated when I was one so I traveled back and forth to houses on the weekends. When I was 11, my mother passed away and I lived with my dad, aunt, and uncle. My mom's family never really had a strong history of traditions and neither did my dad's family.

Change Up Your Hair with #Divatress #Beauty #ad

This is a sponsored post. All opinions shared are my own.

Have you ever wanted to change your hairstyle without having to go to drastic lengths to make the change? When I was in high school, the pixie haircut was all the rage, and I couldn't wait to trade my long locks for a short new do. I summoned all of my courage, and brought my sister and best gal pal along for moral support, and headed to the salon with a magazine photo of the hairstyle I wanted in hand. What I wound up with was a disaster!

Disney·Pixar's COCO - New Teaser Trailer Now Available! #COCO #DisneyPixar

Who's ready to see another new trailer for one of Disney Pixar's upcoming releases? Gosh, Disney is rockin' it this year, as they keep rolling out with so many awesome movies! We're adding COCO to our must see list, and can't wait for its release! I am so excited to share with you the brand new teaser trailer for Disney·Pixar’s COCO that is now available! This looks like a great film, and I know my little dude is definitely going to want to see it! Check out the trailer!

St. Paddy's Day Pot o' Gold Craft

Want to make a cute and easy craft with the kids to celebrate St. Patrick's Day? I have the perfect idea for you that takes just a few minutes to make, and will only cost a few dollars in supplies. My husband's family is part Irish, so it's fun to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the kids, and get them into the spirit of the holiday. Over the next few days, we'll be making crafts, special snacks, and even preparing an Irish feast to enjoy on the 17th!

Wacky Weather #WordlessWednesday

Spring Forward in Breezy Looks from Masala Baby + $75.00 GC #Giveaway

Thank you to Masala Baby for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

Can anyone tell me what season it is? Last week, it was 75 degrees and sunny in NC, and on Sunday morning, we woke up to snow. The groundhog had it right- we've definitely seen a good mix of winter lingering around for those last six weeks. We're in the home stretch, and spring is around the corner. I normally love winter, but for some reason, I have never been more excited to kiss it goodbye. It might have something to do with the fact that Baby S and I are chomping at the bit to wear some gorgeous new spring dresses!

DOWAN Bowls...perfect for anything you need to put in a bowl!! #review

I received this set of 6 porcelain square cereal bowls.  They are 20 ounce bowls.  I love the size and shape of these bowls.  They nest so nicely in each other and don't take up much space in my cabinets.  They are the perfect size bowl for Aiden to eat his cereal in or basically anything else that we need to eat in a bowl. I love that they are microwave and dishwasher safe. They arrived very securely packaged and in perfect condition.  We will use these daily.  You need a set of these in your cabinets!

Tasty Tuesday- Irish Stew

As you know, St. Patrick's Day is this Friday. Here at Wigglesworth Manor, we've been making Irish Stew for St. Patrick's day since 2012. That was the year that I had not remembered what day it was until it was too late, so I didn't have time to prepare myself to make a corned beef and cabbage dinner for the first time ever (all these years later, I still haven't made it!).

Sing It Now, Songs of Faith & Hope by Reba McEntire CD #Review + #Giveaway

Thank you to Capitol Records for providing me with product for my review. All thoughts shared are my own.

When it comes to music, I have an affinity for the greats... the greatest sings, and the greatest singers and musicians of our time. In my book, Reba McEntire is one of the greats. I have never really been a big fan of country music (except for a strange country phase in college, thanks to my roommate), but Reba's voice is one that I love to listen to.

Baby Steps #MondayMotivation

Was your weekend as jam-packed and as exhausting as mine was? Honestly, every weekend, my family says that we're going to sleep in, or that we're just going to chill out and do 'house stuff' that needs to be done... and then every weekend, we end up running around like mad! This weekend was filled to the max, and although it was busy, it wound up being a fantastic weekend for the whole family.

Thank you to Tutu USA for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts shared are my own.

St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner, and we're so excited to celebrate! One of the best things about St. Patrick's Day this year, is that it falls on a Friday. We're gearing up for the holiday by planning some fun crafts and activities at home, and I am hoping that we can get the whole family together to enjoy some good food and each other's company. Baby S is going to be celebrating, too... in a gorgeous St. Patrick's Day tutu set from Tutu USA.

Weekends with the Wigglesworths- Exploring the Town

Happy Saturday morning. We are getting ready to head out and explore our town this morning. Specifically, we are heading out to breakfast at a new diner, Mary's 2, that opened relatively close to us. The girls have been excited to try it out since we saw them putting up their cow statue (some sort of mascot I suppose) on the building.

Let's Get Building with Strictly Briks Baseplates & More! #Review #MBPEASTER17

Thank you to Strictly Briks for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

Are there brick fans in your life? You know the people I'm talking about... the ones who are obsessed with all things bricks. LEGO, MegaBloks, DUPLO, Kreo... the list goes on. My two guys love building with bricks. Hubby is a LEGO lover, even at age 31. Our son B, loves to create and play with bricks of all kinds. He's partial to LEGO, but also loves some of the other brands. For the longest time, I have tried to tell B that he really needed to get a few building plates, so he'd have an area to build his creations on, and a way to leave them set up and left out for future play.
FYI- I always thought that those building plates were necessary, but kind of expensive. That was all before I found Strictly Briks.

You don’t know how important good dental health is until you have an issue. Although bad breath, gum disease, mouth sores, tooth decay and dry mouth are far from fun, there are ways that you can prevent the issues from occurring in the first place.

Tooth Decay
Eating a healthy diet isn’t always easy. But if you have children, you can teach them how to prepare nutritious recipes at an early age by cooking with your kids. Limiting sugar isn’t just for weight loss. Avoiding candy, cookies and other sweet substances helps reduce your chances of tooth decay.
