Standard Cocoa Box (#Review)

There's only one thing equal to my love of coffee, and that would be my love of chocolate. Don't worry, I love God, my family, and other things more than coffee and chocolate- but these are my sweet indulgences, and I don't want to know what life is like without them. Now, when I say that I love chocolate, that doesn't mean that I love ALL chocolate. I am picky when it comes to the chocolate that goes into my mouth, because I know that only certain chocolates can make my taste buds dance.

Standard Cocoa- Monthly Craft Chocolate Subscription

What would you say if I told you that you can have delicious, fair trade, artisan chocolate delivered to your door once a month? In the famous words of my Uncle Chris, 'Get out!' Well, it's true! In fact, I've just experienced it for myself! I stumbled upon Standard Cocoa when I was researching a few monthly subscription boxes, and knew that I had to find out more about them, and thought that you all would love to know more about them, too!

Standard Cocoa has a simple mission- to connect people who love craft chocolate with the people who love to make chocolate. So, every month, Standard Cocoa selects a craft chocolate maker to be featured through their monthly chocolate box. Standard Cocoa selects three unique flavors of chocolate, and then they send them out to their subscribers. Yeah- it's pretty sweet!

Our very first chocolate box from Standard Cocoa!

I was sent a complimentary box from Standard Cocoa, and couldn't wait to see what delicious flavors of chocolate my husband and I would be experiencing together! Our box contained information from Standard Cocoa about the source of the cacao in our chocolate, info about the chocolate artist, etc.

We received three individually wrapped chocolate bars...

Each chocolate bar was wrapped, and then wrapped again in brown paper, tied with a piece of string, and hand stamped with the Standard Cocoa stamp. I couldn't wait to unwrap each one of them to find out what flavors we got!

Our three bars of American-Crafted Chocolate

I discovered that our box featured chocolate crafter Patric in Missouri, and featured cacao from Madagascar. These packages almost looked too pretty to open and devour, but it had to be done, for the sake of taste-testing.

I knew my husband was going to be head over heels in love with the PBJ OMG Chocolate Bar, because he is a huge lover of peanut butter. He was absolutely giddy when he saw the chocolate bar, and asked if he could take it to work with him the next day to 'snack on.' I said, 'sure,' and when he came home, he told me that he'd eaten the entire thing! I never got to taste the PBJ OMG chocolate, but Sacha said that it was the best peanut butter chocolate combo he had ever tasted (and he's picky!), so I knew it had to be true!

Don't even think about getting between me and my chocolate from Standard Cocoa!

I was eager to taste the Madagascar 75% Dark Chocolate Bar, because I love dark chocolate. Forget milk chocolate- that stuff is for kids. Serious chocolate lovers love to go dark, and if you've never experienced it, so are seriously missing out! With this chocolate bar, it was love at first bite! I immediately tasted an almost fruity flavor, which I know seems silly, but that's exactly what I noticed right off. I could only take two bites, which I let melt in my mouth (come on, you don't chew through craft chocolate- you have truly experience it!), before I'd had enough. It was quite possibly the most incredible tasting dark chocolate I have ever tasted!

Just look at these yummy cocoa nibs!

We also received the In-NIB-itable Bar of dark chocolate with crunchy cocoa nibs. I was going nuts to try this one, too! Again, a dark chocolate bar, with an added bonus of cocoa nibs, which I love! The nibs were both on the chocolate bar, and loose from it. It took a bite from the corner of the bar, and marveled in the perfection of this chocolate. It wasn't nearly as dark as the Madagascar bar, but that's okay, because I appreciate all levels of dark chocolate, and this one was deliciously creamy and smooth, like a bold cup of coffee! The nibs were crunchy and cute, an added little treat and a bit of texture to the creamy bar.

I still have a little bit of both of those chocolate bars left. I keep my stash of dark chocolate hidden and reserved for times where I am feeling stressed out, in need of chocolate during my time of the month, and so on. Hey- a girl just needs her chocolate, what can I say?

Standard Cocoa- Monthly Craft Chocolate Subscription

It's easy to subscribe to Standard Cocoa, and there are a few different options to choose from. A monthly box will run you $27.50 per month. A 3-Month subscription works out to $25.00/month, and then the best value is a 6-month subscription at $22.50/mo. Shipping is always free to Standard Cocoa subscribers, and though the pricing may seem steep, it's really not. Think about how much you might already spend on candy or chocolate at a local store. This is hand-crafted chocolate that we're taking about, which is made from the finest cocoa beans on earth, and that you won't be able to find just anywhere! It's well worth the money, especially if you really love fine chocolate!

Want It? Try It!

You can subscribe to Standard Cocoa and start receiving delicious craft chocolate at home! Just visit the Standard Cocoa website to sign up! Green Mountain Coffee K-Cups (#Review)

Okay coffee lovers, hold onto your mugs and get ready to be introduced to some fanciful flavors! I can't give you ballpark number for how many years I have been drinking coffee. I know I started drinking it in high school, and through college, and when I entered the working world, drinking coffee became neccessary for starting my mornings off on the right foot. Today, being a work at home mom, I cannot function without coffee. It's the very first thing I go for each morning, and I am generally unpleasant before that first sip, but after I have had a few minutes alone with my coffee, I am go to go and ready to face whatever the day ahead might hold.

I received a Keurig Mini Brewer as a gift a couple of months after the birth of my son. I love my Keurig, and use it often. I love that I can use K-Cups, or just brew ground coffee through the special coffee basket, which can be purchased seperately. To save money, after I exhausted my supply of K-Cups, I just used the basket and enjoyed ground coffee. Lately, however, I've really been wanting to go back to using K-Cups for the sake of convenience. They are so easy to use, and mess-free! I connected with Green Mountain Coffee, and was delighted when they offered to send me a couple of flavors of K-Cups to try out!

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters started out as a little cafe in Vermont back in the 1980's. GMCR went public as a company, and became an early investor in Keurig in 1993. Then, in 2006, GMCR acquired the remainder of Keurig, and now this combined company is truly changing the way we brew and drink coffee at home, or at our places of business. Green Mountain Coffee is among a few brands that fall under the GMCR umbrella.

My Green Mountain Coffee K-Cups are here, with a catalog, too!

I had a hard time deciding which coffee flavors I might like to try from Green Mountain Coffee. There were so many flavors to choose from, and they all sounded incredible! I narrowed my selections down to a few flavors and then waited to see what I would be sent. I was thrilled when I received two large boxes of K-Cups, one box for each flavor, and each box containing 24 individual Green Mountain Coffee K-Cups.

My pantry shelves couldn't wait for me to restock them with these new K-Cups!

I received Southern Pecan and Mocha Nut Fudge coffee flavors... two delicious sounding flavors, indeed! These arrived on a chilly, rainy day, so I didn't waste any time in choosing a box to rip open and get a K-Cup into my Keurig! I decided to try the Southern Pecan flavor first, and kew I wouldn't be disappointed. I love pecan flavored anything! This light roast offers the same buttery pecan flavor of our favorite southern prailines! My first attempt with this flavor in the Keurig, however, was a miss. The coffee smelled delicious, but 8 oz of water was way too much water for this, making it watery and faint in flavor. So, I rebrewed with 6 oz of water instead, and finally got it right. I added the slightest bit of milk, and a tiny bit of sugar. The coffee isn't sweetened by Green Mountain Coffee, but it was surprisingly, naturally sweet. Once I adjusted the water level, and added in my milk, I had a yummy cup of coffee that I couldn't wait to share with my parents, who are also both big coffee drinkers.

**This flavor received a 4-Star Rating on the GMCR website**

Mocha Nut Fudge Coffee with my breakfast...

Next, I went for the Mocha Nut Fudge Coffee the following morning. I love mocha. It's probably my most-purchased coffee flavor at coffee shops, so I was excited to have a mocha blend to brew at home! Like the Southern Pecan flavor, this one is also a light roast. I knew that with it being a light roast, I would probably need to keep the water at 6 oz for the brewer, so I rolled with it, and it worked really well. My kitchen smelled like a coffee house as my Mocha Nut Fudge Coffee came through the spout of my Keurig. I added a splash of milk, and again, a tiny bit of sugar, and sipped my little heart out. I loved the chocolate flavor, mixd with notes of caramel, nuts and fudge! This is probably my all time favorite coffee that I have tried with my Keurig. My dad is also a big fan of this flavor. He has to watch his caffeine intake, and my mom has to be careful with coffees that are too bold or dark, because they give her indigestion. This light roast is great to have on hand for when my parents are at my house!

**This flavor received a 4-Star Rating on the GMCR website**

I can't wait to try more flavors from Green Mountain Coffee!
These sound especially good to me...

Dark Magic K-Cup

Half-Caff (to have on hand for my dad)

Wild Mountain Blueberry K-Cups

I am going to make sure that my pantry shelves are stocked with Green Mountain Coffee K-Cups from now on. K-Cups are perfect for a quick cup of coffee, to offer a variety of coffee flavors to guests, etc. One of the neat things about visiting the Green Mountain Coffee website, is that you get to read about the story of the coffee beans, including where they're grown and harvested. You can also learn more about GMCR's efforts to protect the environment, how they're building demand for sustainable products, how they support local communities, and more!

Want It? Buy It!

If you're ready to try some incredible flavors of coffee- be they in your home brewer, a traditional coffee maker, or if you'd like to buy whole beans and ground them yourself, check out all of the flavors that Green Mountain Coffee offers through their website. Of course, you can find all of the GMCR family of brands there, as well. You can purchase your favorite flavors directly through their website. Don't forget to browse their gift selection, too! Mother's Day and Father's Day are great occasions for showing your love and appreciation with coffee gifts!

Green Mountain Coffee is social and would love to connect with you...

Special thanks to Green Mountain Coffee for allowing me to try these delicious flavors of K-Cups and share about them with the MBP community! Can't wait to try more!

See's Candy Review

I love candy! I love candy so much that, I did a little dance when I found out that I was getting the chance to review See's Candy! Yummy, Yummy! I'm starting to drool and go into a chocolate coma just thinking about See's scrumptious candies. And, with Easter only a few days away, what a great time to introduce you all to See's Candies..

With over 100 varieties of candy and chocolate, See's Candies has something for everyone in your family. Almost a 100 year old company, See's is a fantastic blend of old traditions and new flavors. I had the pleasure of recently going to a See's Candies store and it truly is a sight to be seen. It's like walking into a time capsule. The crisp white uniforms of the store attendants pop against the shiny glass candy counters and invite you in with the smell of delicious chocolate and candy.
See's Candies
The store is perfection and everyone who works there, knows their candy! I asked several chocolate related questions and was pleasantly surprised when the gal knew every answer. Nothing tripped her up. I let her know I was doing a review of the candy and wanted to get a feel for the store and how See's operates. She gave me a tour of the store, showed me all of the fresh candy they had and offered me options that I could purchase that would be perfect for Easter.

See's Candies 1lb Chocolate and Variety Box

If you haven't had the chance to try See's Candies, let me just say, you are missing out. See's, prides themselves on old fashioned, high quality candy. They sent me their 1lb chocolate and variety box and their Easter traditions box. When the chocolate arrived on my doorstep, I seriously would not let anyone else open the box. Ripping into the box with child-like fury, I was immediately overcome by the delicious scent of chocolate wafting out of the box. The 1lb chocolate and variety box was beautifully wrapped in a yellow, Easter themed paper. I didn't want to unwrap it! But temptation took over!

Cute Easter Wrapping Paper
My Mother in Law was in town visiting for her birthday, so I decided to let her have the first piece of candy and get her reaction. She chose a white chocolate, coconut piece and was is heaven as she savoured her piece of candy. She very gingerly reached for the box and snatched another piece out of each box.I was happy she enjoyed it enough to sneak the candy! I caught her a few times throughout the week sneaking more candy! I was next I tried the divinity puff and I took a nut cluster from the Easter Traditions box, both were to die for and didn't want the candy to end.

YUM! Smell-O-Vision, why have you not been invented yet?

The chocolate and variety is a mix of nut clusters, divinity puffs, cashew brittle, toffee-ettes, kona mocha, molasses chips, chews and white chocolate pieces, valued at $17.50 for a 1lb box, and $35.00 for a 2lb box. The Easter Traditions box consisted of Lemon and raspberry springtime truffles and a milk and dark chocolate variety, valued at $12.95 for an 8.7 oz box. I loved the springtime truffles, they were probably my favorite out of everything, but I there wasn't a piece that I didn't like!
The yellow ones are the Springtime Truffles!
If you're not into chocolate, don't worry, See's Candies offers more than chocolate. Sour bunnies, lollypops, nuts, peppermint twists, brittles and toffees, oh and for our kosher friends out there, See's has a great selection of kosher goodies for you all, too and sugar free for our diabetic friends!  See's Candies, is such a wonderful, traditional candy company that takes time to make a quality, homemade, product that we can all enjoy now and pass on to future generations.
Thank you, See's Candies for allowing me to review your amazing chocolate. I may be 10lbs heavier from eating nearly 2 boxes of candy on my own, but I am 10lbs happier, and that's what counts!
Want It? Buy It!
I know you all are salivating by now, and are thinking how can I get some of that candy for myself? Well, See's Candies would love for you all to take a look at their website and order some candy for you and your family. Why not head over to their facebook page and like them while you're at it so you can stay up to date on all of their offers.

Easter Lion Craft

We've really been learning a lot about Jesus and His love this week, as we've been journeying to the cross, walking with Jesus. On Thursday, we had a little lesson about God, and how He is the Lion and the Lamb. I've been teacing Balian the song, 'Like a Lion,' which our worship team will lead on Sunday morning at church. Balian loves the song so much, and is very enthusiastic about it.

Balian asked to make another Easter themed craft, and I found a cute idea for a chick in an Easter egg on Pinterest. Oh, Pinterest- I could spend hours browsing crafts, decor and recipes! So, I varried the idea a bit to go along with our little lesson, and incorporate B's favorite new song.

To make the lion face, I cut a large circle out of orange cardstock (use construction paper, or even plain white paper, and have the kids color it orange or you could use brown- this is what we had on hand), and then made thin cuts around the circle to create the mane. I drew the face with black and brown markers, and let Balian add extra color to the mane with brown and yellow washable markers.

Next, I took two paper plates to make the Easter egg. I guess you could just use one, but using two for reinforcement made it much easier. I cut one of the plates in half, and then cut zig-zags in the flat top of each half. Next, I gave the plate halves to Balian to color and decorate. Once he was finished, we glued the round lion face to the top half of the whole paper plate. We then glued the bottom half egg over the bottom half of the whole plate. Next, I punctured a hole through the top left corner of the bottom egg, and whole plate backing, and also added a hole to the bottom left corner of the top half of the egg. I used a piece of ribbon to tie them together, so the top half of the egg opens and closes. A craft brad would have worked better, but we didn't have any, so I improvised.

Here's the back of the egg- though blurry, Balian wanted you to see it!

We added a little Easter message to the top half of the egg, and ended up with a really cute project! Of course, you could do this with yellow paper, and just as easily make a chick, instead of a lion.

*Side note- these paper plates were oval (left from a Bojangles picnic, and they were hanging around in my pantry). If you use a round plate, your project will look a bit different.

We'd love to see your Easter crafts! Feel free to share your photos on the MBP facebook page!

Have a blessed Easter weekend!

YouCopia CoffeeStack (Review & Giveaway)

One of my favorite 'me' items in my kitchen, is my Keurig brewer. Since I'm the only coffee drinker in my house, I have a mini brewer, and that works for me. I have a cute little 'beverage bar' in my kitchen, where I keep the Keurig, K-Cups, exta mugs, coffee and tea accessories, etc. I love my beverage bar, but it doesn't offer a lot of storage space, and unfortunately, K-Cups have to be stored in something! For a long time, I've been keeping them K-Cups in their coxes, in my pantry, or in glass canisters on my kitchen hutch, but they're never near the Keurig when I need them, and that's just sort of a pain.

A few weeks ago, I started to look for a K-Cup holder for my kitchen. Everything I came across looked bulky, or wasn't a sleek enough design for me. Eventually, I found YouCopia, a company that believes that our homes should work so that we can play when we're at home. Finally! YouCopia creates 'AH-HA!' products for the home, which are sleek in design, fully functional, can be easily stored and concealed, or left out in the open. The company was founded by father-daughter duo Mark and Lauren Greenwood in 2006. Mark has 30+ years experience as an inventor in various industries, and sought to change the trational 'spice rack.' Thus, their very first product, the Spice Stack, was born, and the team looked ahead to the future of great kitchen products!

I was given a choice of which YouCopia product I most wanted to try out in my kitchen, and though the Spice Stack sounded so appealing, I had a need to K-Cup storage solutions, so I requested the popular CoffeeStack.

Yay! My CoffeeStack from YouTopia has arrived!

The CoffeeStack is ingenious! I know that there are a lot of different K-Cup and coffee pod storage options, but truthfully, I haven't liked any of them that I've seen elsewhere. I have small storage spaces, and really need to try to take advantage of vertical space in my home. A round storage carousel would take up too much space, and would be oh, so tempting for my toddler to play with. K-Cups are too expensive to be wasted, so secure storage is important!

Can't wait to organize and store my K-Cups!

The CoffeeStack is specifically desiged to hold and organize 40 K-Cups! Wow- that's a lot of coffee! The CoffeeStack is less than six inches wide, so it's a great size to store in your cabinet! It features four holder drawers, which each have ten holes for holding the K-Cups. The drawers pull out, and fold down, so you can actually see your K-Cups, and select the flavor you want with great ease!

I loaded my CoffeeStack with two boxes of brand new K-Cups, and was surprised by how quickly I was able to just pop those right into their holes, lift the holder up, and slide it into the CoffeeStack for storage!

Here are my K-Cups, all settled in their spots, drawer down for selection.

Here, I'm gently lifting the drawer up...

...and now I'm sliding the drawer in, and my K-Cups are all ready to be stored until I need one!

I actually really like the way that my CoffeeStack looks sitting out, right there on top of my beverage bar for all to see! I enjoy having my K-Cups accessible for my guests. This way, if they'd like a cup of coffee, I can direct them to the CoffeeStack, and they can just select whichever flavor they'd like, and it's super easy! Plus, I sort of like showing off really neat products, and this one is definitely unique!

Here's what the CoffeeStack looks like on my beverage bar. Pretty nice, huh?

The sleek black and silver coloring of the CoffeeStack, compliments the black and silver appliances we have in our kitchen, and looks nice with our green accents. One of the best things about being able to leave the CoffeeStack out, is that even though my toddler can reach it, he doesn't quite understand that the drawers have to be pulled out (and I'm not going to show him how it works, either!), so (for now, at least) I know my K-Cups are safe from harm!

Features of the YouCopia CoffeStack

Organizes 40 K-Cups®*
Fits standard cabinets, measures 5.3 W x 9.3 H x 10.9 L inches
Black and silver colors complement any kitchen decor
Non-skid feet hold unit securely in place
No assembly required, units are stackable

YouCopia also has a similar product for coffee pods and cafe' cups! Plus, they offer a SpiceStack (in different sizes), a MedicineStack and a BakeStack! Take a look...

MiniStack for Medicines

BakeStack (I think this is so cool!)

I love to be organized, and having products like these help me to feel much less stressed, and they make it easy for my husband to put things back where he found them. I've got to hand it to Mark and Lauren- they really nailed it with these products! Aside from being a great addition to any home, these would also make really neat gifts for newlyweds, new parents, new homeowners, college students, etc. If there's a coffee lover in your family with a brewing system, get them a CoffeeStack (or a similar stack for pods, etc)- they'll thank you for it!

Living in YouCopia is...

Opening the cabinet with no surprises.
Your husband finding the oregano without your help.
Showing off a perfectly alphabetized spice collection.
Viewing your coffee, not rummaging through it.
Reaching the back of your cabinet without a stool.

I Dreamed a Dream of...
...last week, I dreamed that I was a country music star, but I think that's just because I caught two minutes of Nashville before heading to bed.

What I'm Lovin' this Week...
Teaching my son about the Easter story through reading, activities and Veggie Tales, of course. Balian will go to his first Easter party with his little pals from church this week, and then we'll go take a ride on the Easter Bunny Express this Saturday, and he'll attend his first Easter Egg Hunt. Lot's of firsts.

I am so Done With...
The wind! I hope the wind calms down, the temps warm up, and that everyone in my house stays well! No more cold weather and no more colds!

Silliest Thing this Week...
Balian running into the bathroom while his daddy was in the shower, opening the door and whispering, 'My God's not dead, he's surely alive... like a lion... ROAR!'

My MBP Signature

Thanks for catching up with me this week! I'd love to hear how you've been doing this week, too!
