Little Passports November Review

Our global adventure with Little Passports has reached the end of our first year. We have had a great time learning and exploring with Sam and Sofia. The kids have learned so much and really have grown and blossomed so much from our first Little Passports trip to Brazil. I will hopefully be continuing our relationship with Little Passports in the coming months and will be sure to share them with all of our readers.

For now, please read a little more about Little Passports and see how you could fit them in to your life. It truly is a really cool and exciting experience for both parents and kids.
Little Passports offers an amazing monthly opportunity and experience by mailing travel packages (World or US Editions) right to your mailbox. These packages are filled with specific items to encourage their explorations. It is really easy to sign up (they have different options for whatever your needs might be), each month your child will receive a package filled with amazing goodies from a new country or state, explore and have fun with your child. Check out some great clips and reviews of Little Passports here.

During month one with Little Passports, you will receive an introduction to Sam and Sofia, a suitcase filled with a world wall map, a travel passport, stickers, an activity sheet, and access to online games and activities with a boarding pass (Our introduction to Sam and Sofia during month one was very informative, check it out here). Sam and Sofia are the two traveling characters within Little Passports and each month they travel to a new destination and send us fun things from their discoveries. We love finding where Sam and Sofia have been and what they have found. You can read our month two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, and eleven as well to see where we have been.

Here are some photos from our very first experiences with Little Passports:

Now on to our last adventure for now!

Our Little Passports package is here!

Looks like we are heading to Argentina.
Somewhere warm and sunny in January looks much nicer than this...
B took on the first findings to see what Sam and Sofia learned about on their trip.

We came across our letter from Sam and Sofia first. They always write about what cool things they got to see and do on their trip.
Can you believe that Argentina is at the bottom of the world in South America? We thought that was super crazy. We also learned that Argentineans speak Spanish, both B and S really enjoyed this fact and proceeded to say "Hola Amigos" for quite some time. Neither one was very impressed that steak is famous in Argentina, maybe someday they will enjoy its deliciousness. The best part of the letter was about Sam and Sofia's time in Patagonia. The kids were loving that even though we have a foot of snow outside, people in Argentina are enjoying their summer. Sam and Sofia talked about many other neat things they got to experience and see as well.

In our photo from Sam and Sofia, they are dressed in some very pretty clothing. It almost looks like Sofia is going to start doing the Tango, a dance they learned during their trip.
Next, B found the first sticker set that comes in the envelope. On this set it has both a country flag and a map pin.
B was happy to be able to place his flag sticker inside his passport and then spent quite a bit of time looking through the entire thing and talking about all his countries.
We usually wait until closer to the end to do the map, but the kids couldn't wait to show Daddy how it worked. He is usually at work when we do the pinning, so he only sees it at the end.

Daddy was really impressed with how quickly they found Argentina. They both knew it was near the bottom of the world, so they didn't have to debate too long.

B also found the suitcase sticker, but as decided months ago, S will get to place the suitcase sticker.
Ta-Da, it looks amazing now! S has taken the time to really think out her placements of each sticker. I think she did a wonderful job!
S and all her fanciness got in the envelope next. She loves closing her eyes and pulling things out. She enjoys being "surprised".
The first thing S found was the activity page. Each month the activity page will have different games, recipes, and fun trivia type things for the kids to do. We have really enjoyed checking out what each page has. The front page of Argentina had "packing list" for the four main regions of Argentina. We had to decide what supplies (umbrella, boots, hat, skis, etc) we would need for each region.
The back side of the sheet had a fun activity about steak. B really liked this activity because it involved math, which is something he is really great at. His understanding of numbers amazes me sometimes. Sam and Sofia, along with their friends ate a ton of steak!
The other activity, which caught S's eye for the pure fact a horse was on the page, was about the Argentinian sport of Pato. It was an explanation of the game and how it is played, sort of like a combination of polo and basketball. Once we read about the game, S got to color the horse and also Sam.

S also found the boarding pass which allows us special access to the Boarding Zone. The Boarding Zone requires a special code and once you have entered it, will open up a handful of online games specific to the country. We have grown to really like the map game and this month was no different. You get to click around the country on different places to learn about fun facts or history, there is also some funky music that plays in the background. Another game was a trivia game with fifteen questions. These questions could be answered by all of the things we had heard from Sam and Sofia and played in the other Argentina games. The last game was concentration or memory. Both B and S could easily play this together and got them all very quickly.
Once you have visited the Boarding Zone, you can access all the previous countries you have entered too. This is nice to be able to play all of our favorites over and over.

The most favorite part of all our monthly travels involves the special surprise that Sam and Sofia send. Sometimes it is a trinket, other times it is an activity, but we always enjoy it. This month, we learned from Sam and Sofia, that they visited Neuquén, where people have found some of the world's oldest and largest dinosaur bones. To help us uncover some of our some fossils of our own, they sent us a dinosaur dig kit.
The kids could not wait to get digging!

We set up a station at our craft table and decided what we would do.
We knew we would get one of three different fossils and guessed which one it would be.

B quickly got to work.

S had a turn too and took it very seriously.

Look what we found!
All of our hard work paid off and we found this awesome fossil.

Thank you again to Sara and Little Passports and to all of our readers who have checked out them out. We will keep all of you updated on what is to come soon!

  1. I am really hoping my comment went through as I don't really remember what I wrote.
But, just in case, I really enjoyed this review. This sounds like something my 4 children would love. I have heard about Little Passports before, but never really looked into it. Seems like they send some amazing stuff to help facilitate learning. Thanks for sharing.
