That Summertime Vibe: Let's Go to the Movies!

Summertime is such a great time of year for seeing new movies on the big screen. As a child, I can remember seeing a handful of movies at the movie theatre with my parents. In particular, I remember seeing a theatrical re-release of Snow White, The Land Before Time, The Little Mermaid (my favorite!), Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Toy Story. I know that I saw many other films at the movies, but these are the ones I remember the most.

This summer, I've had the pleasure of taking not one, but both of my kiddos to the movies a couple of times. B (8 years old) is a pro when it comes to going to the movies. His very first movie (at the movie theatre) was Disney PLANES. We wound up having to leave half way through because he became scared and was starting to make a commotion. We waited a long time before taking him back to the theatre.

I was excited to take both kids to the movies for the first time this summer, though. Bean was thrilled to be able to go to the movies like a big girl, and her excitement just warmed my heart so! She was so happy to pick out her own snack and sit in a big chair next to her brother.

We saw The Secret Life of Pets 2, and we've also seen Toy Story 4 (with both kids). Bean did incredibly well sitting through both movies with no problem. I also took B to see Detective Pikachu with Lindsey Lou's boys. They all had Pokemon shirts on, and loved the movie!

There are so many more movies that we want to see this summer. We have yet to see ALADDIN (I know, I know- we wanted to see it while we were at the beach, but it was no longer playing). SPIDERMAN Far From Home is next on our list, and coming up, we'll be ready to see the live action version of The Lion King!

At home, we've also enjoyed DUMBO and CINDERELLA! Be sure to check out my posts with fun movie night at home ideas for these two, plus free activities, recipes, and printables!

With so many great movies coming out before we head back to school, it'll be a challenge to see them all, but I'm confident that we can do it!

Let's chat summer movies! Which movies have you seen or are you looking forward to seeing on the big screen this summer?

  1. I saw Toy Story 4 with my grandchildren. It was great! I'm hoping to go see Spider-Man: Far From Home.
