Are You Living with Worry & Regret?

Do you ever feel like you are missing it? Like, life is speeding by you at a million miles an hour and you are missing it? Or maybe you are at a place that is very quiet and still and it seems like nothing is ever going to change and you feel like you are missing out on something better, more exciting...

Do you feel like if you lost just a few more pounds you'd feel better? Or if you just made a little more money, that would fix everything? Do you worry about getting sick? Like, really sick? Or maybe you worry about your kids getting sick... Do you feel like you don't do enough to enrich your children? Do you feel like they could eat better, learn more, be happier?

Do you ever feel like you are failing...at everything?

I just wanted to take a moment to say, me too.

I know that every life, every person, has times of worry and regret. Maybe you aren't in that season right now - wonderful! Run with that confidence and joy and peace- and be a blessing to someone!

But if you are in a shadier place, where you aren't sure where you are heading or even sure of where you've been... remember this. Remember that everyone finds themselves here at some point. Remember that sometimes, you are weak and you can't be strong. It's ok to just be honest with yourself. You don't have to explain it to anyone, or even really understand it yourself.

Remember that God knew all the days of your life before one of them came to be. Remember that though trouble lasts for the night, joy comes in the morning. Remember that you can bring every part of you to God and know that he loves you in your weakness and at your absolute worst as well as when you are strong and feel like you are on the right track. You may not even love yourself at your worst. But you can take your broken life, your broken heart, your broken mind, your broken body and give it to the Father. And he gladly takes it and heals it - in his perfect time and in his perfect way.

Regret comes when we want to control our past circumstances. Worry comes when we want to control our future circumstances. Which is funny, really, because we can't possibly control the past or the future and can't see the actual "big picture" of our life. That's called being omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent - or all-knowing, ever-present & all-powerful.
There is only One who is that.

In light of this information, we have to rest. We have to wait. We have to do our best with what we have. And leave the rest in God's hands.

Sometimes our best isn't that great...and that's ok.
When you're weak it stands to reason that you can't be strong. But when you are weak, He is strong.

  1. Such a timely read for me this morning. When I put my daughter to bed last night, she asked me to sing 'He is strong,' which is 'Jesus Loves Me.' When I feel weak, I hear the voices of my sweet children singing 'He is strong.' It's such a beautiful reminder that we're not in this life alone.
