Our 5 Favorite (Kid Friendly) Friday the 13th Movies

It's Friday the 13th. I remember hearing about how "unlucky" Friday the 13th was when I was a youngster, but for me it was more a fun time to watch spooky movies, including some I probably shouldn't have watched (like any of the Friday the 13th movies).
Parents, like mine, were a lot more chill in the 80s. I am not so chill, which is why the girls are mostly unaware of scary movies. To them, Coraline is the creepiest movie ever!
I can hardly wait until they are old enough for us to watch an actual horror movie together.  Until then, we'll stick with the more tame movies that they enjoy, including the 5 (some spooky, some not) that have made our list for today!

The Watcher in the Woods (2017)

1. The Watcher in the Woods- There are 2 versions of this movie, the most recent was released in 2017. I was D's age when I watched the original, so when the remake came out last year  I was excited to watch it with her. Definitely creepy, a little too much for someone R's age, but so good.
A few weeks after watching the remake, we rented the original from the library to see what differences we could spot.
This movie made our list because it's a nice "starter" scary movie and a lot of fun to watch.

Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, and Odeya Rush in Goosebumps (2015)

2. Goosebumps- I think we all loved reading these books when we were kids. The movie is great, spooky, but not too overwhelming. R was a little scared watching this for the first time, but overall she really enjoyed the movie. D really likes this movie.
This movie made our list because it's "scary in a fun way".

Fred Savage and Howie Mandel in Little Monsters (1989)

3. Little Monsters- I love this movie so much. Both D and R got a little freaked out when they first watched this, but overall they enjoy it. This movie isn't one we watch too often, some of the jokes are a little crude and while they usually go over R's head, D is starting to pay more attention and catches a few of them.
This movie made our list because it's fun and brings back memories for Mom and Dad!

Mara Wilson in Matilda (1996)

4. Matilda- Another movie that I absolutely love. It's not really spooky/scary, but there are parts (basically any scene with Ms.Trunchbull) that can be overwhelming for younger kids.
This movie made our list because the "unluckiness" of the main character ties into the theme of today.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in Freaky Friday (2003)

5. Freaky Friday (2003)- This is another movie that has more than one version, but the Jamie Lee Curtis/Lindsay Lohan one happens to be the only one we've seen. This movie is also not scary or spooky, but it is a lot of fun. This movie made our list because....well, Friday the 13th can be a FREAKY FRIDAY for some!

Well, there's our short little list. Do you have any movies you'd add to the list? Leave your recommendation in the comments and maybe we'll get to watch them in the future!
Enjoy your day!
