Last weekend, we celebrated a major milestone... Baby S' first birthday! This first birthday party was such a special celebration, and of course, it was a huge deal for me. Once I chose the theme for the party, which was purple butterflies, I knew that I wanted some very specific accents for the party decor. I am not super crafty, so I love to look for themed decor and accents from people who make gorgeous handmade products. I found some adorably glitzy party accessories at Tickled Glitzy Boutique.

We got to talking about Baby S' party and theme, and she offered to send us the cake topper and some coordinating items for the party. I was so excited, and couldn't wait to see all of the coordinating party accessories in person. I knew that they would add that extra special touch to our party.

This is the item that first drew me to Tickled Glitzy. I fell in love with the design, and knew that it would be the perfect topper for Baby S' smash cake. I didn't want to use a candle after witnessing a mishap at our friends' baby girl's first birthday party. The cake topper was just so precious! Baby S didn't know what she wanted to do when the cake was presented to her... touch the cake, or play with the cake topper.

The little banner was made with two paper straws, paper squares, ribbons, etc. Everyone at the party loved the little topper. A good friend who was at the party has a sweet baby girl who will turn one in May, and loved the cake topper. I definitely shared where it came from, because Tickled Glitzy has so many adorable themed cake toppers, banners, and party accessories!

I'm often resigned to not having straws for my events and parties, because I wonder if anyone will really use them? This party had lots of little people in attendance, though, and it turned out to be a wonderful thing to have the straws for the babies and toddlers. The paper straws features different shades of purple swirled stripes, and silver and gold butterflies to fit our party theme. They were so cute! And if you're wondering if paper straws work in liquid, the answer is yes- they do. They hold up for quite a while (several hours) once placed into a liquid.

No party decor is complete without confetti!
I stopped using confetti at paties a few years ago, because it always made such a mess. This confetti, however, was large enough for us to pick up without it getting all over the floor. We received silver, gold, white, and several shades of purple butterfly confetti. This is paper confetti, and each color was packaged in a small vellum envellope, sealed with an actual piece of the confetti, so I knew which envelope was which. There was a lot of confetti, and a little bit of it went a long way. I plan on using the extra for spring time decorations at home.

My mother-in-law made Sabine's cute butterfly cake, but I also asked her to make a few cupcakes, knowing they might be easier for litle hands to grab. The cupcake toppers turned out beautifully! They featured different shades of purple and white '1' cut-outs, with silver and gold butterflies to match our theme. Each was stuck to a toothpick, which made for easy insertion into each cupcake.

I love the way the dessert table turned out! The cupcakes looked so pretty with the cupcake toppers in the middle, and our guests really loved them. They thought the table was beautiful, and that the cupcakes were delicious!
