National Geographic Kids Guide to Photography #Review and #Giveaway

I am a self-professed addict when it comes to taking pictures. I especially enjoy taking pictures of my family and Drew is quickly becoming quite the shutterbug herself. I'm not sure how interested she is in becoming the next Annie Leibovitz, but I would like to encourage her to learn more about the art of photography. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when we had the chance to review the new book National Geographic Kids Guide to Photography: Tips & Tricks on How to Be a Great Photographer From the Pros & Your Pals at My Shot by Nancy Honovich and National Geographic Photographer Annie Griffiths.

We love National Geographic Kids! Back in March, we were able to review National Geographic Kids 1,000 Facts About the Bible, which we are still enjoying, and I have a feeling that the Guide to Photography book is going to be enjoyed for quite some time as well. National Geographic Kids has made an art out of presenting information to children in a way that both educates and entertains.

Drew, who loves books on nearly every subject, was especially fond of this book.It held her interest by including some fun activities for her to try to help her apply what she had just read about.  I loved watching her soak up information on topics like equipment basics and film cameras (we've been using digital since before she was even born, and that doesn't get used as much as the camera on our phones)! I learned some things myself, like how to prevent blurry pictures (which will come in handy when I take pictures of the girls) and how to take the best pictures of night time scenes (starry skies, campfires, etc).

Sucked Right In.

We both enjoyed the "Annie's Assignments" sections throughout the book. Drew really liked taking shots of her subjects in doorways and waiting to capture wildlife in "her own backyard" (anywhere outdoors).
