Personalized Summer Style by Not Ur Momma's Monogram #Review + #Giveaway

This summer, I am trying to take it easy, and dress a bit more comfortably. It's not that I've dressed uncomfortably in the past, but I've never really been a t-shirt kind of gal. I like the things that I wear to reflect my personality, and t-shirts have sort of just always seemed sort of boring to me... that is until I connected with Lensie Stanley, owner of one of the cutest Etsy shops around, who just so happens to know a thing or two about cute t-shirts.

Lensie loves to take a plain t-shirt, and create something special. Lensie is the proud owner of Not Ur Momma's Monogram, where whimsical monogrammed items are the specialty! Monogrammed apparel and accessories seem to be all the rage these days, and Lensie is so wonderful at adding her own spin to the traditional monogrammed shirt. When Lensie and I chatted about the possibility of working together, I was so excited, because I knew that her items were unlike many of the others that I had seen elsewhere. Lensie was sweet to let me pick out a couple of favorite designs from her shop, which she personalized with a monogram, just for me!

When the items from Not Ur Momma's Monogram arrived, I was a bit surprised that they arrived to quickly! I am used to a monogrammed item order taking a week or longer to be made and shipped, but Lensie had my items to me within a matter to mere days! Now that's fast turnaround!

Here's how my items arrived- wrapped in tissue paper, and tied with a pretty ribbon!

I couldn't wait to open up the first little package!

As I pulled back the tissue paper, my items were revealed, and I noticed a note from Lensie!

My note from Lensie thanked me for featuring her business, and also contained important wash/dry instructions! I always appreciate a note from the folks I am working with- it shows how much they care about taking good care of their customers! Thank you, Lensie!

I was so, so excited to finally see those special items that Lensie created for me. I had a lot of fun browsing the Not Ur Momma's Monogram Etsy Shop, looking around at all of the fun designs that Lensie had created. I had lots of choices, and ultimately decided to go with a couple of monogrammed t-shirts, because I didn't have any! I loved the way that Lensie could take a plain t-shirt, and turn it into something so cute and unique!

These are the two designs I chose for my t-shirts- Flip Flops, and my State- North Carolina.

I fell in love with these two designs when I saw them listed in Lensie's shop, but once my personal monogram had been added to each of them, and I saw them in person, I loved them even more! As if these two shirts weren't enough to make me feel super special, Lensie included a surprise for me!

A second wrapped package was included with the items Lensie sent to me... surprise!

Lensie gave a little hint as to what might be inside of the package, telling me that it was a 'staple' in any monogram wardrobe. Of course, I had not idea what it might be, but was very excited to open it up, and find out!

Check out this beautiful pocket tee that Lensie surprised me with!

I loved the pocket tee design that Lensie created and sent to surprise me! I was not expecting this added little bonus, but thought it was so sweet of Lensie to think of me, and to go ahead and send such a sweet surprise item! She truly went above and beyond! Plus, pocket tees are super duper hot right now... I am seeing them everywhere, and I am super excited to have one!

Here are all of the beautiful, whimsical, and fun designs on the shirts from Not Ur Momma's Monogram!

I was having so much fun looking over these three monogrammed t-shirts, but knew that the real fun would be in wearing them, and showing them off! I was slated to help with Vacation Bible School at my church all last week (every morning 9 am - noon), and would be teaching 125 children 10 VBS songs and dance moves. So yeah, I needed to be comfortable, if I was going to be singing and dancing around with kids for 3 hours a day.

I decided to kick off the week with the adorable Monogrammed Flip Flop T-Shirt. I chose this design, because I really love the flip flops... they are so southern, and around these parts, we pretty much live in flip flops, especially during the summer months.

The chevron pattern in the applique is so adorable! The flip flops contain a little sparkle, and my monogram appears in the middle.

Here I am, relaxing in my flip flop t-shirt after a bust morning at VBS! Cute, right!?

When I wore the flip flop t-shirt to VBS, I received so many comments and compliments on my t-shirt. All of the other moms wanted to know where my shirt came from, and I gladly let them know about Lensie, and Not Ur Momma's Monogram! They all agreed that the flip flop design was out of this world adorable! I kept the t-shirt on later that afternoon, and wore it to a team planning meeting (again, at my church... I live there!), and a new group of women were going crazy over the shirt! They were right to love it so much, as it is super cute!

The following day, I wore my black t-shirt with the NC design on it.

The adorable NC t-shirt kept me comfy all day long!

When I wore the monogrammed state t-shirt, everyone loved it! It's so neat to be able to show off your state pride. I love the blue chevron, which is pretty close to good 'ol Carolina blue, and the pink was the perfect accent over the NC state shape. Many of the moms I volunteered with last week were excited and surprised to see yet another adorable monogrammed t-shirt! I loved being able to wear these shirts during our week of VBS, because they were cute, and they kept me so comfortable. They fit well, but weren't tight or binding. I was able to move freely, the way I needed to as I sang and danced with the kiddos.

And last, but not least, I couldn't wait to wear my pocket tee shirt!

I love the pretty details of this fun, monogrammed pocket tee!

One of the things I love most about Lensie's t-shirts, available through Not Ur Momma's Monogram, is that they take cute, comfy, and casual to another level. When I wore these t-shirts, yes, I felt casual, but I also felt cute. I knew that I had on t-shirts that were going to catch someone else's eye, and I was right about that. If I had just worn plain old t-shirts, sure, I would have been just as comfortable, but no one would have noticed or cared. Everyone noticed these tees, and even asked about them. I love showing off my initials- an 'O' is a bit uncommon, so I absolutely love to own it, and proudly put it on display.

Lensie makes it so easy for her customers to order a truly customized product. The customer may select the t-shirt color- black, white, grey, and then select the fabric/color for the applique design, as well as select the thread color for the monogram. Talk about personalized! What's even better, are the prices. A lot of businesses that offer monogramming sort of take advantage of the fact that's it's so trendy, and charge out the wazoo, taking two weeks or longer to get an item to a customer. Lensie takes pride in offering unique designs, at affordable prices, and offering a fast turnaround! What could be better?

I'd love to add even more monogrammed items from Not Ur Momma's Monogram to my personal monogrammed wardrobe. Check out some of these other adorable designs I'm loving...

I can't thank Lensie enough for sending me these three adorable monogrammed t-shirts! I love all three of them, and don't think I could pick a favorite. I know that these will all be coming with me on our family vacation this summer, and I'll be getting lots of wear out of them this season, and beyond!

A shirt like this would look so good on you, wouldn't you agree?

Monday Motivation: Don't Let Stress Claim Your Heart

Happy Monday! I am sort of taking a rest day at home with my little guy, who has a pretty yucky cold. We had such a fun, busy week last week at our church, as we attended Weird Animals Vacation Bible School. I volunteered as the music leader, and taught 125+ children 10 VBS songs, which were totally fun, by the way. When VBS rolls around, I tend to get a little bit stressed out. Teaching music to the kids may not seem like a big deal, but the music is a big part of the entire VBS program, plus, I knew that the children would be singing some of their songs for their parents at the VBS closing program, and then singing their songs in church, as well, that Sunday (which was yesterday).

Our VBS program coming to a close last Friday...

Somewhere, in the middle of the week, I almost let myself get totally lost in the stress of it all. Not only were some of the kiddos being difficult, my kiddo was being difficult, refusing to go with his 3 year old class, which meant that he spend the rest of the week with me in my music class. He did NOT want to share me with those 125 other boys and girls, which made trying to teach music and dance difficult, to say the least. During my stress out moments, I felt a sense of calm just wash over me. When I got back to singing with the kids, I remembered that some of those children may not go to church regularly. Many of them didn't belong to my church, so I had no idea what their worship life was like.

Me, and B at VBS...

With programs like VBS, and our Weekday Church School, and Sunday Schools classes intermixed with Sunday worship, that's where kids are learning about God, and what it means to have Jesus as our Savior and closest friend. As soon as I let go of my personal worries and stresses over the busyness of the program, I started to have a lot of fun with the kids. My heart was so full by the end of the week, that I could barely contain it! The children were so full of love and energy, and it really showed through their singing and enthusiasm. Those kids love God... they want to be like Jesus and share about His amazing love, just like I do. Kids are really amazing. Don't let your stresses claim your heart- turn that stress around by doing something positive. If you have the opportunity to volunteer your time, and work with kids through church, a local mentoring program, or something similar, I would encourage you to do so... you never know how your heart might be changed.

Weekends with the Wigglesworths- Growing Girls and Growing Families

It's Saturday once again MBP readers! We are going to be pretty busy here at Wigglesworth Manor rearranging some furniture, particularly in the girls' bedroom (and hopefully in the living room)! A couple of weekends ago, we were very lucky that my sister and her family were getting rid of an extra dresser as Reese really needed a new one. This past week, we were gifted a twin mattress and box spring from another one of my fabulous sisters, again for Reese. Since she is really not quite ready to be moved to an actual bed just yet, we have to figure out where to store the mattress and box spring. We have decided that it would be a good decision to check out some bunk beds, which excites Drew to no end!

This "Kura" bed from Ikea is on our shortlist!

Tomorrow is going to be a really great day. My youngest sister (yes I have 3 sisters, all younger) is expecting her second child, so we are celebrating with a baby sprinkle. I have a bunch of feelings about my baby sister having her second child, but mostly I am happy and excited for their family.
Since I am still on my Daniel Fast until Monday, I am making some pretty amazing homemade veggie burgers (don't worry I won't eat them on a bun) and possibly a fruit salad to bring along.

That's our weekend in a nutshell. What  are your plans this weekend?

Mrs. Potato Head's Travel Tips & Packing Essentials #traveltips

School's out and if you've been bitten by the travel bug and are looking for some expert travel and packing tips, look no further!  In Pixar’s timeless Toy Story movies, Mrs. Potato Head packs Mr. Potato Head with all his essential travel needs – including his angry eyes and an extra pair of shoes! In honor of Disney Movies Anywhere’s “Pixar Summer Movies To Go,” the tasteful ‘tater reveals her spud-tacular travel tips exclusively for you. The sweet potato also shares her and Mr. Potato Head's essential packing list below.

With Pixar Summer Movies To Go, a different fan favorite film is made available each week throughout the summer with exclusive bonus content like special filmmaker introductions, film trivia and the “Countdown to Pixar’s Ultimate Movie-Making Secrets.”

Mr. Potato Head can be a klutz when it comes to packing, which is why Mrs. Potato Head loves to make a list of packing essentials for their vacation needs. It’s a good idea for the sweet potato to start planning her list weeks before the traveling ‘taters head off on their journey. By planning so far in advance, you are much less likely to miss off any travel necessities!

Who wants to iron an outfit when you reach your destination? Mr. Potato Head doesn't, that’s for sure! Instead of folding your clothes and placing them in your suitcase, try rolling them. Tightly rolled clothes are less likely to get heavy wrinkles from fold creases and they take up less room.

Nobody wants to be weighed down with heavy baggage, especially if you’re a tourist ‘tater who wants to wander around with ease. That’s exactly why Mrs. Potato Head suggests everybody packs lightly. Pack layers of clothing that you can easily put on or take off. And think twice about adding that spare pair of shoes to your luggage. Do you really need them?

Mrs. Potato Head is a stickler for the rules. Get to know them all before you travel, especially if you’re flying! If your journey involves an airplane ride, make sure you pack correctly and don’t place any large liquids (such as a regular-sized bottle of perfume or a can of hairspray) in your carry-on luggage. All liquids brought onto planes must be in 3.4-ounce bottles or smaller. And they must all be placed inside a single, clear, quart-size zip-top bag.

What would Mr. Potato Head do without his trusty bowler hat and his angry eyes? Well, every now and then luggage gets delayed or lost – and that’s exactly why it’s a good idea to pack your travel essentials and valuables in your carry-on bag. Never put them in your checked luggage! Make sure your ID, passport, keys, money, credit cards, jewelry and electronics are safe and secure in your carry-on bag, as well as items like extra contact lenses and a spare pair of undies. Happy traveling!

Mrs. Potato Head says: “I’m packing your extra pair of shoes!”
Don’t be a couch potato on your summer vacation; head outside and explore. When you’re packing your bags, make sure you’ve got comfortable shoes in your luggage. Nobody wants sore tootsies!

“And your angry eyes, just in case!”
Who wants to get angry-eyed in the blazing sunshine? Nobody! That’s why it’s important to pack your sunglasses. If your eyes need some extra help, don’t forget to take your spectacles and contact lenses, too.

“A dime!”
A few dollars will certainly help ease your summer vacation needs. It also helps to have a credit card for any unexpected incidentals, as well as the purchase of the odd souvenir or two. See if you can seek out a bargain!

“Cheese puffs!”
Don’t forget to pack some snacks for the journey. If you’re a picky eater, it might be wise to add a few of your favorite munchies to your suitcase to ensure you’ve got lots of treats to eat while you’re away, too. Mmmm!

“A spare set of lips!”
Mr. Potato Head can swap his lips with a spare set if they become chapped or sore in the sizzling sunshine. Non-spuds can’t do that, which is why it’s a good idea to pack some lip balm for your travels. Pucker up!

“A key!”
It’s always a good idea to keep all your essentials together in one place, including your keys, money, ID and passport. Be a safe spud on your travels; don’t be a loser this summer!

Never forget to apply sunscreen in the scorching summer sun… Or, you’ll end up baked!

We'll definitely be taking Mrs. Potato Head's advice and using some of these great packing and travel tips this summer! Are you headed on a family vacation? Share your best travel tips below!

Happy 1st Birthday Baby C! Custom Chalk Creations {Review & Giveaway}

When Ondria sent this next opportunity to me, it could not have come at a more perfect time. I was in the middle of 1st birthday party planning and favoriting all kinds of adorable ideas for C's Rainbow party on Etsy. Ondria had been in contact with this company in the fall, but was unable to work with them at the time but knew what a perfect match they would be for us, she was ever so right.

Etsy was full of ideas that I wanted to use in our party, but one I knew I had to have was a chalk poster with all kinds of fun information about Baby C. Just as usual with Etsy, there were a million to pick from, all different sizes, designs, and of course pricing. I was almost overwhelmed with all the different shops, so how lucky to have Ondria send over an Etsy shop that was even called Custom Chalk Posters!!

Custom Chalk Posters is an Etsy shop that opened in early 2012. Shop owner Michelle is a self described creator, designer, and lover of all things crafty and unique. After teaching herself photoshop in high school, she has continued to work and learn more and more designing skills. Michelle has a Pinterest addiction which she uses for ideas for her own creations and really enjoys creating for all of her customers. Custom Chalk Posters are just that, customized signs on a digital file, ready to print, that are perfect for birthdays, announcements, and more. Michelle will collect information about your child or whomever and create a one of a kind sign using a custom theme or color. Custom Chalk Posters does have premade designs, but would love to hear your ideas to customize a poster special for you day too, just ask!

When I got all my information from Ondria, I immediately reached out to Custom Chalk Posters to see if they would still be interested in working with us. I totally had my fingers crossed that the answer would be yes and when I heard back from Michelle, I was pretty thrilled to say the least. Michelle and I emailed back and forth with some ideas and it was almost like she had read my mind. She already had a rainbow themed poster put together and asked if it would work---OF COURSE, it was better than anything I could have ever thought of myself. Michelle has amazing talent and is so very kind, what a positive experience I already had to this point. If you browse the Custom Chalk Poster shop, you will see that they have had over 1,600 sales and a 5 star rating from 170 reviews.

Michelle sent me all of the information she would need to complete the file for me. This included the following questions (these can be swapped out for other things as well):
-Custom color scheme/theme for poster:
-Child's Name:
-What they say (words):
-Favorite books (OR shows OR songs - you can pick 2 as long as the lists aren't too long):
-Favorite foods:
-Amount of teeth:
-8-10 things they LOVE:
For the bottom section:
-Nicknames from mommy and daddy and/or any special message for the birthday child!
-*Latest date you need your file by*:

I did drag my feet getting her the information because I wanted to get my husbands opinions in too. This was about a week of time, Michelle was in contact with me to make sure everything was still moving forward, I appreciated this checking in as a poke to get myself in gear. I apologize again to you Michelle! A few days later I sent off my answers and Michelle got to work, within another week I had a file in my inbox, ready to go.

Custom Chalk Posters works with digital files, so while nothing showed up in my physical mailbox, this file showed up in my email inbox.
Michelle sent me the file to double check and it was absolutely perfect. She also sent me all the information I would need to have the file printed and poster mounted for display at C's party.

Michelle let me know that she sent a 17x21, high resolution file, that should be sent to a printer.  She let me know that the actual text in the file was smaller and had added a bit of extra to help the printer with cropping, she said that all printers will be different and to let them know about the adjustments she had made. I was not completely sure how to do that, but Michelle made sure I had all the help I needed. She also recommend where to go for printing and included links to use. This was a really huge help, one I greatly appreciated.

I easily followed the directions she gave me and sent my file off to be printed at Staples. This was a 16x20 photo enlargement and was ready the next day for pickup. Staples printed the file like a poster and it was about $15 with tax. There are other printing options as well.
I picked up a poster size frame at our local Meijer for about $7, making the total around $22. Custom Chalk Posters charges $ for the file, making this project around $. For an amazing quality keepsake, this is such a great price. Some other ones I found on Etsy were upwards of $50-70 total.

Here is the finished product, mounted in the poster frame. I was so excited to get it up and display for our party.

We displayed our poster right in front of the fireplace in our living room, the main party room. C was in front of the sign while she opened presents and was in full view for all of us to see.

I can't tell you how many compliments we got on the customized poster from Custom Chalk Posters. I think everyone who was at the party picked it up and read all about our incredible Baby C. They all were impressed on how much information could be on there and the quality in which it was done. I was highly impressed myself, but I think our party guests were even more-so. My husband really was pleased with the result and was happy that I let him have some of the input too, he felt like he got to be a part of something that C will have for a long time to come. We also took our poster to C's first birthday photo shoot, I don't have a copy of them yet, but will make sure to post them when I do, our photographer loved it and made sure it was a part of many different shots.
