Earlier this month, I shared with you about my tooth extraction and teeth problems. The dentist always tells us to brush & floss daily. Flossing helps remove that stuff that's missed by only brushing: plaque, gums, etc. About 40% of our gums/ teeth isn't touched by our toothbrushes so flossing helps get at that stuff that causes cavities and gum diesease.
I've always struggled with flossing. The spacing between my teeth hasn't always allowed for dental floss to get through. Sometimes, crowns can be damaged with string floss too, especially if there's already damaged areas.
I also have a horrible gag reflex, which makes flossing difficult. So my dentist told me about waterpiks/ water flossers.
These devices have various attachments to get at the root of your teeth problems. With fasteners for plaque build up, sensitive gums, and the like; water flossers use pressure and water to get at the grimy stuff hidden away in our teeth.
If you are looking for ways to smile brighter this winter season and keep up with your dental care, then check out MySmile. Winter dental care can be difficult as the cold weather affects our sinuses, teeth & gum sensitivity, and the dry air even causes dry mouth! Water irrigators are the perfect way to our dental care routines on-point by enabling rinsing bacteria away quickly. My favorite thing about water irrigators is that there's little chance of messing up another crown, like I did last summer with floss!
If you need to up your winter dental game and prepare for beautiful spring break smiles, MySmile offers products to helpkeep our teeth healthy, clean, and white!
I received the LP221 Cordless Water Flosser to test out. It comes with an OLED display, UVC light santizer, 8 cleaning tips, and a bag for travel! The device's battery, charged via usb-c, can last for up to 40 days in low mode but also contains a water resevoir that's larger than others I've had in the past!
This device is super easy to use. My last one squirted water everywhere, but this one has a 3 step start so that the button isn't accidentally hit, which can be a major mess! It's also made for shower use, in case you don't want to get stuff everywhere on your sink.
To get started:
- Charge your device
- Insert your selected tip by pressing it into the center slot. It will click. To remove, press the tip remover button right below.
- Remove the bottom tank by rotating it away from the base. Add lukewarm water to the fill line.
- Press the power button.
- Select mode by pressing the center mode between thats between the plus and minus. Utilize those plus and minus buttons to adjust the pressure as needed.
There's four modes for usage, depending on your toleration: soft, normal, strong & pulse. There's also 3 pressure levels. This means that over 10 patterns can be customized!
The display is super easy to read too; the user being able to see the set pressure, mode, water temp, and charging level. None of that stuff was available on my past water flosser and it was always a bummer to find it dead, or to not have a clue what pressure setting it was actually on!
To use the irrigator, it's actually simple too. Most flossers require the user tilting their head back, but this one can be held vertically, no tipping. The slanted/ titled cleaning tips do all the work there!
Hold the device so that the tip is at 90 degrees (think right angle). Pause between each tooth for irrigation. Press the power button at any point to pause.
Note- the gravity ball within the water tank must hit water for the device to work properly!
While water flossers still irritates my gag reflex, its actually a better method for me getting my teeth cleaned (unless I have a coughing fit.. then all bets are off) than using wax floss.
Included cleaning tips:
- 4 Standard Tips for regular cleaning
- 1 Tonque Cleaner Tip
- 1 Plaque Seek Tip (useful around crowns, bridges, and implants)
- 1 Orthodontic Tip (remove debris caught in braces.. sure which I had this when I was a teen!)
- 1 Pik Pockte Tip (to effectively clean below the gumline)
The included UVC sterilization mode is a plus too, so that you know the inner workings of the device are safe for use when you return to it!
Why do you need a oral irrigator/ water flosser?
If you have difficulties with floss; the LP 221 can remove 99.99% of plaque surrounding your teeth! That means those of you with orthodontics, periodntitis, bad breath, dental implants, dental plaque, and tooth decay can have better teeth!
The customizable options with water flossers can be helpful for people with various sensitivities. Whether its sensitive teeth, or a sensitive gag reflex, or even small & tight areas surrounding exisiting dental care; the LP 221 Irrigator can keep your teeth happy, healthy, and safe this winter season!
If flossing feels like a chore (as it does for me), then a water irrigator/ flosser will certanly make this habit easier, comfortable, and one I'll actually stick with! I love my pink color because it adds some brightness into my day, but there are standard colors available too.
MySmile will certainly have a water irrigator that is suitable for your family's needs!
