Why We Love Light of the World

If you’re a fan of the 1990s golden era of 2D, hand-drawn animation, this movie will instantly feel nostalgic and familiar. This is such a win for parents like me, who grew up loving this type of animation.
This is the very first feature film from the Salvation Poem Project, a ministry committed to sharing Jesus with the world.
It was directed by two incredible talents:
- John Schafer, producer of the beloved program Superbook (a childhood favorite in so many Christian homes).
- Tom Bancroft, a long-time Disney animator who worked on The Lion King, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast.
Movieguide praises the film, saying it “stresses faith, family, and trusting in God’s plan” and calls it “beautifully animated and entertaining … based entirely on the Bible.”

This truly is a family movie for all ages—whether you’re watching with little ones, tweens, or grandparents, everyone will find themselves drawn closer to the heart of Jesus.
