Back to School Priorities

As a teacher, going back to school time is always so bittersweet. I am excited for the new year and all the adventures that it brings, but I also mourn the end of spending each day with my own child. She is going to Pre-K 4 this year at a new school, and I constantly worry about her transition. So far, we are in week 2, and she seems to have finally settled into her new normal routine.

Where our days used to be planned out to the minute. Now we are trying to make the most out of our 4 hours in the evenings.  Between the church groups, t-ball, dance, and family outings, we can sometimes get lost in the everyday and forget to prioritize the family as a unit.

One of the things that my girl and I love to do is cook in the kitchen together! My husband comes home later,  so we make family dinner time a priority in our house. To be honest, the meals generally aren't fancy, they are just thrown together. However, this is about the time, less about the outcome and that is what makes the meal special. This time is sacred to us, there are no phones, music, TV, or distractions. Our focus is just on each other. This is when we all three talk about our days, go over what she is learning in Pre-K, and truly have our family bonding. These are the moments that mean the most and have the greatest impact on our little family each day!

What is your family priority in this time of new beginnings?
