Puckett's Southern Comfort Cooking To Warm Your Soul & Belly

Thanks to Puckett's & Marshall Hospitality for sponsoring our lunch visit to Puckett's. All thoughts are my own.

Finding food options in downtown Nashville is plentiful. There are many restaurants, food trucks, and options to fill your hungry bellies.

If you find yourself on the corner of Church & John Lewis Parkway stands a restaurant known as Puckett's Gro, right down the road from the Ryman and very close to all the things that make up downtown Nashville.

This little gem of a restaurant has a great history to it. Its beginnings start in Leiper's Fork as a small community grocery store. When its current owners took over, they wanted to establish a community center for people to gather, with great food options. The brand expanded, and it's now located in several Tennessee communities.

Opened in 2010, Puckett's Nashville has great southern food, good music, and a general atmosphere that all in the family will enjoy. This restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; providing options for any point in the day!

A kids' menu has items they will love, but there's definitely something on the menu to satisfy all taste buds in your family. Puckett's is known for having a meat + sides (1-3 options) with daily meat options & specials in country home southern style cooking.

We opted to run into this restaurant for lunch. If your tummies are rumbling after a morning of adventures, and want a tasty app, try the fried pickles. There are other options, of course, but a southern staple seems to be fried pickles!

Breaded and fried to a crisp, these thin sliced pickles are served up with a side of BBQ ranch sauce. My niece loves trying fried pickles and has said she's had her share of ones she didn't like. She didn't discriminate with these, and they were gone within minutes!

My niece opted to try one of the specials: BBQ + side. Her entrée's side was smoked mac'n'cheese, and absolutely loved it. The other meat option of the day was pork chops, but the sides ranged from the mac'n'cheese to collards.

The skillet that arrived was a huge side, and she said it was extremely tasty! I'm pretty sure she didn't have much left on the plate when we finished.

If the meat and side plate isn't your game, then there is a bountiful selection of sandwiches and burgers to choose from.

My sister dived into the Nashville Cheesesteak. A hoagie roll full of smoked beef brisket, topped with white cheddar cheese, with onions and peppers on top, this sandwich is the king of all cheesesteaks. The huge portion size is absolutely filling for those needing to refuel for the rest of the day!

You can see the cheesy goodness spread across the brisket. The brisket was perfect, smoked via cherrywood, Memphis style, and done in-house.

I decided to up my ante with the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. I knew I wanted to try hot chicken in Nashville and while other Nashville hot chicken staples exist, I figured I couldn't go wrong with the hot chicken sandwich from Puckett's.

The Sandwich had a huge piece of fried chicken, bathed in spices and sauce to kick up my taste buds, and came with a side of fries. I was not disappointed, and I wasn't blown across the river with heat, as these spice levels were on point for me. The kick came in the aftertaste and didn't hit me right away, but I had enough liquid to help offset the fire.

Puckett's does recommend reservations for the evening, especially if you want to hear the local live musician playing that night. During the day, the atmosphere is still fun, but you can find an eclectic mix of tourists, locals, business people, and the regular person looking for a great meal.

If you find yourself in other areas of Tennessee, Puckett's is also located in Columbia, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, Cullman, and Hendersonville. Also, Puckett's has been named one of Tennessee’s Top 5 Local Restaurants in the Southern Living’s The South’s Best Awards and one of the 10 Best Barbecue Restaurants in the U.S. in the TravelAwaits Best Of Travel Awards.

Our experience was great. Despite the packed restaurant, our server was super attentive, gave us great recommendations, and they were definitely on-point. Overhead music was playing as we were there during the day, but it wasn't loud to the point of us not having a conversation with each other. Be sure to check out the merch, including sauces and spices from the brand!

Great BBQ, great brisket, great chicken: I doubt't there's anything at Puckett's that you won't enjoy! Be sure to check out this restaurant the next time you head to Nashville or any of its other locations across TN. There are even to- go boxes for your family, or they have the space and ability to cater your event too! This restaurant provides great southern comfort food, great music, and a great time for your entire family, especially on a cold rainy day.

Be sure to visit Puckett's the next time you are in Nashville, and you won't be disappointed!
