It's Monday already!? I don't know about you, but the weekend passed by far to quickly for me. We were mostly busy working on our recently purchased Craftsman home, where the list of things to do seems endless. Renovating a craftsman home has always been a dream of ours. When we purchased this 2800 sq ft, 99 yr old home in June of this year, I'm not sure I realized exactly what we were up against when we closed on this property. I knew we'd have to renovate, but one thing led to another, and we now have a whole house renovation going on. Top to bottom, inside and out, and y'all... it's a lot.
Lots of emotions, lots of lost time in the design process, too many options from tile, fixtures, hardware, flooring, paint colors. One can become swirly headed so easily. I find shopping online hard sometimes because there are just too many options to choose from.
Inside, I have an almost completely painted downstairs, sans the gutted kitchen, demoed master, and bathroom. Upstairs painting is beginning soon, and floors are being sanded next week. Appliances are in, cabinets are in, farmhouse sink and pot filler are in, vanities are in, light fixtures are on their way... I can't wait to see them all installed.
While the waiting is hard (and I'm bad at waiting), I've been happiest just working outside to give this home some curb appeal. Landscaping little by little makes my heart happy. Adding new rocking chairs to the side porch reminds me that I'll have a lovely spot to enjoy coffee.
Yet to come will be exterior paint (bye bye red, hello blue!), renovating the columns, resurfacing the porch floor, adding fans and light fixtures, fencing, more landscaping. But for now, I feel accomplished. I see a transformation... vision becoming reality, and I see pieces of my heart in this home.
I'm sharing a few pics from today's front and side yard cleanup and landscape work. Note- there was NOTHING there when we closed on the house. In a season or two, the perennials will be really lovely. Can't wait to see.
Since some of you have been asking for pics and updates, here's a peek at what's been going on outside.
I'll post indoor progress pics next... promise! I'm mainly posting home updates on Instagram, so be sure to follow @mommysblckparty on Insta to keep up with us in our home reno journey! I'm looking forward to sharing more with you soon!
Praying blessings over you this week!
