Gift Giving is Tough!

Y'all, I don't know if you have noticed, but Christmas gifts are hard to find this year! My family is gearing up to head to the beach for our annual Christmas Vacation, so my hubby and I have decided not to exchange gifts this year. However, that doesn't mean that we won't be giving gifts to other family members this year. Normally I'm ahead of the game and have started my shopping in October, but this year, I've been a bit behind. This is where I've run into a bit of a conundrum, I can't seem to find gifts anywhere this year!

I'm not a huge online shopper, but I'm working so much, and live so far away from stores, that I have very little free time to shop. Last weekend I was able to hit three different stores, but that literally took me all day to do. And while I was able to completely shop for my niece, I was left nearly empty-handed for everyone else. While perusing the aisle of my local shops, I quickly realized that the empty toy shelf stories are true. My stores were pretty bare, and I could hear shop clerks mentioning to others that they weren't sure if they'd be getting more shipments in before Christmas! While I was frustrated by this information, I can't say that I'm surprised. So, with one kiddo done, we headed home to check for some online deals!

Once home, and settled in, I got on to Amazon to check several family ember lists, but I was met with the same problems as in-store, no inventory! Every item on my nephew's list is out of stock, or unavailable, and if I did manage to find it, it's three times the normal price! Now, I have been able to find some great deals online at other stores, but some of those items have been canceled due to a lack of inventory! I have yet to receive a single item I've ordered, but I've been guaranteed delivery before Christmas, so we'll see if that's true, lol!

While I'm utterly exhausted and frustrated by the debacle of gift-giving, I can't help but be reminded of what Christmas is really about. Christmas is about Christ's birth, our Savior King. God sent us his son, to be born to a virgin named Mary, who would come down to die on a cross,  deliver us from our sins, and prepare us an eternal place with him in Heaven. This is what Christmas is about, and while I love to give gifts, I love knowing the true gift is Christ, My Savior King!

  1. That is so true. I have a lot of trouble trying to figure out what to gift some people.
