People Pleaser

I believe all of us have a need to be liked and please others.  I went into customer service because of the need to please others and being a mom and wife that is all I want to do.  The problem is that sometimes pleasing others makes your needs take a back seat.  This can be damaging to your own mental health and if no one has told you before... it is okay to take a break from pleasing others and doing something for yourself.

Being nice despite obstacles or even just not feeling like it can drain you emotionally, mentally, and physically. Most of us ignore the signs and it effects our health. So what are the signs? What do you do?

Signs
1. Irritability
2. Exhaustion
3. Stress Headaches
4. Overeating

Coping Skills
1. Take a nap
2. Listen to music
3. Watch a television show that makes you laugh
4. Read a book
5. Take a bath

You don't have to be everything and everywhere for others. I know it is hard to feel like you are letting someone down, but you aren't.  The only time this is true is when you are doing something for others despite yourself.

    1. I don't see it as a flaw. You choose to be amazing and supportive to others. You just need to make sure you do it for you too.

  2. Thanks for this! I feel this is definitely me. I always think I have to do as much as I can for others in order to keep a good relationship. The coping skills you mentioned definitely do help

    1. Just know you are amazing and need that reciprocated. Give to those who give back.

  3. The hardest thing for me to learn was learning to say no, but thankfully I did. It was the beginning of me taking better care of myself.

    1. Great tip. Saying no should be something we can all say.
