Weekends with the Wigglesworths- It's All a Bit of a Mixed Bag Lately!

Happy Saturday, friends! It's Saturday, May 9, 2020. We're a bunch of days into social distancing, distance learning, and being bored in the house. Tomorrow is Mother's Day and while I'm looking forward to it, I'm also disappointed because I won't get to spend the day with my own Mom or my Grandma.  The past week has been full of ups and downs, and although every week is like that, this social distancing thing has seemed to intensify the high and low periods.

On Monday we finally got the official word that Connecticut would not be opening school buildings back up for the remainder of the year. We were already anticipating that, but a part of me was hopeful that we would get to return and I cried when the announcement was made.

Yesterday, my nephew, E, had his "turning green" ceremony for the Army. Because of the virus, they had to shut down the base to families, so families of the soldiers, including my sister and brother-in-law, were not able to attend in person. They handled the news better than I would have. Thankfully, we were all able to watch it online, which was truly a special thing.

This week, a friend posted something on social media that asked:  "Are you thriving or surviving in quarantine? Are you using this time, to your advantage?". Earlier on, I would have had a definite answer, it would be that I was THRIVING. Recently though, it's been more of a mixed bag, which is what my reply to her was.

Some days I feel like I am thriving and other days it's just about getting through the day. I've had mostly thriving days this week and I'm thankful, but the days that are all about surviving, they are valuable too! There is no right way or wrong way to approach this time in our history. We can only do the best that we can and I am proud of all of us for doing it!

Surviving or thriving-how are you feeling today? I'd love to chat with you so feel free to leave a comment or catch up with me on the MBP Facebook Page.

Have a splendid Saturday!
