Moving On Up: Our New Home!

If you've been following Mommy's Block Party on social media the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed that my family and I broke some major (to us) news recently. We're moving... this weekend! We've been hoping and praying for the past couple of years that the right home would come along for our family. I had a huge wishlist of what I wanted, as did my hubby, and we can hardly believe that we've been able to tick off the boxes of 'wants' and needs in our new home.

While our home is new to us, it's an old home, located in a historic neighborhood. The house was built in 1915, and is a beautiful Craftsman style house. Sacha and I have always been drawn to old homes. Salisbury has a plethora of breathtaking historic homes, and it's always been a dream of ours to own one of them. While there is an array of stunning 'designer' homes, situated on the county's most pristine golf courses, our jam has always been the older homes that need TLC- we're not afraid to get our hands dirty, and  being able to put our personal stamp on a home that already drips with southern charm and historic style is the icing on the cake for us.

Beanie has no problem taking the reigns and conquering the space in our new home.

While we're terribly excited about the house, and the move, it hasn't come without its challenges for our family. Of course, our new home is much larger than our current home- nearly 2400 sq ft, which is a lot of space to fill with belongings, love, and laughter., not to mention a large space to clean!

My son has been begging us for a larger home- a two story home with lots of space, a large yard to play in, and enough bedrooms that he doesn't have to share space with his sister for every little thing. Our new house has all the room- so much room, in fact, that the master suite is located downstairs, and for the first time in their lives, the kids will sleep upstairs. This is causing a bit of anxiety- both for the kids and for mommy, but with new monitors in place, and an excellent and top safety rated gate at the top of the stairs, all will be well. It's just one of the many things we'll have to get used to in a larger house.

We're lucky because we only moved a few blocks over from our previous home! Some folks deal with much larger moves, over longer distances. I've done the NJ to NC move, and the NC to MD move and back- so I totally get how stressful that can be for families. This Ultimate Relocation Guide is a huge help to those who are planning a big move. The guide even includes a free moving checklist, which will make things so much easier for those who are trying to stay organized while planning a move.

A spacious kitchen is a dream come true for us!

In the coming weeks, I'm going to be sharing a series of posts covering topics related to moving. We've all done it at least once, and I know this won't be the last move for me and my husband. We do plan, however, for this to be the home we raise our kids in until we are empty nesters. This is the house we will call home, and day by day, it feels like home already. There's a lot to cover when it comes to moving- the packing, the organizing, dealing with the many emotions that come with leaving your previous home (trust me, we're dealing with that now), and keeping life balanced while unpacking and setting up a new house. We still have to work, have commitments to keep, volunteering to do, and some of us even have businesses to run (but hey, that's another story that I can't wait to share with you).

Stay tuned for much more. I can't wait to show you more of our new home, and unpack and share my thoughts on the many things that come with moving.

How many times have you moved in your lifetime?
