Wishing Pixies: Interactive Toy that Teaches Through Play #GIVEAWAY

Thanks to Wishing Pixies for providing me with product for this post. All thoughts are my own.

Wishing Pixies: an interactive toy that helps teach social skills and develop strong children through interactive play!

When I first heard about the Wishing Pixies, I thought it was such a unique idea for a toy that would provide continued entertainment, rather than just a few minutes like most toys!  Instead of just a doll (or “Pixie Action Figure” as we’ll be referring to it with my son), the toy comes with an interactive app that allows the child to not only interact directly with his or her Pixie but to help the Pixie complete tasks around his or her home!

With the parent playing the part of the Pixie through the online dashboard, the child uses the app to interact with his or her Pixie! This interaction occurs directly through a chat function and in the game areas of the app, where the child helps the Pixie complete tasks, such as collecting vegetables from the garden and helping to clean up the Pixie’s room.

Collecting Vegetables in the Garden

Created by a mom and teacher, the goal of Wishing Pixies is to help parents raise children that are developmentally and socially strong, emotionally resilient, and kindhearted.  Her vision was to create a tool that parents could use to promote good behavior and positive thinking in their children.  I think that it’s safe to say that Wishing Pixies accomplishes this goal through both the premade game/chores that happen in the app and the customizable content that allows the parent to set goals and tasks of real-world behaviors that the parent wishes to encourage in his or her child!  Once the child carries out these tasks and chores, the child earns Pixie Dust at a rate set by the parent.  This Pixie Dust can then be used to grant Wishes—specific requests from the child that the parent (as the Pixie) can approve or deny.

One of my favorite features that that, in addition to tasks and chores, the parent can assign daily meditations and affirmations that the child can do with his or her Pixie to help the child develop emotional strength and a good self-image!  I especially like that you can choose from pre-made affirmations or create your own specifically addressed at your child’s own challenges or struggles.

Unfortunately, Little Bear is still a little young to play with his Pixie, so I asked MBP Editor Ondria’s daughter Bean to check them out! She seemed to thoroughly enjoy playing with the Pixie dolls and interacting with them through the app, so speaking from both Parent and Child perspective, Wishing Pixies is a win!  I will be happily suggesting it as the perfect Christmas gift for all the kids I know!
