Last week, my little boys were given 2.5 days off from school for "Fall Break". That's 2.5 days for this mama to fill with some fun memories before heading back to the routine. We decided to spend one of the days in Charlotte and had such an amazing time!

Adventuring through Charlotte, NC is not only fun, but also beautiful. We love living in North Carolina! It seems there are endless opportunities for fun and even educational activities to do with your family. We love finding new spots and what's even better is when they become family favorites.

Working up an appetite after walking through the amazing Northlake Mall, we were very excited to dine at the Firebirds Wood Fired Grill which is directly attached to the mall.

I've heard this restaurant spoken about by numerous people and it's always soaring reviews! Being a mom of two little boys (7 and 8), I try to find restaurants that have a great kid's selection on the menu. Not all restaurants cater to family dining and that's ok, of course! However, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill most definitely does. The kids menu offers TWO side options with the entrée as well as a pack of Oreo cookies. This comes with the meal!

My boys ordered the bbq ribs with macaroni and cheese and the fruit cup for $8.95 and the cheeseburger with fries and macaroni and cheese for $6.50.

When we arrived, the kids were given crayons and a very nice activity menu! There were many games and puzzles for them to work on. This is important for those mamas out there. The menus kept them busy until their meals came! The food came out promptly and honestly, our server was the nicest guy. My two boys LOVED their entire meals. In fact, my son said it was one of the best burgers he has ever eaten and my other kiddo said the same about his ribs.

Marcel at the Firebirds Wood Fired Grill Northlake Mall location is not only a very attentive server, but also a nice person. We got to chatting about moving to NC from up north and we had that in common. The manager, Dominique came to talk with us as well and could not have been nicer! The entire atmosphere at this establishment is very friendly and welcoming. We felt like we were being welcomed into their home and it set the mood for such an enjoyable experience.

My husband decided to order the sesame encrusted salmon with ginger aioli and fried spinach for $17.15 and I ordered the Firebirds chicken pasta for $12.75. There are plenty of sandwiches and salads to choose from as well. The salads, I have heard are incredible!

This pasta dish was phenomenal! My husband loved his salmon and was most surprised by the fried spinach! I tried a bite myself and I have never had a green vegetable taste that amazing. Wow. If you go to Firebirds, you have got to try the salmon and fried spinach! I love that a fruit cup was an option for the kid's sides. As you can see in the picture above, the fruit cup was large and filled with fresh fruit. Firebirds does not skimp on portion size or quality of ingredients. I really can tell when a restaurant puts care into their food. We are big fans of Firebirds and will most definitely be back and hopefully soon.

The restaurant is bright and very pretty inside. We were so blessed to be able to dine at Firebirds and by the entire staff as well. They made us feel welcomed and taken care of in a way that you truly do not experience very often.

Whether you want a romantic experience for you and your honey or the perfect family dinner spot, Firebirds is perfect. The bar area was large and had a great selection as well. There is truly something for everyone.

Having the mall right there, we enjoyed spending some time shopping before we dined.
