Summer is quickly nearing it's end, but here in the southern states, outdoor fun is just getting started!
Meet Chilla … the fish:
"There once was a hugely fun little boy fish swimming the oceans of childhood. This little guy was so cool, that his friends called him “Chill” instead of Bill. This little guy had the looks of his mother and the fun attitude of his father. It was the perfect mix and thus they called him “Chilla”.
The little Chillafish soon grew up and went to college to learn how to make more Chillafish with all his own qualities: fun, playful, beautiful. After some years of experience he talked to some big fish investors about his plans to bring the Chillafish values to the wide world out there, so all kids in and out the water could enjoy playing the way they deserve."
And thus, Chillafish was born! I've been really excited to share with you about this brand and the "Skatie" which is a skateboard built especially for young children. When my youngest little guy began thinking about his upcoming 7th birthday (not sure how he is almost 7, already?!), one of the items that he very sweetly mentioned wanting to have is his very own skateboard.
He had previously never tried to use a skateboard and really had no idea how to even maneuver one. I think he has seen videos on YouTube and some clips on TV of skateboarders and thought these guys and gals look VERY cool.
With Summer being in full swing and knowing how important safety is to me, I was thrilled to find out about Chillafish. Safety is important to them too. In fact, the products they make are built with such care and precision with childhood safety in mind. I fell in love with this idea. Skateboards initially made this mama a little nervous, if I'm being honest. However, the Skatie is made with safety in mind. From the moment you open the box, you feel the quality of the production of this skateboard. It is SOLID.

Something very unique about this skateboard is the colored panels are removeable and interchangeable!
We knew our little guy would love the red, lime green and black skatie so that is the one that Chillafish so generously sent to us. I think it's safe to say his birthday wish has 100% come true.
I know the picture isn't the absolute best quality, but the expression and the boy within surely are. This is the purest excitement and thrill as he rounded the corner of the house and saw his new skateboard. He's a little dirty and a little disheveled (let's be honest, most little boys are), but his face says it all!
I think his 7th birthday will be one he remembers. Sometimes we think back on special birthdays that we received a special gift and it leaves an imprint on our minds. For me, it was my 16th birthday. My parents put together a surprise party for me and got me my very own video camera and polaroid camera. Thus began my journey and obsession into the art of capturing life.
As I said, my little man has a long way to go before he gets the hang of using his new skatie, but the skatie lends itself to beginners. I was very surprised at how well he did for his very first time. I know this is because of how well-made the skatie is. The wheels are thick and very sturdy as is the actual board. It has the perfect amount of grip and is the perfect size for this budding 7 year old guy!
