Cutting Ties and Finding Peace


I'm a tough chickie. Well, I try my best to act like one. I'm sure that I can fool most strangers and acquaintances, but those closest to me know better. Sometimes. 



The past few months have been pretty difficult for me. I have had to cut ties with people that I care about deeply, in order to protect my own peace of mind. I care to a fault and it's been that way for as long as I can remember. The problem is, that tends to bite me in the backside a little too often for my liking. So, for the past few months, I've been listening to my heart telling me one thing and my brain telling me something different. It's kind of exhausting. 



The hardest part about cutting ties with someone, for me, is that I feel extreme guilt in doing so. I don't like making other people feel bad, even if they don't seem to mind making me feel that way. I just have to keep reminding myself, cutting others out is not meant as a punishment for them, but rather a saving grace for myself.  I deserve to love and care for myself as much as I love and care for others. 

I just want to encourage those of you who may be going through a similar situation. Cutting someone you care about out of your life is not a decision that was made lightly. It doesn't mean that you just stop caring, because you absolutely do not. You just care from afar now, because you need to. It is okay to prioritize your peace of mind over any relationship that brings toxicity to your life.

  1. I have been there and done that. Sometimes you just have to get rid of anything toxic in your life for your own sanity.
