Through the years, our family has been blessed with so many fun and unique travel experiences. It can be hectic at times, but I can honestly say that my husband and I love traveling, and we love traveling with our kids. When we first became parents, we quickly decided that we wanted to take our kids everywhere- so they could experience life outside of where we live as a family. We've taken short trips, long trips, and have even traveled internationally, all with very small children in tow. The memories we make and their expressions and reactions to what they are able to see, hear, and experience makes every cranky hour spent in the car absolutely worth it.

A favorite family destination for a week away or even a long weekend trip has become beautiful Gatlinburg, TN. Just under a four-hour drive from our hometown in North Carolina, Gatlinburg is a friendly neighbor- one we've come to love. We have taken two trips as a family to Gatlinburg in the past year, and let me tell you- each trip has been out of this world fantastic. Gatlinburg offers so many wonderful places to stay, things to see and do, and lots of great places to shop and eat, too. Experiencing Gatlinburg with little ones is awesome, but this spring, Sacha (AKA- hubby) and I got to experience Gatlinburg sans kiddos, and it was like a completely different world with a totally different experience from our previous trips. 

I'll share more about what we did and where we went as a couple while in Gatlinburg, but first, let's talk about where we stayed. The base layer for any trip is lodging. Gatlinburg has so many wonderful lodging options, and we were so excited to be able to stay right in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg on our recent visit to the wonderful city.

Glenstone Lodge is the perfect place for couples to reconnect in Gatlinburg!

A gem in the heart of Gatlinburg, TN, Glenstone Lodge offers gorgeous accommodations with that relaxed mountain vibe visitors hope to experience during their stay.

Located just off the main road through downtown Gatlinburg sits Glenstone Lodge, a top family favorite for lodging in Gatlinburg. We visited Gatlinburg for two days in early March and were warmly welcomed by the wonderful staff at Glenstone Lodge. One of the best things about this large lodge is that it's within walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg. You can step out the door, walk down the street a few blocks, and you'll be right in the midst of great places to shop, eat, and experience!

The Glenstone Lodge is such a unique place to stay. Its lobby is exquisite, and quite spacious, as well.

Sacha and I were excited to stay at the beautiful Glenstone Lodge in Gatlinburg. It's a well-loved place to stay in Gatlinburg and is awesome for families, folks who might be in town on business, or for couples who are looking for a great place to relax. Since this trip to Gatlinburg was just for us, we were drawn to the lovely private rooms which have been recently updated.

As we walked into Glenstone Lodge, we were blown away by the beautiful lobby. It's quite a sight to behold. There are many different lounging areas in the lobby, which offers plenty of space to relax and enjoy a hot cup of coffee, read, work, or map out your plans for the day ahead.

We were greeted by friendly staff at the front desk, and they helped us get all checked in quickly, which was so appreciated after spending four hours in the car. We were given area maps and information, brochures, as well as recommendations for dining. The gal at the front desk even recommended a few local places which would deliver dinner to the lodge, so we didn't have to go out in the rain if we didn't want to.

An exquisite King Suite for two was the perfect place to kick back and relax!

During our stay, the lodge was undergoing some updating. Many of the rooms have been freshly painted and updated, and the hallways were getting a fresh coat of paint and a pop of color, too! It was exciting to be in the midst of an update, and we were impressed by how quiet it was in the lodge, despite many guests being there, and updating going on, as well.

Our room was incredibly beautiful and had amazing views of downtown and the surrounding mountains. One of the best things about staying in Gatlinburg is that there are mountain views in every direction. It's breathtaking! 

We stayed in a king suite with a balcony, overlooking the front of the lodge and downtown. The spacious room felt quite luxurious to us, and we felt like a king and queen during our stay. The large memory foam mattress was so comfortable- we felt like we'd slept on a cloud for two nights. It was heavenly. The linens were lovely- soft to the touch, and very clean, which is always wonderful to see and experience when you're away from home.

Everything we needed was available right within our suite at Glenstone Lodge.

Our room included a gorgeous working fireplace, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight to be able to come in out of the cold and flip a switch to turn the fireplace on. It was bitterly cold and snowy during our visit, so the fireplace warmed us right up. It was lovely. The fireplace also helped set the tone for a relaxed vibe. As parents with two schedules that never seem to match up, we sometimes go weeks without really seeing each other, so it was nice to be able to be together- just the two of us in one gorgeous setting at the Glenstone Lodge.

Our room also included a desk with a chair, which was great for me, as I am always working when I travel. We had plenty of storage space for clothing and other items that we brought from home. There was a mini fridge for keeping our snacks and drinks in, a microwave, a coffee maker with complimentary coffee, and of course- a flat screen TV with plenty of channels. I love being able to catch the news and local weather when we travel.

I loved the bathroom attached to our suite, as well. It had also been recently updated with new fixtures and countertops. Everything that we might have needed, toiletries-wise was provided for us. I always worry about waking family members up early in the morning if I am getting ready for the day in the hotel bathroom, but my hubby never even heard me budge- that's how quiet it was.

We didn't spend a ton of time out on the balcony of our room, but I had to step out and enjoy the view in the fresh mountain air a time or two. It was just too pretty not to soak in! It snowed all day during our visit, and it was so cool to see the tops of the mountains covered in fresh snow.

Another reason to stay at the Glenstone Lodge is their amazing indoor pool! This is a beautiful space to sit and relax in, or to enjoy a little time in the water. The heated pool has two levels and a hot tub, plus a fun water feature! There are tables and chairs all around the pool area, as well as lounge chairs. There's even an indoor putt-putt area off to the side of the pool! This is such a big, beautiful space, and it was certainly being enjoyed by many families while we enjoyed our stay at the lodge. I know my kids would flip over this pool! I can't wait to bring them back to Gatlinburg so we can stay at the Glenstone Lodge as a family, and so they can experience this awesome space for themselves!

Breakfast, anyone?

A hot mini-breakfast buffet is available in the dining area off the lobby.

Considering how complicated it can sometimes be to travel- with or without kids, it's always nice to stay somewhere which offers breakfast options on-site. The Glenstone Lodge offers a hot mini breakfast buffet weekdays and full breakfast buffet with omelets and waffles cooked to order Saturday and Sunday. *Please note that breakfast is an additional fee.

It's so nice that you can come down from your room, have a nice, hot breakfast, and then walk out the doors of the lodge, down the street, and then boom- start your day of sightseeing in Gatlinburg. There are tons of 'quick bite' options for lunch or snacks nearby, including Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Five Guys, and more! If you're looking for sit-down restaurants, there are plenty of those, too- Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is just down the street, as is Mellow Mushroom, and there are lots of other places, too. 

Sometimes you just need a little time to yourself, and Glenstone Lodge gives guests plenty of space to kick back and relax.

It's sort of a tradition of mine when we travel to grab a little 'me time' by heading to the lobby of the hotel for a quiet cup of coffee. Whether traveling with the whole (extended family), my kids, or just my spouse, I always need a few quiet minutes to decompress. I found the beautiful lobby of Glenstone Lodge to be so calming. I was able to choose from one of the many comfy conversation areas in the lobby to park my tired soul and drink in the warmth of my surroundings- beauty at every turn.

The lodge gave Sacha and me a beautiful setting to relax and reconnect in. We work together a lot, and to have a beautiful spot to rest in while we worked and enjoyed our trip to Gatlinburg helped us to relax and de-stress. It was much-needed!
