I always dreamed about being a teacher. Molding minds and shaping citizens of the future seemed so honorable and fulfilling. Fortunately, I was blessed with some amazing teachers in my educational career who also fostered a passion for teaching.
After studying at Purdue for 5 years, I earned my degrees in English Education and Spanish Education. In my 6.5 years of teaching, I taught at a public high school, a charter elementary/middle school, and a private Catholic school. Teaching is hours of hard work, planning, grading, and communicating with parents. I still found it fulfilling before I decided to stay home with my kids when Hendrix was born.
I do not regret staying home as my babies are only babies for so long. I have done some short leaves and helped at our local high school so that has been a nice balance as I'd like to keep my foot in the door somewhere so when I'm ready to return to the classroom, I have connections.
In between the teaching dreams, I also debated event planner, doctor, and, way out of left field, turf management. The turf management came while I was playing golf.
What was your dream job? Did it change?
I wanted to be a teacher too, but it didn't happen. Now, I just volunteer in my daughter's school when I can and feel a small sense of relief that it didn't happen. 😉

DeleteI wanted to be a teacher or an architect. I ended up going to school to be a dental assistant and now am a stay at home mom. Mom is my favorite job!

DeleteI always wanted to be an archaeologist. I had a fascination with fossils, arrowheads and all types of rocks.
