Disney's The Nutcracker & the Four Realms Arrives Soon in 4K Ultra HD & BluRay! + BluRay #Giveaway (3 Winners)

Thank you to Disney for providing me with product for my review. All thoughts are my own.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved the story of The Nutcracker. My sister and I always enjoyed seeing live performances around the holidays and listened to the magical music of Tchaikovsky year round, falling asleep to The Dance of The Sugarplum Faries. When Disney broke the news that they would be bringing one of our favorite stories to the big screen, I couldn't wait to call my sister and talk about the excitement!

The Nutcracker & the Four Realms certainly brought many fans of the beloved story of The Nutcracker to theatres during the 2018 holiday season, and we're thrilled to be able to enjoy this magical film at home this January!

Inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale and the beloved ballet, Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms arrives on Digital, Movies Anywhere, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ and DVD Jan. 29, 2019. Relieve the magic of this classic tale instantly through bonus features and never-before-seen extras such as a behind-the-scenes look at how the four realms were created to such dazzling effect. Experience the Disney magic and adventure in what is destined to become an annual viewing tradition for adventurers of all ages.

Bonus features include a discussion with American Ballet Theatre’s Misty Copeland about her role as the enchanting Ballerina Princess, her personal history with “The “Nutcracker” ballet, and her inspirational and historic rise within the world of dance. Extras take viewers on the set of “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” to meet both new and reimagined characters, and discover how the Land of Sweets, Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and mysterious Fourth Realm were created to such dazzling effect. Deleted scenes provide a look at magical moments that didn’t make the final version of the movie.

In “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” Clara travels along a golden thread, presented at Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual party, eagerly searching for a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a music box that holds a priceless gift. When she enters a mysterious parallel world, Clara encounters a Nutcracker soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and three Realm regents, including the Sugar Plum Fairy (Keira Knightley). Ultimately, she must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve the key and return harmony to the unstable world.

The stunning feature film will be packaged and released in several different formats, giving families the flexibility to watch it on a variety of different devices. Viewers can instantly watch the film in Digital UHD, HD and SD, and bring home a physical copy of the film as the Ultimate Collector’s Edition (4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital Code), Multi-Screen Edition (Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Code) or a single DVD.

Our Thoughts

Of course, I had high expectations for this movie. When childhood favorites are once again brought back to life, you can't help but want them to be excellent, and be everything you loved and more, as a child. I was so excited by the wonderful casting decisions made for this film! So many favorite actors brought the characters of this film to life and filled our heads and hearts with pure magic as we watched.

Every detail of this film is simply fabulous. The music just dances along and carries through the story. The writing was outstanding, and the costumes- well, Disney does it again. They were exquisite, and so was the makeup and hair. Every single detail of the film from the script to the scenery was outstanding. We loved diving a bit deeper into the story we grew up loving, and it was wonderful for me to share the beautiful experience that was viewing this film with my own children. We are so happy to be able to add it to our Disney movie collection and can't wait to watch this one over and over again.
