I'm not sure if personality, temperament, and nature are all predetermined, but I do know that I not only look more like my dad, but I am more like my dad. As August is here, it gets me thinking about him and me and our relationship because we both have August birthdays. Not only that, but tomorrow my dad turns 70. Even though this picture is a few *cough..7* years old, it is one of the absolute best pictures of us. My dad looks so dapper and I was so happy to have him walk me down the aisle on my wedding day.

My father, Karl, is one of the most selfless people I know. It is ingrained in him to help others before helping himself. He is kind, understanding, private, and a little stubborn. I must say, I can relate to all of these. Quiet, reserved, and not so quick to share my life story, but am willing to help anyone whenever they need it. 

Clearly we look very similar. My mom had black hair and brown eyes. 

Like I was saying, I don't know if all personality characteristics are predetermined or if they develop over the years based on environment and relationships. However, I think there was something in the works when I was born. 

You see, my dad was in the Air Force Reserves for 35 years. I did not come right on time and my dad was stationed in Germany at the time. Because I looked so much like my dad, Karl, my mom named me Karla.

So I would like to say an early Happy 70th birthday to my dad, to whom I am very close, appreciate, love, and credit to much of what I've accomplished in my 32 years of life. I love that I am like you and can't imagine a better role model.
