Thanksgiving Morning Musings

Happy Thanksgiving! As I type, I have my turkey in the oven, and I'm about to start peeling potatoes. Stuffing cooked overnight in my slow cooker, and green bean casserole will go in while the turkey rests.

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday and this is the third year that I'm cooking for my family. Before I had my oldest daughter, I could never imagine that I would be in charge of the feast. For many years I would spend the holiday at my aunt Erin's house. The whole house would be packed full of loved-ones, mimosas are served with breakfast, and the party would last long after dinner was served. They are some of my favorite memories.

After having my first, it took a couple years for me to adjust. Because of his school schedule, Ray didn't have the time to go down to Georgia for my usual festivities. After a few sub-par turkey dinners, we figured out that it was time for us to start our own customs as a family. It can be hard to say goodbye to your time-honored traditions, but having a family is the perfect excuse to try something new.

For three years I have spent the week of Thanksgiving getting everything prepped while taking care of our two girls. We have a quiet day together, enjoying food the way we like it prepared, and creating our own special memories. I'm sure things will change some day, but right now, I wouldn't change a thing!

We are so thankful for our readers, I hope you all have a wonderful day!
