This holiday season my family is extra scattered. We all seem to be running around like chickens! I am so looking forward to January when we head to the beach for some much-needed family time & R &R! One of the fun things about the resort that we vacation at is that we are able to stay in a private family cottage which is integrated with the hotel on the beach. We're able to have the privacy we need and still enjoy the amenities of the resort. Sometimes, we wind up in different areas of the hotel and don't always want to carry our phones to the pool, etc- but still need a way to stay in touch.

The handy Talkabout T100 radios come in either pink or blue. We went with the blue since I figured the boys would use these the most. I have found that I have enjoyed using them on my neighborhood walks, though. Carrying around my smartphone is a pain when I'm trying to get a fast-paced walk in, but this little radio is easy to carry or fits well inside of my pocket. I can easily switch on both radios- mine, and the one left with my husband, in case I need to communicate with him while I'm out and about in the neighborhood. I never leave the house without a way to call someone for help, if need be.

How far can I expect my radios to communicate?
The communication range quoted is calculated based on an unobstructed line of sight test under optimum conditions. Actual range will vary depending on terrain and conditions and is often less than the maximum possible. Your actual range will be limited by several factors including, but not limited to terrain, weather conditions, electromagnetic interference, and obstructions.
The radio is compact and fits in my pocket!
One of the main reasons that I was drawn to these 2-way radios, is that my 7-year-old son loves to play outside with his 13-year-old cousin. Neither of them has cell phones, and I want to trust that they'll be okay playing out in the yard alone, but I just don't trust other people. I know that I can switch on the radios and send one out with them, so they can easily communicate with me, and I with them.
When we head to the beach, we'll be able to use the radios to communicate between family units without having to take our phones with us to the game room, pools, sauna, etc. The fact that there is up to a 16-mile range on these is incredible!
