New Series for Elementary & Middle Grade Readers: The Nocturnals + Book Set #Giveaway #MBPBacktoSchool

Thank you to Fabeled Films Press for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

One of my favorite ways to pass the time is to sit down and get lost in a really good book. Lately, I haven't had a lot of extra time to spend reading like I used to. Most of the reading I do anymore is with my kids. I am so thankful that both of my kids love books. Every night, we sit down for about half an hour before bedtime and read together. This is something that I started doing with B when he was just a baby, and we've carried on the tradition through the years. Sometimes I read to him, he reads to me, or he reads board books to his baby sister. I always look forward to our reading time together.

B is a beautiful reader. He enjoys reading and loves using his imagination to fill in the blanks. Always excited to read a new book, B couldn't wait to dive into a wonderful new book for young readers, The Nocturnals, The Moonlight Meeting. This Early Readers book launches this month and is part of a larger series for middle-grade readers, The Nocturnals from Fabled Film Press.

The Nocturnals series of books for middle-grade readers, and a book for early readers, too!

The Nocturnals is a critically acclaimed middle-grade series for readers who love animals, adventure, and a hint of mystery.  The books combine adventure, mystery, and imagination with real-life scenarios that are relatable to elementary and middle school children, particularly regarding the topics of bullying, confidence, friendship, and self-acceptance. The scenarios in the book are perfect ways for parents to segway into those sensitive topics with their young ones.

With the current political climate, parents may be looking for unique tools to help them speak to their children about what is currently happening in the US.  The series is a wonderful resource, providing guidance – particularly on how important it is to accept each other’s differences.  All the books are written in a fun and engaging manner.

A quick look at The Moonlight Meeting, featuring Dawn the Fox, Tobin the Pangolin, and Bismark, the Sugar Glider.

In The Moonlight Meeting, Tobin, a sweet Pangolin, Bismark, a loud-mouthed sugar glider, and Dawn, a serious fox, introduce their nighttime world to early readers. The story emphasizes friendship, sharing, and humor. Includes bonus animal glossary.

Diving right into The Nocturnals: The Moonlight Meeting after school with Dawn the Fox.

B has enjoyed reading this wonderful book. Over just a couple of days, he finished the story, and we were able to enjoy a time of discussion about it. The theme of friendship was recurring in this story, so we talked a lot about friends at school, what it means to have a close group of friends, and to always be willing to lend a helping hand. We also discussed the differences between being a leader and being bossy- there's a fine line that can be hard for kids this age to understand. We also broached the subjects of fairness, social justice, kindness, and bullying. Amazing what kids pick up on at this age, just by reading a story.

We also took advantage of some of the wonderful resources available to parents and educators surrounding this fun series.

As a further incentive to young readers, Fabled has also created fun, and easily printable, activities (face painting, discussion questions, matching and fill-in-the-story games, bingo, and more) developed by literacy experts.  The activities are a unique way to engage children, spark creativity, and make reading fun. Check out The Nocturnals Activity Kits for fun ideas! Educational resources are also available. There are also lots of fun videos available on The Nocturnals website, including B's favorite- A Flabbergasting Showdown!

We're looking forward to sharing The Nocturnals series with B's Cousin C, who is 12, and also loves to read. This series will make a wonderful gift for him. We also can't wait to see if The Nocturnals will roll out with more books geared toward the elementary age. It's something we hope to see more of!

Dawn is ready to lead your kids into the mysterious night through The Nocturnals. Are they ready for adventure?

Fun Idea for the end of summer: set up a tent or fort, get some flashlights (the books are ‘spooky’ and nighttime reading for children is always a blast), print out some activities and crafts, and have Nocturnals themed nights.  Children will enjoy these memories for a lifetime, and so will adults!
