Our summer is jam-packed with day trips, vacations, and even little weekend getaways. Traveling with our kids is something that we always said we would do before they were even part of our world. We love being able to enjoy taking our children to different places, but the reality is that kids require a lot of 'stuff,' and that 'stuff' usually has to come along on our trips. It can be difficult to keep the kids' belonging organized in a way that doesn't drive me crazy. I have found that giving each child a bag or tote with limited space prevents us from bringing along too much, and keeps their stuff all in one handy place.

Jenifer and I chatted a bit about summer plans, our kids, and the need to keep their stuff organized when going on trips. Jennifer is a mom, so she totally gets it. She actually recommended a Mesh Caddy when I made mention of our family beach trip. I loved the idea of having a small bag for B to keep his beach belongings in. I chose a color (black), and then a thread color, and personalization. I went with orange, as B loves orange, and also just went with his name for the personalization. I could have added a cute phrase but wanted to keep it simple this time around.
The Mesh Caddy by Initials, Inc. is perfect for summer adventures!
The mesh caddy is B's go-to bag for summertime. Before we left for the beach, we packed beach essentials in the caddy, including sunscreen, sunglasses, a few small beach toys, water balls, and even a towel! The caddy is made of a mesh material, so it's perfect for the beach. It has four expandable exterior pockets, and a wide storage area inside, plus, it has two handles, which makes for easy carrying.
B couldn't wait to fill his mesh caddy with his beach treasures!
The mesh caddy was perfect for B to be able to carry some of his beach necessities back and forth from the beach to the beach house. It's small enough that he can carry it all on his own, and it isn't weighty. When I told B that it didn't matter if he got sand in the mesh caddy, he was grinning from ear to ear.
B loved carrying his mesh caddy down to the water and rinsing it out.
One of the perks of the mesh caddy is that sand falls right through it, so it really doesn't matter if it gets all sandy. You can simply rinse it with the water, and the sand disappears. The mesh caddy was perfect for B to use to collect his sea shells and other beach findings. He was able to keep some small sand shovels in the pockets, and then fill the middle of the caddy with his shells. The handles made it easy for him to carry the caddy along with us on beach walks as we looked for treasures.
It was a lot of fun to see B so excited about his mesh caddy every day at the beach. He would let us know when he was ready to head out to the beach for the day but would remind us that we couldn't leave until he had his mesh caddy. He was responsible for his bag, and that made him feel proud and accomplished.
Since we've been home from our beach trip, the mesh caddy has had a good wash-out and has served us well on other trips. I used it as a snack bag when we went to FL a couple of weeks ago, filling it with snacks just for B. We have also used it to hold small activities and games in the car, to help keep the back seat organized. It has come along with us on walks, to hold B's nature findings, and I have a feeling that it will soon become a collection bag when it's time for us to harvest pecans from the tree in our back yard. I've even thought about using it as a tub toy bag, hanging it in the shower.
That little mesh caddy has already served so many purposes, and we've been very glad to have it. I'd love to get another one so Baby S can have her own mesh caddy, too.
