Enjoy a Timeless Art With Once Upon a Piece of Paper by Andrea D'Aquino #Review, #Giveaway, #MBPHGG2016

Thank you to The Quarto Group for providing me with product in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

My love of crafting was instilled in me from a young age by my grandmother. I have many childhood memories sitting with her, working on a project while she created a lovely masterpiece. She was always patient with me and included me when she could. Doing arts and crafts has always had a calming effect on me; in fact, just thinking of those treasured moments with my grandma helps melt away any stress.

Once Upon a Piece of Paper: A Visual Guide to Collage is a set of two books by Andrea D'Aquino. Andrea is an accomplished artist who works in many mediums, one of her favorite being collage. With this collection she hopes to inspire others to explore this method that originated in the early twentieth century when Cubism was all the rage.

"When the Cubists first integrated paper, fabric, and newsprint pieces into their paintings, it was considered an audacious intermingling of high and low culture. In doing so, they revolutionized modern art Art was no longer about the end product, it was about the process."

Two separate books included

When I saw the cover art of Once Upon a Piece of Paper, I knew I had to add it to my collection. The bold patterns, colors and use of type are eye-catching are just my style. After receiving it, I love it more them expected. The both books are really a work of art and a pleasure to look at.

In the 112-page book Andrea D'Aquino introduces you to the joy of collage, and gives some tips on how to get started. Each page has a beautiful composition and gets you excited about creating your own work of art. It's broken into three chapters:

The included collage sheets are printed on high-quality paper and help to get your wheels turning. There's a large variety of designs to help you get started on your journey:

Different food pictures and some more basic colors

When not in use, the beautiful collection will have a spot on my coffee table for visitors to admire. It will make an excellent gift for the artists or casual crafter on your list.
