Part of the MBP Back to School Guide

It's been a pretty low-key summer for us. Usually, we take multiple trips out of town during the summertime, but since we have a new baby in the family, we have traveled less this year. We took a quick weekend trip to the mountains with my parents, and a big trip up to NJ to visit family in July. Now that August is here, the travel has mostly consisted of B spending the night at my mom and dad's or at my mother-in-law's. Having the right overnight bag for these fun trips to grandparents' houses makes packing a whole lot easier!



We are long-time fans of Stephen Joseph. We have been using their wonderful, colorful children's products for the past few years, and B has really enjoyed them. Alexandra "Alix" Buckley started making fabric frames to earn a little extra Christmas money. Their popularity was undeniable. In the next year Alix left her job as a 3rd Grade teacher and launched Alexandra & Company, the first division of Stephen Joseph.

Our friends at Stephen Joseph were kind enough to send us a new kids duffle bag for B to try out and enjoy. Stephen Joseph has so many wonderful bags for kids. I love their selection of backpacks (B has had two previous backpacks from Stephen Joseph, and a lunchbox), and other fun accessories, which are perfect for back to school gifts.


We received the Pirate Duffle Bag, which is any little boy's dream travel bag!

The quilted duffle bag from Stephen Joseph is a wonderful size for toddlers and preschoolers or kindergarteners, B frequently stays overnight at one of his grandparents' houses, and having his very own overnight bag makes getting those overnight items together so much more fun, because he gets to pack them himself, and put them into his favorite bag.

The quilted duffle bag is easy to pack, and has a lot of room inside. It also features a zippered interior pocket, which is where we like to pack toiletries. B is notorious for wanting to bring a ton of stuff overnight, and this bag has plenty of space for his clothes and toys.

The spacious duffle bag has enough room for pjs, an extra set of clothes, a bathing suit and flip flops, plus toys and books!

I love the quilted design, and the pirate ship applique. B is all about pirates, so this design was perfect for him. There are tons of other designs to choose from, like a butterfly, pony, ballet shoes, a dragon, a plane, etc. There is plenty of room on the outside of the bag to personalize it with a monogram. You can  add a monogram to this product for $10.00/ The interior is easy to clean- it's wipeable, which is so nice/ I love anything that can be easily cleaned with the swipe of a wipe or damp towel!


Ready to hit the road!

When B is going to be spending the night somewhere, I ask him to grab his overnight bag, and to pack it himself. It's nice for me to be able to give him this responsibility. We make a packing list, and read it together, and then he is sent off to his room to pack the needed items. I do help with packing his toiletries and any special snacks he may want to take along. We always check his bag to make sure he didn't forget anything, but he does a great job by himself. B is starting kindergarten, and little by little, we've been giving him more of his own responsibilities. It's so hard for me to let him be independent, but I know that he's ready to do certain things on his own.
