This will be our first big trip as a family of four, and traveling with an almost 2-month-old will bring a new set of challenges to family travel for us!

Keeping everyone occupied and entertained is a must!
Here's a list of great places to visit or check out when in Blowing Rock...

Suggested Itinerary – 48 Hours of Family Fun

Day 1

Experience the Wild, Wild West. Head to Tweetsie Railroad, North Carolina's first theme park, as early as 9:00 a.m. Purchase tickets at the main entrance if you haven’t already done so online. There’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy including an authentic Western town built up around Tweetsie Railroad’s Main Street. Hop aboard a train pulled by historic steam engines and experience a three-mile Wild West adventure through the Blue Ridge Mountains that will bring you back in time to the days of the frontier. There’s also plenty of other activities like live entertainment, amusement rides and a Deer Park Zoo to explore!

Lunch at the Park. Grab lunch at one of the on-site dining options at Tweetsie Railroad including Feed & Seed, Sparky’s Southwestern & Barbecue or the Tweetsie Palace Saloon. If you’d rather pack your own lunch, bring it with you to your next destination – High Gravity Adventures. There you’re welcome to eat at one of the surrounding picnic tables or on the open-air observation deck. There are also drinks and snacks available for sale at High Gravity Adventures.

Take to the Air. Spend the afternoon at High Gravity Adventures which is open for their spring schedule until 8:00 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The park’s summer schedule will start closer to Memorial Day weekend and will be open 7 days a week. This exciting aerial adventure park is right next door to Tweetsie Railroad and is perfect for the whole family with challenges fit for adults and little ones as young as four years of age. In all, more than 75 different challenges make up the course where guests will be able to climb, balance and swing from heights of 15 to 50 feet in the air.
