Cherry Blossom Festival 2016 #TravelFriday

Spring is here!

Spring is my favorite time of year, and the highlight of the season is our annual walk around the Tidal Basin. Since we are fortunate enough to live right outside of Washington, D.C., Ray and I wait for the Cherry Blossoms to be in peak bloom, then head out for a lovely stroll to enjoy these beautiful treasures. This tradition began the first year we started dating, and I love that we now share it with our two girls!

I love these guys <3

A getting a closer look

This is N's 3rd trip

If you have never been to our nation's capital during this time, it is worth the trip. The trees create a canopy over you and every time the wind blows, a snow flurry of white and pink petals flow through the air. A light floral fragrance is all around you as you dodge low branches (and tourists!) and there's a general feeling of blissfulness all around.

It's also a great time to see some of the monuments...

Jefferson Memorial

Washington Monument

My favorite- Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial

This year, the peak fell the Friday before Easter Sunday. Since the blooms only last 4-10 days, the opportunity to see them is over until next spring. Hope we'll see you there!
