When bringing home a new baby, there are a lot of little things to prep and take care of beforehand. With both of our babies, I wanted to make sure that their nurseries were all set up and ready for use before we headed to the hospital to bring them into the world. With B, we didn't really have a traditional changing table. We made a makeshift table from the top of his low dresser, and pretty much never used it. With S, we wanted a table that would give us a safe and comfortable place to change her, without having to bend down too much, and a table that would give us storage space.

Once we picked out our new changing table, we knew we needed a changing mat/pad. We had an old one that we used with B, and had an inexpensive portable one that we purchased from IKEA. We weren't overly impressed with either of the changing pads, so when I was recently introduced to the Mat' Comfort Changing Mattress by Candide Baby, I was intrigued by its design, and couldn't wait to try it out.

A standard size mat, this is designed to fit with most changing tables.

The Mat' Comfort Changing Mattress by Candide Baby is a genius product. It's super soft, and filled with micro foam beads that contour baby's body when laid on the mattress. The sides are slightly raised, and there is a Velcro strip safety strap to keep baby from rolling off the mat. It's covered in a soft, washable dark grey fabric, which is a nice compliment to most nursery themes and colors.


The Mat' Comfort Changing Mattress comes with a large white bath towel.



The bath towel adheres to the changing mat with a Velcro strip at the top. The strip holds the towel in place, and can be removed with a quick pull.

The added towel is a wonderful element to this changing mat. It's easy to remove, and is cut in a way that allows you to wrap baby up on the mat, or off the mat. Since coming home with Baby S, we have been loving this changing mat! S loves to be laid down on it and have her head and body cradled by the soft, squishy micro foam balls. She knows she's safe on this mat, and I know she's safe, too- because we can strap her down with the safety strip.

The towel just adds to baby's comfort level when using this changing mat. I like having it there during diaper changes, so if there are any accidents, they happen on the towel, and not on the actual mat. The towel can quickly be removed, and promptly washed. It's a thin towel, so it dries very quickly.


The back of the changing mat features a non-slip surface, making it easy to lay down on top of a changing table or dresser top.

We love the way the changing mat looks in S' nursery. It fits in perfectly with our gray, pink and white theme, and looks like it was designed to fit specifically with the changing table we bought. S absolutely loves this soft, safe and cozy spot to be changed. Sometimes she just likes to lie there and play or stare, taking in the brand new world around her.


Happy baby! This is S, lying on the Mat' Comfort Changing Mattress- we laid a blanket over top, as the towel was drying from a diaper changing accident.

My hubby absolutely loves the changing mat. He has already said that he wishes S could have a mattress as cool as this one, to sleep on. It's so soft and comforting- a great alternative to your run of the mill changing mat.
