According to the Humane Society, animal shelters in the US, care for 6-8 million dogs and cats each year. But, did you know that only 30% of animals, in homes, come from rescue organizations or shelters? Shelter and rescue animals are just as deserving of homes as other animals, but over 2.7 million healthy animals remain in shelters each year. These numbers are both sad and scary, especially to animal lovers everywhere. Luckily, there are wonderful people and organizations working day and night to change these statistics.

Operation ResCute is an inspirational, non-profit organization, founded in 2014, by Laurie Brown-Nagin, a mom, animal lover, and marketing powerhouse from New York City. One day, Laurie spotted an Animal Control Officer carrying a puppy to a pro-bono veterinarian, and immediately fell in love with it. The puppy, named Jingles, needed a warm and loving home, and Laurie brought her home to live happily ever after.

Laurie, who has always had a passion for protecting animals, set out to shift the course away from store bought animals and empower the younger generation of children to understand how important animal adoption is. She started the non-profit, www.operationrescute.com, and created a book and plush pal set that focuses on animal adoption stories and 100% of the profits go directly toward helping shelter animals get adopted. Laurie has reported that profits will be used by shelters for marketing /outreach efforts for placement of dogs with families.“Our donations go a long way at the shelters. I was so touched when one shelter told me our donation made possible outdoor dog exercise runs and equipment,” said Brown-Nagin. Her company has already donated to 11 shelters!

The first book and plush in the Operation ResCute series is the true life story of Jingles. It is geared for ages 3+ and retails for $29.99. The story focuses on Jingles life before and after her adoption, to help children learn about animal shelter life and how important rescuing them is. In the heartwarming book, Jingles tells the story in her own voice, including her happily ever after ending. Each boxed set purchase allows the child to also become a ResCuter and hopefully share the importance of others to be ResCuters too.

Laurie's focus and motivation has been this, “It is my dream that the ResCUTE book and plush series will foster the development of empathic and proactive young citizens who will be responsible to their surroundings and others less fortunate. At the same time I hope I can shift the conversation from let’s buy a dog to let’s rescue/adopt one.”

The box contains an illustrated book, stuffed animal, and sticker that will help rescue a shelter animal and open the ResCuter's heart and helping something/one less fortunate.

Even those with animal lovers with allergies or family circumstances can become a ResCuter!

We loved reading about Jingles and her journey, she is one cute pup!

The plush toy is so cute, the girls were enamored with Jingles from the time she came out of the box. They argue over who is snuggling Jingles each night.

Jingles the dog was the first in the Operation ResCute series, and the plans are already in the works for more four-legged friends. The Story of Tanner, featuring a true life tale of a three week old shelter puppy that tries to escape and finds her forever home will be released just in time for the holidays as ResCute #2. ResCute #3 will feature Hudson, thanks to a neat contest for those families who rescue their own friend from a shelter.
