Summer is such a fun time for fashion lovers. Gone are the muted colors of winter, and the warm season welcomes favorites such as dresses, shorts, and tanks. When I pop into my closet on a summer day, all I can think is, 'Let's play!' I love feeling like I did when I was a little girl, wanting to play dress up. I used to dislike my summer wardrobe, feeling like my winter clothes and accessories were better than my collection of pieces for summer, but over the past couple of years, I have added some really fun pieces to the summer side of my closet.
Fashion is ever-changing, and summertime can be a bit of a challenge, because I'm pretty active with my little guy on and off during the day. I need to be comfortable for outdoor play, so I stand by summer staples like shorts and tanks to tees, but on the nights I have other stuff going on, I like to amp up the fashion dial just a little bit.

I had the pleasure of connecting with the gals at Jack & Monroe, and was looking forward to trying out one of the hottest summer styles... a kimono.
My Jack & Monroe package arrived at my door, and I couldn't wait to tear into it!
My kimono was wrapped in tissue paper, secured by a Jack & Monroe sticker.
When I peeled back the tissue paper, a colorful display of pretty florals was revealed!
The Jack & Monroe team sent me a handwritten note, which was so thoughtful! I appreciated receiving business cards, and postcards with my package. I certainly enjoy sharing my favorite boutiques with my friends!
I received the Ivory Floral Fringe Kimono
This kimono is pure beauty at every angle! From the gorgeous pink multi floral print to the trendy tassel edges it's a must-have piece for Spring!

This pretty piece marries two hot summer trends- the kimono, and fringe. When I think of kimonos, I think of a silky robe. To me, there's nothing more luxurious than slipping into a kimono in the evenings, or first thing in the morning. Who wouldn't want to experience that same comfort and chic style all day long? I remember telling a friend that I just didn't know if I could do the fringe thing, but as it turns out, I like this particular design. The fringe isn't super long or out of control, and it frames the kimono beautifully. Different for me? Absolutely, but I've been pretty open to many different styles recently.
The one thing I wasn't sure about, was how I wanted to style the kimono. It can easily be worn with a pair of skinny jeans, but it's just too hot in NC to wear anything but shorts right now. So, I opted for a pair of light chambray shorts, with a colored cami, as a base for the kimono.

Sweet, simple, comfortable summer style!
By pairing the floral kimono with the chambray shorts, and yellow cami, the colors in the kimono stood out even more. I also have a great pair of deep pink skinnies that the kimono could work well with. I was able to wear the kimono comfortably all day. I did wind up taking it off a couple of times- when cooking (no one wants fringe catching on fire, and I am a bit of a spastic cook), and when playing ball with my son. Otherwise, the kimono was beautiful, and easy breezy to wear. I received a number of compliments on it, so I know it's a definite winner! I won't want summer to end... I want to be able to wear this pretty piece all year long! I guess I'll just have to visit Jack & Monroe boutique for more great styles!
