What can I say, I loved this!! I am a sucker for romance. I had read this series of books years ago. Janette Oke is one of my all time favorite writers...I love all of her books and have read all of them. I do not watch very much TV and did not know that this was a series that came on the Hallmark Channel. This is a good, clean show...based on the episode that I watched! I was excited to see on the cover who was in this series! Jack Wagoner was a teenage crush for me. And I grew up watching Full House and love Lori Loughlin. This show takes place in the frontier era in a small town. I love how the people dress in that time. When Calls the Heart airs on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday evenings at 8:00. Thank you to the Hallmark Channel for a good series to watch on TV. I will be tuning in from now on. Ladies...you will want to join me!

Starring Erin Krakow (Army Wives), Daniel Lissing (Eye Candy), Lori Loughlin (Full House, 90210), and Jack Wagner (The Bold & The Beautiful, General Hospital), When Calls The Heart is “a beautiful story with roots in relationships, self-empowerment, and the enduring power of love” (Common Sense Media).

Elizabeth Thatcher (Krakow) is an independent, strong-willed teacher who has foregone the life of the big city and found a job, a home – and a bit of unexpected romance with a handsome Mountie named Jack (Lissing) – in the small frontier town of Coal Valley. But when she receives a telegram informing her that her mother has taken ill, she returns to Hamilton, her hometown, with Jack as her escort. Once in the comparably opulent Hamilton, Elizabeth and Jack are confounded by Jack’s ne’er-do-well brother and Elizabeth’s former suitor, Charles Kensington. But it is Elizabeth’s father, William, who drives a wedge between them when he suggests to class-conscious Jack that Charles would be a better match for his well-bred daughter. A new dawn breaks, bringing hope and optimism to Coal Valley. As children play in the street, Abigail prepares for customers at her café. Further down the street Elizabeth arrives for her first horseback-riding lesson with Jack. The two poke fun at each other as Elizabeth attempts to ride for the first time. But their happiness is tempered when they see a mining executive escorting the new judge into Mr. Gowen’s office. While initially thrilled at the early departure of Judge Black, the arrival of Judge Parker, who appears to be a friend of the mining company, has the town on edge.

Hoping to counter the mining company’s efforts is a new and talented prosecutor, Sam Madison. Sam is rumored to be one of the best lawyers around and he’s agreed to come to coal valley to fight for the widows. But hopes are quickly dashed when Sam’s coach arrives and a young woman steps down. It turns out that Sam is short for Samantha. Samantha tries to assure the townsfolk that the she is more than capable of prosecuting the case, but as she enters the judge’s chambers, only to find him chatting with Mr. Gowen, it becomes clear that this trial will be no thing short of an uphill climb.
