Our thoughts...

Wallykazam is a new show to us. We had never seen it or heard of it before. When I did a bit of research about the show and learned that it was centered around literacy, I was pretty excited to see it. Balian was immediately captured by the DVD jacket, because it was so colorful and fun. He saw Wally and his pet dragon, the magical forest, a magic wand, and he was sure that he wanted to watch it.

We turned the first episode on, and within just a few minutes, B was sort of unsure about the creatures featured in the story. We followed along as Wally used special magic words to help tire out a pet. I loved that throughout this show, there was an emphasis on vocabulary expansion, spelling, rhyming, etc. B is learning to read right now, so this show is helpful, as it encourages him to read, sound out words, and even picture himself in the story. Wally and his friends are so adorable- and B loves mythical and magical creatures, so he couldn't wait to see what types of creatures and friends we would meet in each episode.

Once again, Nickelodeon has wowed me with their wonderful educational programming for preschoolers. I am so glad to have this DVD in our educational DVD collection for B.
