Our Thoughts...

Bark Ranger is a cute movie. B didn't seem super interested in watching it, because the characters are older than he is, but he agreed to let me play it in the living room while he played with his toys, so we could check it out. Bark Ranger tells the story of two kiddos and their dog, Barkley (voiced by Jon Lovitz). Jon Lovitz is a great actor, he's so funny, and as soon as I saw his name included in the cast, I knew this movie was bound to be silly and fun.

The three stumble across a treasure map located in an abandoned ranger station in the park. They are intrigued by the map, and want to follow it so they can find the gold it leads to, and then use their findings to save and restore their beloved park. They set out on an incredible adventure with Barkley by their side. They meet quite a few interesting characters on the way, and there is so much lighthearted fun they encounter, as well.

On their journey, they are followed by two silly crooks, who are also looking to get their hands on the treasure. When I say silly crooks, I mean outlandishly silly crooks. There is a lot of comedy in this family-friendly film, but there is also a lot of crude 'toilet humor' that you may not be comfortable allowing your child to hear. I don't know about your LO(s), but mine repeats everything- so I decided that it was probably for the best that he wasn't paying too close attention to this film.

My advice would be to watch the trailer to decide if this film is right for your next family movie night. I enjoyed the story, and would deem it appropriate for older kiddos- maybe 10+, but I'm conservative, so you may find this okay for younger ones to watch.

One of the cool things about this movie, is that the DVD comes with a Digital UV copy, so you can watch this anywhere- from your TV at home to your computer, tablet or smart phone.
