Fitness Friday: Soybu {Review and Giveaway}

HAPPY FRIDAY TO ALL OF YOU!

We are a pretty active family, we love playing sports, going for walks and hikes, riding bikes, and just being on the move. It is important to wear comfortable clothing and shoes when we are out and about, but we still like to look nice as well. Since I started running, I look for more stylish clothes to wear, so when I find companies that offer both great looking and great feeling products, I am very pleased.
Soybu, based in Denver, Colorado, has been creating fashionable and functional active apparel since 1998. Their vision is to help empower women in their busy lives to feel and look their best, all day, everyday. They create performance apparel that is meant to used for working out and everyday life. It is designed with quality and style so that you can look and feel better.

I was so excited when Soybu agreed to partner with MBP and also give me the opportunity to try out a whole outfit from their catalog. I was connected with Abby, who sent me a catalog and told me to pick a top and bottom that I would most like to try. For the tops, I had a hard time deciding between tanks, short sleeves, or long sleeves. I really like a few of the options, but in the end went with a longer sleeve, knowing that some of the hiking we would be doing would be in cooler temperatures. I knew right away that I wanted Capri length bottoms, so that made my choice easy. I sent my choices to Abby and waited for my Soybu clothing to arrive.

My Soybu package is here!
The packaging is very bright and colorful, clearly labeled with the Soybu logo. I know if I was the mailman, this package would definitely catch my eye.

My ever ready helper (today she was a cat) waiting patiently to open the pretty package

Abby sent us her business card, she is in charge of PR for the Active Fashion Group, which Soybu is a part of. She was very helpful and friendly, I thank her for all her assistance.

Next, we found just what I had requested from Soybu-The Alma Dolman Athens Sky Top and Allegro Capri Mykonos Bottoms both size Medium.
The Alma Dolman Athens Sky top from Soybu

It was folded and packed very nicely, it came out of the package with just the folds, no wrinkles from being scrunched in a bag.
This top is a beautiful shade of blue, I was really impressed with the brightness and color. I was very happy I chose this shade, which is available in sizes XS to XXL. I chose the medium based on the sizing chart available on the Soybu website. There are three other color options in the plus size version, White, Black, and Echo, available in 1X-3X. The top was originally $52, but is currently on sale for $39.  This top is made of a very breathable, stretchable, lightweight, quick dry fabric mesh and cotton combination.

The Allegro Capri Mykonos bottoms from Soybu
Again folded and packed very nicely, everything arrived safe and sound.
These bottoms are so funky and fun and super stylish. I could not wait to pair them with the Alma top, they matched perfectly. The teal, blue, and creamy white come together to create a really neat pattern and are very eye catching. This design is available in sizes XS-XXL, I again chose the medium based on the sizing chart. These bottoms are also available in six other color/pattern options in the plus size version (Black, Storm Heather, Black Halftone, Blue Halftone, Mod Nouveau, and Motion) in 1X-3X. The bottoms were originally $49 but are currently on sale for $36.75.  The bottoms are made of a breathable, stretchable, wrinkle resistant polyester and spandex blend.

On our recent trip to Hawaii we had lots of adventures planned, so I knew that I needed to pack quite a bit of clothing that I could wear both to be out exploring in, but still feel comfortable wearing while we ate or just hung out. I didn't want to pack numerous outfits for each day, so I tried to pack casual, comfortable, and stylish. I knew I would be taking my new Soybu outfit and that it would be perfect for our day exploring Volcano National Park.

We were up and in the park around 6:00 AM, so it was still a bit cool outside. I was very glad to have a long sleeve top and Capri bottoms to help cover me up until it warmed up a bit.

Here I am in front of the Sulphur Steam Vents
Checking out the huge crater and more steam vents
As it started warming up, I was very glad for the mesh part of the top. It kept me cool and dry, even when the sun was warm. I never felt hot, even while we hiked 4 miles through lava fields.

I was very comfortable throughout our day at the park. We walked over 10 miles total and spent the whole day exploring. My clothing was stylish and felt good on, it was such a great outfit to wear.

I have been browsing some other Soybu items now that I have experienced the quality and durability that this company offers. Here are some of the items I have my eyes on:

The Soybu logo really tells their goal in a very simple way. The peace symbol is regarded as a means of attracting good things into our lives, Soybu takes that wisdom and stitches it into to every piece they make. I could not have been happier with my Soybu choices!
