Make Family Night Totally Awesome with Awesome Pack #Review + #Giveaway

When I started to think about making plans for my family for Valentine's Day, I felt sort of stumped. This year, hubby is playing for a concert on Valentine's Day, so our family will be a bit scattered. We plan to celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday night, with a family fun night at home. When we have a family fun night, we usually make our own homemade pizzas, play games, and maybe even watch a movie. We care about spending time together, but the older our son gets, the harder it is to keep him interested in the idea of family fun night, when we have so many distracting devices at our fingertips.

Not long ago, I discovered Awesome Pack, when searching for ideas for family fun night. Awesome Pack is a truly awesome monthly subscription pack for families. Developed by brother and sister duo Chris and Kat, Awesome Pack delivers family fun right to your door, monthly! When Chris and Kat were growing up, they enjoyed family game nights with their mom and dad. They would play fun games, and their mom would make some snacks, and sometimes even come up with a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy. Their mom believed that families who take the time to do things together have stronger relationships. So, putting together Awesome Pack seemed natural to Chris and Kat. Combining their individual talents, skills, and all around fun attitude, with their love and knowledge of games and family activities is what makes Awesome Pack the most Awesomely Awesome monthly subscription pack EVER.

I had the pleasure of connecting with Kat, who offered me the opportunity to personalize an Awesome Pack for my family. Kat sent me a little questionnaire to fill out, and I included information like our family name, the type of Awesome Pack we preferred (Family Pack or Big Kid Mode, which is for two adults), the names, birth dates and genders of our family members, and our shipping address. Soon after, I received a welcome e-mail (which was awesomely fun!). The welcome e-mail invited me to answer just a few more questions for final customization, and after I submitted all of my info, Awesome Pack took it from there, and got to work on building the most awesome family fun filled Awesome Pack a family could ever dream of receiving!

I didn't tell my hubby or little B anything about Awesome Pack before our Awesome Pack arrived. I wanted it to be a total surprise. Our mail carrier dropped off our Awesome Pack, and B was incredibly excited. He saw the bright yellow tape around the box, and of course, assumed the box was for him. I explained that it was for the whole family, and we waited until daddy got home to open it up.

Is this an excited face, or what? B couldn't wait to see what was inside of our January Awesome Pack!

Our Awesome Pack was nicely packaged, and our items were covered with red tissue paper. We felt like we had received a super fun present!

Once the paper was pulled away, the awesomeness of our Awesome Pack was revealed!

B peered around to see the goodies inside of our Awesome Pack. He was so excited and surprised, he couldn't decide what to grab first!

I was really astonished by the amount of family fun games and activities we received in our Awesome Pack. Hubby and I both stood by while B dove into the box, and both said, 'Wow, this is pretty awesome!' Chris and Kat definitely nailed the name of their creative monthly subscription box!

Take a look at all of this awesomeness- all in one awesome box!

We received:
Busytown Eye Found It Game
The Cat in the Hat Matching Game
Sock Puppet Monsters Craft Kit
Nitro Grinder Stunt Vehicle
Spiderman Sticker Album
Jake and the Neverland Pirates Magic Pen Coloring Pad
Spiderman Stickers
Big Bang Theory Playing Cards
Awesome Pack Stickers
Awesome Magnet
Awesome Family Activity Book
Awesome Pack Welcome Letter with Box Content Description
*Birthday Card for the Birthday Girl (Me!)

B was super intrigued by this little toy the Nitro Grinder. He couldn't wait to get it out of the container and play with it!

The Nitro Grinder is a fun little stunt vehicle that you can have tons of fun with, and collect others, as well. You can change the wheels out with others that you collect, and use the guide that comes with the toy to try cool stunts!

We made a plan to have a family fun night, the evening after we received our Awesome Pack. It was a Friday night, and everyone would be home, and would be able to spend time together, and check out the pack. B couldn't wait a whole day to start enjoying some of the activities, so he and I went ahead and did some of them after school on Friday.

B is a huge Spiderman fan, so we wasted no time in enjoying the Spiderman sticker album!

B had so much fun flipping through the sticker album, and placing his Spiderman sticker onto the pages of the album. We looked at all of the other characters in the book, and B asked if we could get them, and add them to his collection of stickers. Nothing excites my little man more than superheroes and stickers... a winning combination that B thought was AWESOME!

Another favorite character- Jake of Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

'How'd it do that!? It's magic!'

B thought the Magic Pen Jake and the Neverland Pirates coloring book was a lot of fun! I love it, because you only need one marker. B had never used one of these before, and loved how the pen magically made different colors appear on the coloring page! This brought back memories of my childhood, because my sister and I used these types of activity pads and magic markers when we were little- we loved them! This activity is awesome for anytime, but we really love taking it with us in the car. It's totally mess-free, and totally awesome! We can't wait to enjoy more adventures with Jake, Izzy, and Cubby!

Perhaps our favorite item included in our Awesome Pack- The Busytown Eye Found It Game!

We're big fans of Richard Scarry's Busytown. We love the cartoon, and we love the Busytown books, so we couldn't wait to discover what fun the game would hold. B couldn't wait to see what types of adventures we would be going on with Huckle, Lowly, and Sally.

The Busytown Eye Found It game board is narrow, and folds out longways, so we quickly discovered that we needed a long table or a lot of floor space to play this game. We do have a long dining table, but we figured it would be better to play on the floor. We took turns spinning the spinner, and moving our game pieces. If you land on a Goldbug card, everyone has to look for the item on the card, on the game board. We placed little magnifying glasses over the items we found. Everyone has to work together. The more objects you find, the more spaces the players are allowed to move, collectively. The goal of the game is for all of the players to make it to the ferry boat, so the players can reach the picnic, before the food runs out.

B, looking for the objects, and getting ready to pass out the magnifying glasses to his Grammy.

B and Grammy, discussing their strategy.

We all really like this game. It has quickly become the game B asks to play over and over again. We've played it the past two weekends in a row, and he and I have played it a lot during the afternoons at home. B has also enjoyed teaching his Grammy and Grandma G. how to play this fun game. What I love is that there are different goals in the game, and you're not just doing the same thing over and over again. This game keeps B engaged until the game is over.

Our favorite activity included in our Awesome Pack- the Sock Puppet Monsters craft.

We brought out the Sock Monster Puppet kit on a rainy afternoon (there have been a lot of those lately). Since it's been too cold and wet to go out and play, we've been keeping busy with fun crafts like this one. This project is ideal for ages 5+. I had reservations about trying to do this project with B, because he often lacks patience. I knew this project wouldn't take super long, but it would be more than a fifteen minute deal.

Our Sock Monster Puppet Kit came with everything we needed to make the sock monster puppets.

We received two socks, yarn, a plastic needle, adhesive tape, google eyes, and cardboard cut-outs.

We decided that we would only make one sock monster puppet that day, and we'd save the other for another rainy day, or family night. We followed the instructions, and took a few creative liberties with our sock monster puppet. B helped me thread the needle (which was in no way sharp), and pull it through, to sew the mouth into place, and to sew the hair onto the puppet. The eyes had their own adhesive backing, so we just peeled the paper off the back, and was able to place the eyes on the sock.

B, and his silly sock monster puppet, Lubo.

B was super proud of his sock monster puppet, and ran off to play with him, immediately. I didn't see B for about thirty minutes, as he was practicing a special puppet show. Later that evening, hubby and I were treated to a very special puppet show, which we very much enjoyed. B let his creativity and imagination shine, as he performed for us.

We also received a fun Cat in the Hat matching game!

I haven't had a lot of success with B when it comes to matching games. He has shied away from them in the past. However, we have been reading a lot of Dr. Seuss books before bedtime lately, so he was actually totally into playing this game! I was happy about that, and he was thrilled to recognize characters like blue fish, Sam I Am, Things One and Two, from those beloved books. This is a fun game that our entire family has enjoyed playing, and it has become one of the games that we play several times a week. I like that it's an easy game, and doesn't take long to play- so we can play one round, and move onto something else, or we can play several rounds, if we want to.

The Big Bang Theory Playing Cards are also tons of fun! They have our favorite characters on the cards, and it's a lot more fun to see their faces on the cards, rather than the boring old standard card symbols. B loves flipping through them! I know my sister would love these cards, too, as she is a huge fan of The Big Bang Theory! We can enjoy our favorite card games in a whole new way!

One of the things that I loved the most about our Awesome Pack, was the Awesomely Awesome Activity Book, created by the Awesome Pack team. The first few pages were a Family Journal, which asked questions, and left room for us to record our family memories for the month of January.

We answered questions like:

The most awesome thing we did as a family this month was: We went to Myrtle Beach, and got to visit the Ripley's Aquarium, and take a ride on the Myrtle Beach Sky Wheel.

Something we would like to do soon is: Take a day trip to the NC Zoo in Asheboro.

Our activity book also included:
An Awesome Word Search
Tips to get moving- dancing, freeze dance, balloon volleyball, hop scotch, hot potato.
Included two awesome mazes for us to make our way through.
Also included awesome card games, like Go Fish, Crazy Eights, and War.
Plus, the back of the activity book provided us with instructions for an Ivory Soap Experiment, complete with research questions to answer! We haven't done the experiment yet, but it's on our to-do list for next week!

Our entire family thinks that the Awesome Pack is totally awesome! I mean, it rocked our socks off! We received an entire box full of high quality, full sized products that were tailors to the ages, and genders of our family members, plus catered to our interests. Our Awesome Pack provided us with an unbelievable opportunity to experience the awesomeness of our own family unit, by sending us some fun goodies and tools for family fun night! I have reviewed a lot of different subscription boxes, but Awesome Pack is the only one we've tried that really caters to the entire family, and puts an emphasis on family togetherness. I think that the value of the items we were sent, plus the little extras, are totally worth the subscription price. This is one box I would absolutely subscribe to, and highly recommend to friends and family- and of course, to you- my lovely readers.
