I am not a huge sock wearer and have never really been a sock wearer. This is such a shame, because I really do love socks. They are so fun and cute and you can find just about any type of sock you want. Now, I said am not a sock wearer, but there are times that call for socks and I do wear them, and I am thankful for the few pairs I do own, because I can really take the time to have exactly what I want.
Socks also make really great stocking stuffers. My husband and all three kids each get at least one pair in their stocking each year. I love the creativity that socks can show off on a person and think it is so neat (maybe even a bit jealous) when people are sock lovers. What could be a better gift to someone, someone who loves socks, than a monthly service that delivers fun socks to your mailbox?
Sockwork, based in Texas, was started by founders Tina and Mario. They were looking for a way to combine two of their favorite passions, funky socks and more importantly supporting our nation's Veterans. Their love comes from their first hand knowledge of how hard it is for people to raise money for Veterans (people who really truly deserve it all for their service). Mario is a West Point grad and former Army Officer (and we thank him so much for all he has given) and also Tina's sister who served in the Army with Mario (we thank her as well!).
Their business venture, Sockwork, is a subscription service that offers a mix of cool socks for a great price. They offer Men's, Women's, and Kid's Subscriptions, along with a Men's Underwear Subscription. With three sock options, everyone in your family can be covered.
Mario and Tina are also paying it forward because Sockwork donates 10% of their profits to a different Veteran charity each month. They hope that your subscription service and their donation will help American heroes get the things they need and that other business will see their success and follow.

On the front of the information card you will find a few photos, social media links, and a quick note from Mario (the soxologist for my order). We also got a yummy mint!
On the back of the information card was the Sponsored Veteran Organization: STOP SOLDIER SUICIDE. SSS is the first national civilian not-for-profit organization dedicated to preventing active duty and Veteran suicide. The leaders at SSS hope to realize a day when Soldiers and Veterans who are considering suicide can openly and without shame, ask for and receive the help and support they need.

I knew very little about the statistics of Soldier and Veteran suicide, but by browsing this site, I was not only shocked, but incredibly sad for these men and women who have already given so much, it really opened up my eyes. Did you know that Veterans commit suicide at double and triple rates of civilians or that every single day more than 22 Veterans and 1 Active Duty Soldier will commit suicide? I get chills reading these numbers and feel ashamed that the people fighting for our freedom are burdened with the feelings of shame over suffering from mental health issues or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that they feel suicide is their only choice. Even if you choose not to subscribe to Sockwork, please look into volunteering or donating to SSS.
Now, thanks to the mission of Mario and Tina, I will check out the amazing things they are doing to help our Soldiers live full, happy, and healthy lives.

Both pairs of socks are from Richer Poorer Inc. This brand of socks is exclusively provided in each monthly box. Richer Poorer is based in LA and use premium quality products in everything they design.
Richer Poorer socks are in the price range of $12-$20 per pair, so the price point of Sockwork is a great one. Most are also made of a combination of combed cotton, polyester, nylon, and spandex and come in women's size 5-10 and men's size 6-12.

Can I just say these socks are really, really nice. They are a thinner sock, a huge plus for me, but still very cushiony. I could wear them with flats, boots, or just by themselves. They are also really fun. The colors are bold, bright, and funky, I can guarantee my feet will stand out. These socks are perfect for day to day wear and feel and look like they will last a long time. I could maybe even turn in to a sock lover and wearer if I had a drawer full of these guys.
I had said above that the retail price of Richer Poorer socks was anywhere from $12-20 a pair, so the price of a Sockwork subscription at $20/month, makes this a great deal. On top of your drawer filling with socks, you can also know that your money is helping out a Veteran charity and offering a Soldier or Veteran the opportunity to lead a much fuller life.
