Brighten up your home with Hen House Linens, #HolidayGiftGuide, #Review

I don't know about the rest of you, but with Christmas right around the corner, I have been baking up a storm. It seems nearly every day I've been in the kitchen creating something for Cory to take to work for a potluck, a friend's asked for a plate of cookies, or I just want to make them for my family. I enjoy baking, but I always tend to make a mess no matter how hard I try not to. My Gram always says, "The best chefs make a mess." I'm not the best chef, but I do tend to make a mess. With all the parties and people stopping by, I needed a way to keep myself clean, but look good at the same time.

Hen House Linens offers a variety of beautiful linens for the home that "add a little bit of fancy to the everyday routine." Their linens are some of the nicest that I have seen in a long time, so I was thrilled when they offered for me to review an apron from their new Holiday collection, which retails for $28.00.
With all the baking I still needed to do, I knew it would have a welcome home in my kitchen.

When my apron arrived, I quickly opened the package to reveal the gorgeous Ornamental Scarlet pattern. The pattern is so colorful and whimsical, it looks like ornaments hanging from garland that is draped all over the apron. The apron is white and the ornaments are red, green, silver and blue. It immediately put me in the mood for Christmas music and baking cookies.

Look how gorgeous the patter on the Ornamental Scarlet Apron is

After close inspection of the apron, I noticed that it is a good size for an apron. Since I'm plus size, most apron tend to run a little small and don't really cover anything. I was  happy to see that Hen House Linens thought to make a larger apron that can easily be adjusted to fit all shapes and sizes. At the top of the apron there are two metal rings that the neck strap fits into, easily slide the strap through and pull to tighten, or pull the metal rings to loosen. The tie on the back is long enough to give me a tight tie and a perfect fit. There is also a nice pocket on the front of the apron to hold all your kitchen gadgets or recipe cards. I

I quickly put the apron on and adjusted the straps. I was amazed at how well it covers my chest and body. There is hardly anything exposed with this apron, which means less of a mess for me to make! No one enjoys flour hand prints all over their clothing. While tying the straps, I noticed the stitching on the apron. I think since my Mom is a quilter, I tend to notice the small things. The stitching is superior, no loose threads, and no gaps in the stitches, I was very impressed!

The Straps are long enough to wrap around the back and front

Now, to the fun part, baking! I spent the better part of a day in the kitchen baking cookies for my husbands work.  I had so much fun, but can my Hen House Linen, Apron hold up to my messy style and keep me clean? I took a break about 2 hours into baking, and I was pleased when I looked in the mirror. No flour on my clothes, and the apron kept the greasy butter off my shirt when my mixer decided to throw it all over the place. I told you I'm messy!

I headed back in the kitchen to finish the cookies. Soon, my hubby came home from work and said he though I looked snazzy in my apron. Once I was done baking, I took the apron of to inspect the damage. It was covered in flour, butter and powdered sugar. I knew it needed to be washed, but I was nervous to wash it. I didn't want the colors to fade, and I was afraid the butter wouldn't come out of the apron. I decided to was it on delicate and hang it to dry. Once it dried, I couldn't find any trace of the days festivities.

I am so happy with my Apron from Hen House Linens. It exceeded my expectations in quality and design. Cory and I will be spending Christmas Eve with his family this year and I plan on bringing my apron to bake in. I can't wait to show it off to our family and see what they have to say. My Mother-in-Law loves to bake, so I think I may be ordering her one very soon.

Love how well the Apron fits!

We have a tradition in my family when my sister and I help my Mom cook or bake. We each have our own apron that she keeps at her house and when we come over she gets them out for us . No one else is allowed to wear them, and it is a special treat that just the three of us can share. I plan on starting this tradition in my home, and I plan on my ornamental scarlet apron from Hen House Lines to be the first I add.

I couldn't be happier with my Apron, and I know it will be with me for years to come, and hopefully passed down throughout the generations.

If you're not a baker or cook, Hen House Linens has so many beautiful designs for your home. Are you in need of a new tablecloth for your next dinner party? How about some quilted chargers or guest towels? There are so many things to choose from, you won't be disappointed.
