Fitness Friday: Twist Your Way to a Smaller Waist

Happy Friday! I hope you're all gearing up for a great weekend! I know I am- I'm looking forward to relaxing a bit this weekend, because next week/weekend will be extremely busy for our family! It can be pretty difficult to find the time to squeeze in a workout, especially this time of year, when we all feel that we're so busy, we're being pulled in a million directions at once. Stretch Armstrong comes to mind- remember him? I am trying to keep up with a daily Pilates or Yoga routine, just to help keep my body toned during the holiday season, and if you think that you don't have time for that, I'm here to tell you that you do!

In just five or ten minutes a day, you can get some key moves down, and shrink your waist, and tighten/tone your entire body from head to toe. Consistency is the key here- not really the length of time you spend working out. In just a few minutes a day, you can give your body a makeover- trust me- you'll start seeing results quickly, if you stick with some simples moves, poses, and repetitions.

Do the Twist!

For a simple move/moves you can do in minutes, check out the twist exercises below!

I make this exercise a part of my daily routine. The trick in doing this thr right way, is to keep your feet at hip distance apar on the mat, and to keep your legs and pelvis from moving or shifting while you twist. If your feet are moving as you twist, your pelvis is shifting. If you aren't quite flexible enough to reach your feet during the cross body exercise, you can certainly bend your knees as a regression. Go at whatever pace works best for you.

This is a quick, amazing workout that will strengthen your core, work your arms, and back muscles, as well! I would do two sets of ten reps on each of these- but if you're just starting out, you may want to start with five or six, move up to ten, fifteen, and then twenty.

Hope you'll add this to your existing routine, or give this a try, if you're looking for a quick workout!
