Unique and Flavorful Cookies: Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough #Review & #Giveaway

I have a serious sweet tooth... seriously. I try to eat healthily, exercise regularly, and all that stuff (because it's seriously important), but I have a huge weakness for sweets. I have never been a huge cookie lover, though. I enjoy the occasional fresh out of the oven warm chocolate chip cookie, or cookie bar, but that's about it. My boys, on the other hand (hubby and son) love cookies- just about any and every kind. Unfortunately for them, this momma isn't the world's greatest baker. I mean, hey- I try my best, for them, of course, but I have had some major cookie mishaps. Lucky for this baking-challenged momma, Jen & Joe's Cookie Dough is here to save the day!

Since I am a pretty terrible baker, and dislike buying junk cookies, I began searching for cookie dough that was made of natural ingredients- like real eggs, flour, sugar, and didn't contain preservatives or artificial ingredients. I came across Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough, and was impressed by their story. Jen is the master baker, and her husband Joe is the master taste tester! Jen has always loved baking, and even went to pastry school. She enjoys coming up with flavorful cookie combinations that are unique and delicious! Her husband Joe doesn't have a whole lot to do with actually making the cookies, but he does love to taste them, and hey- Joe rhymes with 'dough.'

I was very happy to connect with the fine folks at Jen and Joe's (everyone on their team is so nice!), and to be offered a variety of Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough to sample with my family. I was sent all six flavors of Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough, and couldn't wait to bake and taste them!

Our Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough samples arrived frozen and packed with dry ice.

Look at this awesome sampling of cookie dough! Each box contains twelve cookie dough balls, ready to bake!

I was especially excited to see these flavors: Chocolate Chunk and Lemon Drop! Yummy!

Another classic- Snickerdoodle, with a new and exciting flavor- White Chocolate Wasabi.

And then- Oatmeal Toffee and Chocolate Spice!

Each flavor of Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough was individually packaged and boxed. Each box contained one dozen frozen cookies, ready to bake. The cookie dough needed to be kept frozen, so I quickly made space in my freezer for six boxes of cookie dough that would make 72 cookies! Whoa! There is no need to let the cookie dough thaw before baking the cookies!

Now, my sister happened to be visiting us from Oklahoma when the the Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough samples arrived. I was very excited that two MBP Sr. Contributors would be able to share their opinions on these cookies. Brittany and I wanted to be able to share our opinions on all of these wonderful cookie dough flavors, so we got together at my house one afternoon, put on some fresh coffee, put our aprons on, and got into the kitchen!

Here's what a package of Jen and Joe's cookie dough looks like- twelve frozen cookie dough balls. This is the chocolate chunk variety!

Here's the Oatmeal Toffee variety.

We preheated the oven, and places three dough balls of each cookie flavor on a baking sheet. This would leave us with one and a half dozen cookies in a mixed variety of flavors. Making the cookies couldn't have been easier! Baking can be a lot of fun, but messy, and some days, I'd love to present my son and hubby with fresh baked homemade cookies, but I don't want to clean up the mess that goes along with it- so I just skip making cookies altogether. Bad mommy, I know. Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough is incredibly convenient! It gives you a homemade, fresh baked cookie, whenever you want one!

My favorite kitchen helper and Master Chef in training, B, couldn't wait to help place the cookie dough balls on the baking sheet.

Sister (and MBP Sr. Contributor) Britt, was eager to try the Snickerdoodle cookies!

We baked about nine cookies at a time. Here are the frozen cookie dough balls on the baking sheet, ready to go into the oven.

And here are the finished cookies- White Chocolate Wasabi, Snickerdoodle, and Lemon Drop.

As the cookies were baking (it took about twelve minutes for the cookies to fully bake in my oven- may vary for yours), they smelled incredibly delicious. B kept asking us if it was cookie time yet. The three of us couldn't wait to taste those cookies!

We let the cookies cool directly on the baking sheet for about seven to ten minutes. The cookies do need time to finish setting before you try to remove them with a spatula. If you try to move the cookies to early, they might break apart. We did well to follow the recommendation on the box from Jen and Joe's... we didn't want to wind up with broken cookies!

Once all of the cookies were baked and were cool and firm, we transported one of each flavor to a tasting plate, and grabbed our coffee cups. Cookies and coffee just go hand in hand, no?

All six cookie flavors on a tasting plate! Don't they look scrumptious?

We sat down with pen and paper, and broke pieces off of each cookie to taste. We made some quick observations right away. The cookies were firm, yet soft. We could tell that these were made with real ingredients and could taste the freshness. All of the flavors were truly unique, unlike any other cookie flavors we had previously experienced.

We had some differing opinions as we tried to rank the cookie dough flavors. My dad happened to pop by for a quick visit, and we offered him some of the cookies to taste, as well, which served as a tie breaker!

Based on overall taste, we ranked the cookies in order of personal preference
(remember- this came from three tasters):

#1- Chocolate Chunk
#2- Snickerdoodle
#3- Oatmeal Toffee
#4 Lemon Drop
#5- Chocolate Spice
#6 White Chocolate Wasabi

My personal favorite was the Chocolate Chunk. I loved the chocolate chunks, rather than your traditional chocolate chips. The sugar sprinkles on top gave it an extra sweet surprise with every bite! My sister loved the Snickerdoodle- she actually ranked that one as her personal favorite based on the flavor and texture of the cookie. She said it was what a good snickerdoodle cookie should taste like, and it was soft and chewy.

In the middle, we had the Oatmeal Toffee, which I thought was pretty tasty (I love toffee), but Britt wasn't as sold on it as I was. I loved its chewy texture, and love oatmeal cookies, so this was definitely a winner in my book. We both also really enjoyed the lemon drop. A lot of folks don't care for lemon flavored treats, but I love them! They are so perfect for an afternoon delight, summertime snack, etc! These were light and lemony, and super yummy!

We hated to rank any of the flavors at the bottom of the list, because they really were all very good. Our fifth and sixth picks were the Chocolate Spice and White Chocolate Wasabi Flavors. I liked the Chocolate Spice, and so did my hubby. He is a big spice fan, and this flavor was ranked among his personal favorites. I liked the chocolate cookie, but am not a big spice fan. The cookie was thick and chewy, and truthfully reminded me of a spin on a holiday cookie tradition.

The White Chocolate Wasabi was interesting. I am not a fan of white chocolate or wasabi, but I did try this cookie, for the sake of the taste test. My husband and sister liked the white chocolate in this cookie. Hubby did not care for the wasabi taste with the white chocolate. My sis likes wasabi, but just wasn't sure about the flavor combo of this cookie. My dad tried the White Chocolate Wasabi Cookie, and enjoyed it.

All in all, we loved Jen and Joe's Cookie Dough, and I definitely want to keep The Chocolate Chunk, Lemon Drop, and Oatmeal Toffee flavors stocked in my freezer. These cookies are perfect to have on hand when you have last minute or unexpected guests drop by. It's just good manners to have something on hand to offer your guests, so be the host or hostess with the mostess and offer your guests freshly baked Jen and Joe's cookies! You'll never want to make pre-packaged cookies from a bag again!
