We are living in a digital world, and honey, I'm a digital girl. If there's one thing that I may very well be addicted to, other than coffee, it's my devices. I sort of feel lost without them now, because I really rely on them for work purposes, and enjoy having them on hand for down time. I use my Samsung Galaxy phone a lot- I mean, I'm on it all day long, doing everything from taking pictures, scheduling events, answering e-mails, making calls, etc. I am a huge Samsung Galaxy fan- I love the way my phone functions, and wouldn't switch to any other brand for anything.
At the end of the day, when I am getting that last little bit of work finished up, or want to read or unwind by playing a game for a few minutes, I turn to my Nook by Barnes and Noble. Last Christmas, my parents gifted me a Nook HD, and I have been in love with it from day one. Everything from the display to the apps, and of course the B&N Nook Shop. When I heard that Barnes & Noble was teaming up with Samsung to create the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook, I was out of this world excited, and even more so when I was offered the opportunity to try one out for myself!

When my review sample of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook arrived, I was chomping at the bits to open the box and check it out.
When my hubby came home and saw this on the table, he slightly turned into a kid again- he was very excited, and couldn't wait to see what the new Nook looked and felt like.
What's in the box?
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook comes with the device (available in black or white), Micro USB cord, charger, and user manual. My hubby and I love that this device, much like our Samsung Galaxy phones, can be charged universally with a micro USB cord. This is so nice. I love my Nook HD, but it can only be charged with the cord that came with it, which is much larger at the base than a regular micro USB cord base.

My first impression of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook, was that it was a sexy device- I mean, as sexy as a device can be, based on looks. It's super sleek, and thin, just like the Galaxy phones. I love the silver rim around the device, too. All of the buttons (press and touch, alike) are exactly as they are on my phone, so I knew right away that the power button was on the top right side of the phone, the main button was front and center underneath the screen, with the menu touch key to the left, and the back screen touch key to the right. The only thing that I noticed was different, was the volume bar, which is located underneath the power button on the right hand side. The headphones jack is at the top, and USB port at the bottom. Easy enough, right?
The tablet is super lightweight, and what I really love about it, is that you can hold it in your hand. I have to either prop my Nook HD up, or hold it with two hands, because it's pretty large (which I don't mind- again, I love my Nook HD!).
I wanted to show you what this amazing device can do, so take a look at some of its awesome features.
Device home screen- shows you how you can get to your Nook Shop, Search button, Chrome access, Play Store access, Google Apps, etc. Remember, this is an Android based device, so all of your favorite apps, widgets and more, will be at your fingertips. The multi-screen function allows you to do two things at once!

So, pretty much anything and everything you could possibly want to read is available in the NOOK Shop, which you can access from your WiFi enabled NOOK device, your smart phone, or computer. Setting up an account is super easy, and once you've set it up, you can access it from any device you so choose. Every member of my family has a B & N NOOK Shop account, and we all love it.
Since I already have a personal account, I was familiar with how it worked. I have tons of NOOK Books on my NOOK HD, and love that I can access them anytime I want to!
Once your account is set up and ready to go, start browsing! Use the search bar to type in whatever you like, or you can use the categories in the NOOK Shop to shop by author, title, best sellers, books for children, etc.
When searching for children's books, you can search by age group. I typed in 3-5, as B is four years old, and we found some great titles that would definitely pique his interest.
With many of the available NOOK Books, you are able to download and enjoy a sample. Just think of it as a try before you buy type of thing.
We downloaded a sample of Disney's FROZEN: A Day in the Sun. This happened to be a Read by Myself or Read and Record book.

The Barnes & Noble NOOK Shop has a multitude of children's books for wee ones, beginner readers, early readers, etc. B loves to sit down with me, or his daddy, and swipe to turn the book pages as we read a story together on the device, or he loves for the device to read the story to him!

I happen to be a huge Philippa Gregory fan, and B & N has an incredible collection of works by P.G. Yes, I am a nerd and really love history books, historical fiction, and biographies. I have already purchased several of these titles, but I love that I can click on the ones I don't have, or haven't read yet, and read a sample, and then decide whether or not I want to purchase the book. Once a Nook Book is purchased, it remains in your B & N personal library, forever.

Another great think about the B & N NOOK Shop, is that they have hundreds, if not thousands of titles for free! Seriously- just type 'free' into the search bar in the NOOK Shop, and hundreds of free books, and more, will come up, giving you the opportunity to download for free. These, too, remain in your personal library after being downloaded. I have read some pretty interesting things that were free downloads from the B & N NOOK Shop. If you're a fan of romantic fiction, you'll be in heaven over the number of free reads in that category!
