One of the best things about B's birthday, is that we actually get to celebrate the birthday boy! When the whole family comes together to celebrate B, it really makes him feel so loved, and very special- and why shouldn't he? He's one special kiddo to us! When I began planning B's Spiderman themed party, I thought it would be a lot of fun to have a special birthday poster, all about B, celebrating his milestones, accomplishments, the things he likes, people he loves, etc. I am not artistic, so I was not about to try my own hand at designing a poster for B's birthday. However, there are so many wonderful folks out there who are talented artists- be that digitally, or freehandedly.

I was lucky enough to connect with the super talented and very sweet Vanessa Zuren, of Vanessa Zuren Designs. Vanessa hails from Tucson, Arizona, and is married with three beautiful children. Vanessa has always had a passion for design, and party planning, and decided to share her talents with the world by opening a shop on Etsy in 2009. Vanessa Zuren Designs is a one stop shop for invitations, complete party packages, birthday signs, quotes and home decor!

Vanessa was kind enough to offer to make a Spiderman inspired personalized birthday sign for B's party, and I was incredibly excited about that. I had a lot of fun looking through Vanessa's portfolio (through her Etsy shop), and was pretty amazed by what she has done/created. I loved the Spiderman inspired design that Vanessa had available in her shop, and connected with her to create a customized sign for B's party.

*Vanessa suggested these as a guide, and told me that I could use these, if I wanted to. I could have added different things, but I liked this list, so I went with it.

After I sent the information over to Vanessa, she got to work right away. Within 24 hours, she e-mailed me a proof of the finished design, and asked for me to 'okay it,' if it looked good to me, which it did!

After I gave Vanessa the green light, she kindly had the poster printed for me, and shipped it out to me. It arrived just a couple of days later. This has probably been the fastest turn around on anything I have ever received through MBP. Vanessa is super speedy!

Our party sign arrived priority mail, and we couldn't wait to open it up and see it!

A closer look...

I let B help me open up the box containing the birthday sign, since it was for his party, and essentially, would be for him to keep. I explained that the poster was for his party and was very delicate, so he would have to be extra careful, which he was.

B, excited to help remove the poster from the packaging.

Since the poster had been rolled up for a couple of days, we needed to flatten it out on the table. 

I carefully laid a couple of heavy books atop the poster, to help flatten it out before the party. I stepped back and admired the personalized birthday poster with my husband, and we were both impressed. B thought the poster was the coolest thing ever, and couldn't wait until he was able to hang it in his room after his party!

The spiderman inspired personalized birthday sign included some cool info about B, on his fourth birthday. We were able to include his favorite books, song, show, some of the things he loves, his friends, etc. We really loved the way it turned out, personalized with B's name, and of course, Spiderman!

Instead of framing the poster, we just hung it above the area where the gifts were being placed.

Once we got some decorations up, the poster made a wonderful focal point!

Our guests so enjoyed the personalized birthday poster at B's party! They thought it was so cute, and if they didn't already know about his favorite things, they enjoyed reading about them on the poster! Now that the party is over, the poster makes for a wonderful keepsake. I still plan on getting it framed, because we're probably going to be doing a Spiderman or Marvel Heroes bedroom makeover for B in the near future. We'll be trading out race cars for Spiderman, and this poster would look great framed above B's bed! With just a few switches of bedding and accessories, he'll have a Spiderman themed room in no time!

Right now, the poster is hanging above B's art desk, in his room. He can't wait to have it hanging over his bed!
